:headache: it is 12:16 AM -- got to DL yesterday morning at 8 AM-- (driving in from San Diego)
it is LATE, so sorry if dis-jointed
we saw a TON of characters-- stood in line at the PFF for a good 40 mins, it was at least 90 degrees (in the shade!) went to Ariel's Grotto.

while at Ariel's Grotto, i found out my meomory card WAS FULL (1 GB) WHILE Cinderella was at the table... ACK

so i delete a few.

then i go back on my card, and realize, that i have the SD Zoo still on my card.

so while eating--i start to delete a bunch of pics (they are on my HD) knowing we have DCA ahead of us.

somehow
(going too fast) i delete the ENTIRE card.

i almost want to CRY

i am a HUGE picture taker--and also a Scrapbooker...

anyway

i was sad during my expensive so so meal (but the character interaction was PRICELESS) and i have to tell my family ALL the pictures from the day were GONE
GONE
i lost my appetite.

anyway
i am a fairly positive person
(it was also my DD 10th bday) :confused3

i said,
i am 90% sure i can get them back... (when really, i was only 55% sure)

so
tonight
i d/l a couple of software
and i was able to recover 80%
i got the IMPORTANT photos back... (still not going to use this photo card, unless i HAVE to) i have another gig and a half of memory cards to use.

UGH

anyway
it is now 12:21 and we are getting up for a MM
i knew my fellow Dis board friends would understand my frustration and sadness
and mainly HAPPIENESS
for getting back the majority of pics... :cool1:

off to bed
PICTURES!!! and a trip report when i get back!!!:cutie:

wow, sounds like you had one long and one helluva day! good for you that you got most of your pictures back. have fun later today and looking foward to seeing some of those pictures.

WOW, thankfully you got most of them back. I would be devastated if I lost my photos and video. We are so paranoid about losing them that DH went to Circuit City today and bought an external hard drive to download the pics on it and my laptop so we have two copies of the photos just in case.

I always protect mine as soon as I take them cause I am paranoid that I will delete them by accident.

After each trip I take my card to Walgreens and have them put all my Pictures on a CD. I worry about my computer crashing and losing all my pics.

So glad you recovered most of your pics. :goodvibes

I can totally sympathize with you - a similar thing happened to us back in December 2004 at WDW. My card said FULL, so I switched my camera off, and switched cards over. I was devasted later that evening when I put my first card back into the camera to check in - it now read EMPTY!!! :scared1:
I thought I'd lost my DD opening her Christmas presents and dining at CRT on Boxing Day! :scared:

Since my camera was new, I called the manufacturer's contact number as provided in the manual. A very nice gentleman who worked there helped to calm me down and helped us recover about 90% of the pics! :worship:

I have never used that bad SD card since! :snooty: I now also bring my laptop to download my pics every night AND CD's to burn them to as a "spare" copy! Paranoid or what?

I had this happen to me on a trip to Florida. Can anyone tell me the software they used to try and recover these pics. I would love to try. Or do you think I should take it somewhere to try and recover them?

Thanks,
Michele

:scared1: my worst fear! We are debating about taking the laptop....this definatly goes in the "pro" column....

Glad you were able to get most of them back...

Find a Ritz Camera (http://www.ritzcamera.com) They now offer one hour digital photo recovery for about $39 from memory cards.

Also, Fry's Electronics normally has cards fairly cheap if you need more.

There are also lots of program to do this, do a google search, all of them should be able to be recovered, as long as the card was not used after deleting photos.

I'm glad you got most of the pictures back.. I know how you feel. A couple years ago on a family trip with my DBF's family to Mexico, his little bro (13 at the time) deleted all my pictures on my camera on accident. I was devestated, and he felt horrible, but there was nothing we could do. It was an accident so we just took more pictures the next couple days..

Hope you have a wonderful rest of your trip!

wow that sucks im sorry and glad you got alot back goodluck and have fun

We had a new camera for our family reunion ar WDW. I accidentally reformatted the card and was unable to recover days 1 and 2. :headache: With our first trip to DL coming in June I purchased another 2G memory card and plan to have them saved to a CD also. Glad you got most of them back.

That's the word I kept thinking of...if your camera suddenly tells you to reformat the card, do NOT NOT NOT NOT do it!!!!! It'll erase things.

My SD cards are so cheap (most of the ones we have were free plus shipping) that I have about 4 2GB cards and 1 1GB card. So cheap. And I don't have to have all my "eggs" in one basket.

the rest of the trip
when i got home for the night
i downloaded the pictures from the day onto my laptop. NOW i have to go and transfer 700+ pictures from my laptop to my mac... (desktop)
sigh

but it will be fun to look at them again (more slowly this time!)

just a lot of back and forth...
