I need some help. How is the DL Mickey's Trick-or-Treat party? Do you think it's worth it? We're planning a trip to DL for Halloween, but are not sure about spending the extra money for it. We've been to MNSSHP, and were not all that impressed. It was jam packed, and we just got some pictures of DD with characters in costumes, and a little trick-or-treating in. Is the DL one better? What does it include? What goes on in the Disneyland park at that time?

Any help is appreciated. :)

We are going to MToT party for the 1st time this year. Last year we were at DLR during one of the parties (earlier in October) and I did not ante up for the extra tickets ahead of time and then found myself to be a little sad as I saw everyone in costume heading into DCA, 'cause it looked like they were having so much fun!

Based on what I have heard the trick or treat lines are really long at first but get shorter as the night goes on. Also, in addition to candy you can get fruit leather or apples (which is what I will choose for DS).

The party on the 31st is going to be a little bit crazy, but even though we could have bought cheaper tickets to an earlier party we decided that the magic of being there on Halloween itself along with the fact that DH and I both get the day off to celebrate the founding of Nevada, it is worth it to us.

From my experience last year, nothing at DL changes during the parties. The crowds in the park were still heavy due to the fact that many locals go to DCA just for the party... but being that it is Halloween itself this year, DL may have some extra treats in store.

Thanks for the response! And hey, I'm from Vegas too! :)

Is there a special parade or fireworks that you know of? We were hoping that DL would be slower, and maybe have some characters in costume since we'll be there on Halloween. I hadn't thought of it being busy with all the locals.

Any other experiences?

It doesn't have any fireworks, but it did have a new parade that came out last year (it consisted of 1 float). So the parade was really short. If you don't want to spend extra money on the party, then the regular admission would be good enough bc of all the decorations and such. The characters (Fab 5) do dress up, and for the party they actually wear different costumes than that! But w/ regular admission, you can still enjoy Haunted Mansion w/ the Nightmare decor, Woody's Halloween Round-up, and the Golden Screams show at DCA. The only thing that you won't get if you didn't do the party is the candy, lights, and extra decorations. HTH!
