We may be going to the west coast for vacation in the fall (to meet my new nephew/niece) and may hit up DL.

How many days should we plan for? Is two enough?

And with a fam of 6 (2 adults, 3 kids and one "infant" <2) we'll need a suite. Any recommendations on hotels. Any with free breakfast?

I second Khokhonutt's suggestion. After you've read through the information in that link, come on back for any questions you still have.

"Enough" days is something that varies deeply from person to person... and depends on how much of a Disney fan you are and how complete you need your vacation to be.
Two days can definitely be a satisfying vacation, even though there is far more to do than you can accomplish in that amount of time. If you're a rare visitor, 4-5 days is probably enough to have a "complete" visit.

Many people don't realize that even though WDW has 4 major theme parks, Disneyland isn't that far behind in the number of headliner attractions.

If you don't mind doing a little reading, here are some good resources.

2 days in Fall may be tricky if there happens to be Halloween things going on. I think those can make the parks more crowded and therefore, it takes more time to accomplish all that you might want to see.

If you are looking for a more affordable hotel with suites, you should check out the Desert Inn and Suites. They have a bunch of different room types. The earlier you book, the cheaper they will be. It's not a fancy place, by any means though. The breakfast is just pastries and cereal, I think.

3 days would be great, especially in Fall (as noted above). Many go for more. But if you only have 2 days, you'll still have a great time.

There is so much to do and see in California, I make trips make to L.A. and S.D. all the time for vacation without fitting in DL at all. But preferable I fit it in as well, if just for a day.

We like the Best Western Park Place Inn and Mini Suites. It's nice and close with a free hot breakfast and they have larger rooms as well. We slept our family of 6 in one room. Happy planning!!

Two days is definitely not enough. Even at five days which is the max you can buy you will still probably miss some things. Disneyland is smaller than disneyworld, but this little park packs a lot of punch! I would do three days minimum, and if you can swing it, go for all 5 days.
There are lots of places with suites, it just depends on your budget, if you are okay with motels or if you will only stay in hotels, and if you want to be within walking distance.
