help me....kids are 9, 7, 5...want a good swimming pool, easy walk, and something that has some "magic"?

thanks

The accomodations around Disneyland are mostly motels and some hotels with basic pools. Only the Disneyland Hotel and Disney's Grand Californian have really fun pools.
Here is a ariel view to show you the motels around the park. It is not like WDW where everything is so far apart. Also I put a link to a map of the motels.

The Candy Cane Inn is a pretty and nice motel with a small pool, wading pool and hot tub. The walk to Disneyland is about 5-10 minutes.
The closet motels to walk over from are
Tropicana
Best Western Park Place Inn
Desert Inn and Suites.

If you aren't going to stay at a Disney hotel, I would recommend the Candy Cane Inn as well.

We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel last summer, then at the Candy Cane Inn. The DL is NOT what you are used to at WDW. To me, there wasn't enough magic to make it worth 3 times more than we paid at the CCI!!

The pool at the DL hotel is awesome, but it was so crowded that we couldn't stand to be there. The pool at the CCI is very small, but there were only 2 people swimming there the whole afternoon I spent at it. There is a smaller pool at the DL that isn't as crowded, but that's just a plain pool. I guess it depends on what time of year you are going too, we were there in the summer.
