DL / DCA Trip with our 10 year Grandson.

We are planning on bringing our Grandson to Southern Calif. in late August. While my wife and I have been to Calif. several times this will be our first trip there with our Grandson. We are going to do DL/DCA fro 4 days. I'm wondering what else other than theme parks would be fun places to visit with him. Are there any movie studios etc. that would be fun to do. Thanks for any ideas.

It probably depends on age and interest. Universal Studios has a tram tour of a working lot where shows/movies are made. Warner Bros. has another studio tour, but I haven't been to that and can't comment on it.

Near Disneyland in Buena Park there are a couple dinner theaters. One is pirate themed, the other is medieval times. I know you didn't ask about theme parks, but Knott's Berry Farm is there, too and is very different than Disney.

You can drive to Long Beach and visit The Queen Mary and the Long Beach Aquarium.

Lots of very nice beaches nearby, too. I like Crystal Cove state Beach. I've seen dolphins, seals and nice tidepools there. There's a historic district on the beach and place to get hamburgers and shakes that overlooks the ocean.
