Hello. My husband put in some bamboo flooring. It was his first time ever doing flooring. He did it to save money.

It looks great! He still needs to put in the wall thingy that goes on the floor border whatever its called. ANyways When we walk on the floor it makes noises like walking on plastic or like my daughter says a dog walking on flooring (sound of the paws/nails clacking on the ground). Is this normal or will it go away once he puts in the floor border mounds? I don't even want to mention it to him just yet. He did put a pad under the floor. We still have two more rooms to do in the future

Is it a pad under the flooring or felt paper? Did he nail the flooring with a floor nailer or float the floor? Is the flooring over a weed sub floor or concrete? Most bamboo floors are 5/8 inch thick, not 3/4 like older flooring, and are prone to making more noise than a 3/4 inch solid floor. I can see bamboo flooring floated on a pad making that noise.

Sounds like a floating floor. If the wood is not nailed or glued down it will have give and make a slapping noise when you walk on it. We have floating floors in our house and it will slap when you walk on it in certain areas.

Thanks everyone. Hubby is asleep but I think it is a floating floor. He didn't nail it down. Its a click and lock floor
