Thought I'd share a few notes since we were there yesterday. It was me, DH, DS (13), DD (10) and my parents. We arrived at Mickey & Friends around 7:20, took about 10 minutes to get into our parking space (not premium, but one row from elevators on Mickey level). We were able to board a tram directly and security took about two minutes.
We walked down Main Street at rope drop. Pulled Indy FP (9 -10) and went to Jingle Cruise. Unfortunately they were short a boat, so we ended up waiting about 25 minutes, but the skipper was hilarious and we all had a laugh. Straight to HM, no line. Pirates, 10 minutes. Rode Indy. Pulled BTMRR FP. It was just after 10 at this point and we got some Dole Whip. Breakfast of Champions!
Small World at that point was probably the longest line we stood in all day. 25 minutes, I think. At least it's a long ride! Then we went and rode BTMRR. We had noon reservations for the Aladdin's Oasis PTN package. So we killed a few minutes and were there promptly at noon. We had done this package once before, so pretty much knew what to expect. The food is adequate, the eating space is fantastic. It really does feel like an oasis!
We were told the PTN package was sold out and couldn't believe how UNcrowded the viewing space was for the 6:30 show. (Although she told us they wouldn't let anyone in until 6:15. We got there at 6 and the majority of people were already there.) Also, the entry to it was convoluted and did not have good signage. My parents couldn't sit (we sat on the ground for the earlier CHristmas parade), so we stood directly against one of the railings and had a beautiful view!
Also, Olaf fell over on the Frozen float! Did anyone else see that? Small World is the beginning of PTN at 6:30 and by the time we could see the float, Olaf was already on his back kicking his feet and arms. I said to my family, "I don't think Olaf is supposed to be down." Sure enough, two seconds later I saw a headset woman sprinting toward the float -- she climbed right up the side. Two others were there in a flash. It took all three of them to get him upright again. The float had stopped by that point. The crowd cheered, the headset spoke to him for a moment, but he was dancing and waving to the crowd, so I think he was okay.
In sum, Thanksgiving day was WAY less crowded than I anticipated. CMs were cheery and helpful, and most people seemed to be in a festive mood. We thought the PTN Aladdin package was worth it, especially if you want to see the 6:30 show.
