Divas, Zebra Domes, and Pixie Dust! A Week in an African Paradise! New TR Link Pg.145

Connor said to us, “I would like the safari more if the animals were real. It’s such a letdown knowing they are animatronics.”

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

After breakfast Charles stunned me by saying, “I think I will let you go ahead and will meet up with you later.”

Does he realize he's at Disney? He did sleep most of the way down. Maybe he just doesn't realize??? :confused3

she said it simulates what it feels like to be in a tornado.

I'm with you - that doesn't sound like any fun!

Now, this is where I had my own diva moment.

Sounds to me like your diva moment was completely founded!

Like a small child, I was obviously overly tired and over stimulated from our morning at Epcot.

:lmao: Hopefully you woke up refreshed!

Jackie, one mom cannot keep it all together, 100% of the time. We are not superheroes. It's tough. I've been in the same situation before and know it's hard to feel that all of your careful planning doesn't matter much to your family at certain times. I'm glad you got something to eat and had a nice nap. That seems to do the trick for me too. ;) Connor is adorable protecting you from being scared! Cute stuff.

Oh, you might be surprised -- my diva nature has a way of rearing its ugly head every now and then. :rotfl:

I have no comment, being by nature...quite similar. :lmao:

I know I am the same way about food -- I think that was part of my problem -- not having had anything except a cinnamon roll up to that point. I felt so much better once I had inhaled my Bacon Double Cheeseburger and took a nap.

I would so love a Bacon Double Cheeseburger and a nap right now. :thumbsup2

He cracked me up with that -- he was looking out for me and my well-being -- Chelsea was all ready to put me through the torture of experiencing tornadic conditions (which was probably payback in her eyes for the Haunted Mansion). :lmao:

I love that. Your son is all concerned, your daughter's ready to throw you to the wolves. :lmao:

I hadn't thought of it, but the whole Kim Possible thing over the course of the rest of the vacation does indeed become very much this year's TSM -- only a little bit different.

Hoo boy. :rolleyes1

Hey!

I'm back and almost back to myself. Lol. We had a blast!!! Not sure when we will be back with new baby coming! ;)

By the way, look at my siggie and the color of my ticker. :)

After these last couple of pictures, I'm ready for a picture of something from your African paradise that has a very small tongue, please.

Do you have a flamingo you can share with us this morning?

Or maybe even something with no tongue at all.

Like MAGICFOR2, I had a one time experience with a boy who kissed like that. I had happily put it in the deep dark recesses of my mind until she brought it up, but she hit it exactly right, it was about like that giraffe. Yuck!

So, if you have an AKL flamingo who is not sticking his tongue out an anyone this morning, or a balcony view, or a tribal mask, or even a picture of Chelsea bopping Connor over the head with his safari Eeyore....
anything to get things a little less slimy over here would be nice!

:confused3

Good for you for your Diva moment. We all need those once in a while. I've especially needed them at Disney when people are messing with my ultimate plan.

I'm doing something really scary right now...letting DH plan our next trip :scared1: It's only 3 days, and will be the weekend after the wedding I'm planning for our niece, I'll need a break and someone else to make decisions. We'll see how that goes :lmao:

ALos very cute that Conner thought the safari animals were AA, I'll bet that was b/c the only one you get to see really close up is Little Red who actually is anamatronic.

kimpossible.jpg

This girl is nothing but TROUBLE!!

She is responsible for the troll meltdown in March and France meltdown in June!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I mean, really, is Kim a hero princess: or a villain pirate:?

Oh Jackie! I don't think you were being a diva at all! I've felt that same frustration before. I think all of us experience one of those per trip!
I think all our senses are magnified at disney. If you're happy, you're really happy. If you're pissed off......well, it isn't pretty.:)

Personaly I would have stayed at the Lotus blossom and let the picky eaters go somewhere else. I'm mean. Just ask my kids.

I've never heard of the storm thing. what and where is it?

Jackie, I just love your updates! :goodvibes In random order:

LOVE that Connor thought the safari animals were audio animatronic! :rotfl: Too cute. Although I have my doubts about the lion on the rock who never really moves. ;)

Also :lmao: over Connor politely declining the storm attraction b/c his mom can't handle it. And equally :lmao: that Chelsea was so ready to sign you up!

You did quite a few new to you attractions that morning! :thumbsup2 What's up with Charles hanging back? Is Anita right - is he in love with the AKL? Thankfully dear Charles has since redeemed himself. :)

I am intrigued to hear more about Kim Possible. Although not terribly excited to hear it is 2009's "TSM." I do want to try this in Sept/Oct. So you need an appointment to play? How long did the Norway mission take?

Re: your diva moment. I agree with others that a) it's not really a diva moment; b) it's somewhat unfair for the other parent to show up and change the plans; and c) a bacon double cheeseburger and a nap could bring on world peace.

I'm sure they appreciate all of your planning. I know I do!! :upsidedow

Hey CP -- that is nothing. I think you made it clear what the problem was -- no one appreciating what you had done... The planning does take so much time, and while everyone can be flexible, unecessarily changing plans is not fair to the person who spent all the time and effort!!!

Looking forward to how the rest of the day worked out! I am sure much better :goodvibes
Though your comment about Connor and your comments on my TR do sound a little ominous....

Jackie, I think everyone experiences a meltdown at WDW at least once!! Being tired, hot, and hungry can do that to you!! I deal with major blood sugar issues (I'm hypoglycemic) so I totally understand!! I hope things get better for you in Epcot!!

Too funny on the more real animals on the safari please exchange! LOL! They are so used to the fake things at Disney they don't even recognize the real deal! :rotfl2:

And hot and tired and Epcot (could that place be any bigger? I love it but just walking from the bus to Ball is long, never mind to WS) are all the ingredients for a little time out needed. Throw in some folks who are frustrated and and there you go. I think you did the right thing and going back for that nap was probably just what you needed. :thumbsup2

I can't believe on your past trips you had never done Nemo or Crush? Had you ever even gone in the Living Seas building? I love Crush, too too cute!

Your tiny diva moment was totally justified, and of course you bounced right back. We had our moments with Kim Possible too. We almost walked out the park with it.

I love the fact that you're doing the things you've never done. I always say I'm going to do this but then the favorites eat up too much time.

Can't wait to read about part 2 for the day.

Oh man, sorry to hear about the little problem in China and with the KP attraction. They say girls are the tempermental ones but boys definitely take their turn too! Happy to hear that Charles helped difuse the situation. Meltdowns do happen, even to adults! Glad to hear you got some food and some sleep too. I'm sure your evening went much better! :thumbsup2

She is responsible for the troll meltdown in March and France meltdown in June!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I mean, really, is Kim a hero princess: or a villain pirate:?

Wow Shocker, all this time Wigd. had me thinking it was YOU that was the cause for the trouble in Norway in March and it was YOU that was the cause for the trouble in France in June???? Who knew it was Kim Possible?????????? :confused3 I vote we throw her out with there with the sea vamps, maybe she can catch us a kettle of fish!! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

I have to say, in my personal option, you'd been pretty much a saint with Charles recurring disappearing acts. One person can only do so much.

Venting is good for the soul.

It also reminds your kids that you are human and they should appreciate all you do.

In the picture of meltdowns, it wasn't much. Me, personally, would have had a second one if they'd chosen EU for lunch, halfway across the world and then some from where you were in a hot, tired, hungry and unappreciated state. And then you went and waited in that line for the food. You are a saint. Seriously. I'd have said fend for yourselves or starve.

They were lucky they got food at all (oh wait, that would be me talking about MY family):rotfl2:

We all have a moment, I had mine with DS12, who would NOT go to bed one night. Well, every night but I digress. 1am is not my idea of time to go swimming even if you are "operating on west coast time" I reminded her what a hard time she would have getting up.

"I don't care"

Me. Well I do, we need to get up and out of here to hit (wherever it was).

"I don't care (i.e. I REALLY want to go swimming, NOW)"

Me. Well maybe YOU don't but you are RUINING the mornings for the rest of us.

Yep. Some great parenting there.

VERY good information about Kim Possible. I had no idea. It will help set correct expectations.

OMG-Jackie-you are not really a diva-you had a "meltdown" moment -which based on the situation- is really understandable...

You were hot, tired and hungry- (any one of those could result in a meltdown in the right set of circumstances...:confused3) Your carefully thought out and researched plans were under assult-I'm the planner here so I know what its like to plan so that your family sees everything trotting nicely along and not realize the reason everything seems so effortless is cause Mommy "made" it happen that way...;)

I tend to stay calm in 9 out of 10 of those situations and then on the 10th-well I kind of lose my temper...:headache: especially when being "questioned" on "why" I made a certain selection...and then its usually "well ok buddy you're in charge now-you figure it out..."...(& since I am far better at figuring out quick and spontaneous changes when called for-I'm usually met with a blank look...)

At Disney-when you make plans to eat somewhere-they've usually been thought out based on time and location, etc. and usually I've found the first selection often to be the best choice vs. changing it-unless there is a really really good reason to change...(I'm starting to really relate & empathize and feel your pain now...)

I think you were fairly even tempered considering-you didn't yell or sit down and refuse to get up or insist on Lotus Blossom...(sometimes- I get a little passive agressive in those situations and would have probably done something along the lines of "I'm sorry I've let everyone down by planning so terribly...since you all could do this so much better -tomorrow Daddy will take you to the parks and I'll go for one of the behind the scenes tours or a pedicure (assuming of course I could get ressies...) I'm sure you could do a bang up job without me...") that would get them thinking-my DH would look horrified...:scared1:

So I think you were more than entitled to a little "moment" and eating and sleeping a bit should give you a brighter outlook...:goodvibes

BTW-Connor is so dear to protect you even if perhaps he gave more info than you felt strictly necessary-:rotfl:

& a ? about these Kim Possible Missions-assuming you had had the time-would you have felt it was worth it to do more than one...?

or to rephrase -since these missions were obviously such a hit with Connor-how many of them could you have handled/thought were worth doing? (I'm curious because I was planning on doing one on our Epcot day but I want to know if I should plan in more...?

I'm looking forward to hearing more now that you've had your nap and burger...

Oh no what an interesting morning you had at EPCOT!!! I can't wait to hear more LOL!!!! I hope it all ended well!!! I'm sorry you missed your potential DISmeet with Anita! After all of that I really hope that cinnamon roll was really really good LOL!!! I think you were entitled to your diva moment and I don't think it was all the divaish...I couldn't imagine how I would have reacted with Prince P LOL!!

Well still can't wait for more!!

So funny about the safari.

Sorry you had a rough morning/early afternoon at Epcot. Being hot, tired, and hungry can make anyone snap.

Wondering if Connor got to do KP again later in the week.
