I'm contemplating a crazy last minute trip to DL! It likely won't happen, but just in case, I was wondering which would be preferable - a standard room in the Disneyland Hotel or a club level standard room in Paradise Pier? They are about the same price. Obviously my real preference would be a spectacular room with club level and a perfect view in DLH or GC- but most aren't available so soon and that doesn't even consider the price difference :scared1:. I'm leaning toward the DL hotel, PP never really interested me, but I love to stay CL and even taking price out of the equation there isn't CL availability at either the DL hotel or GC.

i've only been to DL once, and it was years ago, but go to WDW multiple times a year. I'm not a big resort hopper, but since we likely wouldn't go go DL again anytime in the foreseeable future, what about a split stay? Do people do that at DL? Is it as easy to transfer luggage, etc as at WDW? If we did a split stay, I would also consider dropping the PP CL and doing a couple of days at GC and the rest at DLH. I'm looking at 8/12-8/20, if it matters.

I hope I used abbreviations that are correct! Like I said, I'm in an entirely different world looking at DL!!
Thanks for any advice/help!

I'd mush rather be at the DL Hotel because it's quite a bit closer to the park entrance.

I vote DL hotel but Ive never stayed at PP. From what Ive heard and read, PP isn't all that spectacular so I rather stick with DL hotel. Plus we love walking out right onto DTD.

DL Hotel is my vote. PPH is just "meh" and I do not think the club level is all that great. If you had a theme park view at PPH, maybe different story as it has the best view of all three resorts but a standard room is a pretty crappy view if that is what you want...well, not crappy, just looking out at Anaheim away from the parks.

DLH will give you much more of the Disney feel and bubble.

For a first and potentially only stay I would go with DLH, no question! The atmosphere, pools, and rooms are just so fun.

I vote for PPH Club Level! I have stayed in a PPH Club level room and at the DLH club level. While DLH club level is nice and it is closer to DTD and DL, I happen to like the PPH club level just a tad more. I personally think you get a little more for your money and I love the atmosphere of the PPH. Just my two cents.

Paradise Pier is actually a shorter walk to the park than DL Hotel, unless you are using the monorail in Downtown Disney. Walk across the street to the GC lobby. I would consider PP, if you think the Club level would work for you, with breakfast and snacks available.

I love all 3 DL Hotels......

Thanks for all of the replies! Things change quickly, when I looked again SV CL at PP was no longer available, but I also found the discounted rooms if we don't check in until 8/14. So we could have 2 reservations, one 8/12-8/14 at rack rate, and then a different hotel (if we wanted, or just a new reservation at the same one I guess) at a much better price. Unfortunately both are more than we had been planning to spend with a really great travel agent deal at WDW this summer, but still a possibility. If I wanted PP the entire time we could actually get a pretty good rate, but I'm just not sure I want to stay there instead of the other 2 unless it was there or don't go. Then I would stay there! I do have a question, and maybe I should start a new thread since it really doesn't have much to do with my original question. If I have 2 reservations, can I buy 5 day tickets with the first reservation even if it's only 2 nights, and then use the tickets through both reservations? Or would I have to buy them with the second, longer reservation? If that's the case could I get them to use when I checked in with the first reservation? Or maybe a package doesn't save money, and I should just buy tickets separately?

I would book separately and buy the tickets at Last Minute Travel Club (the best discount I've seen). There are coupon codes out there to join for free.

As far as the hotels go... It is very subjective. How much time do you spend in the hotel/room? For me, I much prefer DLH, but haven't been able to afford club level there. My husband, on the other hand, preferred PP Club Level. He spent a lot more time going back to the hotel to get the beer/wine and snacks and hung out in the lounge or the room. The lounge at PP closes at 8pm, so for me it's awkward to plan around hiking back there during the day and before it closes to make the Club Level cost worth it.
