DL on hot days

I was at the park yesterday and temps hit the upper 80s. I've noticed that on days like that, crowds tend to be lighter. In fact, I was there about a month ago and temps hit 103 (seriously). The line for Pirates at 3:00 on a Sunday was about five minutes. Typically, it's around 25 minutes at that time. Yesterday I also did Mr. Toad around 2:30 and only waited about 8 minutes. Usually I avoid Fantasyland after about 11:30 but, the weather being what it was, I decided to take a chance. PP was still 35 minutes. Armageddon could strike and there'd still be a 20-minute line for that ride ;-).

A few people I spoke with yesterday remarked on how light attendance seemed to be. Was anyone else there yesterday and felt that crowds were light?

On an unrelated note, I sat next to a girl on the Monorail (15? 16?) yesterday. She told me that she comes to the park a lot. In fact, last February, she was there 27 out of the 29 days. And I thought I was bad ;-). In any case, she was leaving and -- very kindly -- gave me her FastPass for Buzz. I was surprised. I had no idea that Buzz offered FPs. You learn something new everyday :-). Apparently BL FPs don't count against other FPs. That is, you get get one and then get on immediately afterwards for anything else.

Ha, so true! :)

Yep, Buzz FP has been disconnected for some time. I think you don't hear about it much because so often the line is quite short anyway. I recall that it used to have FP, then it didn't for several years, then it came back.

Re: light crowds yesterday, somebody else was remarking on that as well. Apparently Sunday crowds, especially mornings, have been unusually light lately.

(still recovering from our quick visit)...awww, so cute, it being in the 80s. It was in the very high 90s with heat index over 100 on Thursday and Friday.

Everyone is still recovering from the heat stroke they got on Friday. (holy heck it was so hot. as we walked to the hotel we saw multiple ambulance/fire truck combos outside of hotels, including PPH)

It also doesn't LOOK like it's a FP area for Buzz.

We just did Wed-Sun in the park and yeah it was HOT. Wed and Thurs pretty miserable, we'd do a ride then go in a store to cool off then onto another ride. Fri we didn't arrive until 5, had to wait for DH to get off work, and the evening wasn't too bad as there was a nice breeze. Sat in the upper 80s with a breeze was like a dream lol, Sun we definitely missed the breeze but it still wasn't as bad as our first two days.

I'd say the crowds were some of the lowest we've experienced in recent years with a variety of trips in Aug, Oct, and Nov. We normally do 10 hours minimum in the park and this time we did 7-9 and I think we did more rides than ever before.

I need to double check my count but I think we did buzz 10 times. It's quite handy getting a FP for it right before you get on another ride in TL because the return time is usually only 20-30 minutes from when you pull the FP.

Crowds were very light yesterday. We were shocked. It was hot but today is much worse heat wise and higher crowds too. It's only in the high 80's temp wise BUT it's very humid! We're dying today. Crowds felt like a midweek off-season day yesterday. It wasn't a ghost town but very very manageable.

Yep, crowds were lighter yesterday than our April trip (non-Spring break). We are a group of 8 and did 17 rides, dinner at Carnation Cafe, naps after lunch at the hotel, PTN and the fireworks. Plus a lot of shopping and a few character meet and great.. We couldn't believe it.

80s aren't typically considered hot in this area, are they? Maybe it's just because I've been coping with 106 degree weather 90 minute north of DL for the last week. I'm glad you experienced lighter crowds though. I do know I've been when it's 90-110 degrees outside. It's typically not crowded until the evening when the sun goes down or maybe in the early morning.

Last year when I had my AP, I went 2 times/month. There are a handful of people who you start recognizing. They're there practically every day. If I didn't have to work for a living and/or lived under 20 minutes away, I think I would have the 365 day pass. I could easily go for an hour or 2 every day and be totally happy.

If you do happen to be at DL on a hot day, remember to hydrate. Visit the rolling ball in Tomorrowland and give it a hug to cool down, or head over to Princess Dot's puddle park at DCA with the kids. It's good for a few minutes of cool down as long as you don't mind walking in wet clothes.

Good cool down tips! The high today is 91, it's the humidity that's killing us tho. I don't think the humidity is typical. It's hot!

We like heading to the Main Street Cinema when it gets too hot for us.

Yesterday and today have been nice compared to a few days ago. I think the drop in attendance might be due to something else. The 4th of July was also dead compared to last year. Maybe Disney's constant price increases are finally affecting crowds. I hope that is the case so they stop jacking up prices. Time will tell.
