Just got back from the DLH. We have stayed at all 3 properties numerous times and I just wanted to post a short short review. Feel free to ask any questions.
We stayed in the Frontier Tower (old Bonita) and it was great. A huge scale model of Big Thunder Mtn was in the lobby along with frontierland pictures, fake cowhide chairs. Loved the themeing from the carpet to the wallpaper. Well done. The new rooms are really nice. Our standard view was huge with 2 queen beds and a split bathroom (shower and toilet seperate from sink). Room was decorated with fireworks headboard with can be used as a nightlight.
The slides, hot tub, smaller pool area were all open. Tons of lifeguards out. and the kids LOVED the monorail slides. They had a movie on the lawn on Thursday night and Sunday night while we were there I think 8pm (tarzan and toy story 3). Free and they gave everyone pool blankets to sit on. The construction walls were a little annoying as you had to walk a little further around to get some places - but its Disney so you are always walking right?
We did 4 of the trivia hunts that the hotel offers. The daily schedule shows them at 8am but you can grab and turn them into guest services at any time. We did Nemo, Jungle Cruise, Small World and Pirates. Basically you answer questions about the ride "What flag is above the attraction?" "How many chickens under the auctioneer?" etc. I won't give away the prize, it is small but super cool and different for each hunt. It is not a cookie like at the Grand.
We took advantage of the early entry for Little Mermaid. We walked on over and over again. Through out the weekend we never saw really big crowds except for Sunday. The hotel gave us each a 2 time fast pass for any ride. We used them for Star Tours and Goofy's Flight School (the boys favorite). They print the return time immediately so you don't need to worry about getting them early in the day.
