Thinking of a last minute trip to DL for daughters birthday in mid-June. Can live with the heat but HATE the crowds....yes I know their unavoidable in the summer. Anybody out there know if it matters when in the summer you go for the least amount of crowd? We were leaning towards June 18-23.

I took my nieces the same time period last year and it wasn't too bad. Good news is that Fantasmic IS scheduled for the dates you have mentioned. The time frame is also early enough in the summer that you should find discounts. Downside is that the Disneyland will close at 9 p.m. on the 18th & 19th.
Hoever, I still think it's a great time to go. you get long hours and the crowds are still manageable. If you utilize Fastpass right, you'll definately get everything you want done and hae some time for resting and relaxation.

the entire month of july and august is blocked out for southern california annual passholders which means there will be LESS locals there but could be MORE visitors so it is just the "luck of the draw" probably--you will love DL, just plan on resting in the heat of the day so you don't burn out!

I've been at DL in late August, late June, October, and April (in that order). After going in October, I would never go in the summer. The crowds are huge and the weather way to hot. It was pretty crowded during our April visit, too. In October, there were no lines and all the shows were going. At one point, I just kept getting on Splash Mountain over and over and over again. Absolutely no wait! And the weather was nice without being too cold.

If you have to go during the summer, I'd suggest weeks that have no holidays in them. Also, weekdays are usually a lot better than weekends. Good luck!

It's not bad at all in June, and the weather is usually beautiful--definitely not too hot. July and August will be much busier and hotter.

The earlier you can go, the less crowded it will be; however, the trade-off is that the park closes earlier the first couple weeks of June, and there are not parades/shows every night. Also, check the dates for grad nights in early June. The park could close as early as 7 or 8 p.m. if there is a grad night that evening.

Their are two grad nights during her stay and those are the nights that DL will be closing at 9 p.m. instead of 11 p.m. o rmidnight. They will, however, still have all shows (including Fantasmic), parades, & fireworks. Thr only date when there will be no Fantasmic is her last day (June 23).

We have gone in July, April and in September. September was awesome.....we went after school started and it was perfect....the weather and the fact that there was no lines!!! It did not matter if the park closed at 9pm .... we did not need anymore time than that. If you can wait ..... you won't be sorry!!!!!

<font color=navy>June 18-23 shouldn't be too bad. The crowds are moderately heavy, but not as bad as they get once we hit 4th of July - through Labor Day weekend.

So Cal weather has changed so much over the past few years, but June is what we call "June Gloom" because the days are typically overcast, with the sun breaking through around lunchtime. It's normally not humid, and the weather is pretty comfortable.

Everyone else gave good comments about vacationing at the DLR.
