DL Sig Plus + WDW Ticket Bridging = Premier AP?

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone on the forum has been in a similar situation? I am currently a DL Signature Plus AP holder and have planned a trip to WDW in early 2019. I am not absolutely certain if I should upgrade to a Premier AP, but my 60 day FP+ window opens up in the coming weeks so I need to figure out a park ticket situation fast.

Would it be possible to purchase (discounted) WDW park tickets from a third party reseller for now (to secure those FP+s!) and (when I later make a final decision) upgrade my DL Signature Plus AP to a Premier AP at Guest Relations at WDW using the value of my purchased WDW park tickets (ticket bridge) towards the cost of the upgrade?

Seems like a complicated situation, yes, but if it has worked in the past the benefits are two-fold: I am buying time to make a final decision on that Premier AP, and I benefit from ticket bridging!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Unlike at DLR, at WDW you can’t use a new, unused ticket to upgrade a valid ticket that’s in your possession and is in use.

You would need to upgrade to Premier at DL, or, only use your multi-day ticket at WDW.

The difference in price between the premier and the signature plus is $430 (plus the tax on the Florida part of the ticket). I'm not sure how many days you were planning to go to WDW but the cost for the premier is more than likely worth it. Don't forget that you also get free parking at the parks and food discounts (mostly sit down restaurants) with the premier vs just a wdw ticket.

You would need to go to a DL ticket booth to upgrade your pass to the premier. The premier would then have the same expiration date as your current signature plus. Once your pass is upgraded, you can link your pass on my disney experience and book your FP.

You can’t do that at ‘land, either.

One admission per upgrade. Can’t use a ticket to upgrade another ticket or AP.

Thanks! We were always able to use a ticket to upgrade our SoCal APs to a higher level AP. SoCals no longer exist and I haven’t needed to purchase an admission ticket for WDW-DLR for over 8 years. :)

If the additional ticket is unsued, I've seen exceptions made where they refund the unused ticket and put that value towards the Premier Pass. However, in that case, the ticket is not bridged, and if you purchase it from a third party, you'll get the value at which the third party purchased the ticket from Disney, not the value of what you actually paid for the ticket. But like I mentioned -- it's an exception, not a sure thing. YMMV.
