Diva & 27th Anniv Trip w/1500+ Pics, Photopass starts #765!!

Laurie - I totally lost my groove in commenting on your TR and other threads today, due to a variety of things (among them being the fact that my PC keeps locking up on the DIS and I can't get from thread to thread:headache::mad:), but I just wanted to say before I forget - those desserts at the BBQ place look amazing!

I really didn't have much interest in eating at the BBQ restaurant before. I like chicken, but I didn't think it would be worth it to me to spend that much money just to eat a couple of pieces of chicken, and nothing else really appealed to me that much. However, now that I've seen the dessert photos, I have more of an interest!:rotfl2: When that place opened, it was cupcakes only, I think. Then they revised the menu a bit, but I had no clue they added in cobblers and strawberry shortcake and that giant cookie thing!!

I love strawberry shortcake! I love cobbler! I love giant cookie things! Now I feel like I want to eat there just for the desserts! Or maybe I could justify it more now if I eat chicken and dessert!!

Maybe if all the stars align correctly and we end up meeting you during our Halloween trip we could eat there together...My boys will happily polish off the ribs (not really my thing either) and we could share one of those cookie boat things LOL

Sounds like a plan!:cool1: That's the sort of restaurant that definitely lends itself to groups eating together. I did Storytellers solo, but I know I'm not doing the BBQ solo, sitting there with a giant spread of food and enormous cookie creations!:rotfl2:

Otherwise, if not in October then I have to drag someone to eat BBQ in December (but the shortcake won't be sold then, I bet).

I have trouble justifying any "All You Eat Meal".....I really just pick at my food. I think I had a chicken wing, a rib, couple bite of beans & coleslaw & half my cornbread muffin. But it ALL was very good.

Yes the desserts are very yummy!!!! I tried the cobbler (last summer it was strawberry rhubarb) & the cookie bake during our summer trip.

You can make dinner for me any time, Capri!

The BBQ was so yummy! Thanks for not taking a picture of my plate(s), Laurie! ;)

You're very welcome!.......lol

Ribs usually aren't my thing...but these are very tasty & tender......make sure you at least try them!!

I tasted Brant's short ribs at BB which were wonderful actually and I will likely try these too as I do like to try new things food wise...My thing with ribs is not really about taste..I have this thing with sticky fingers so how "sticky" their BBQ sauce is will depend largely on whether I eat more than a taste or not.

I use a fork for everything & was able to get the meat off the bone pretty easily with it......I'm with you.....don't like to get my fingers all icky!

PS: They give you wet naps at the end of your meal!

It looks like a meal that needs wet naps...but I always carry a travel pack of baby wipes in the backpack...I do not know why I never realized it when the 4 older kids were young but when Colton was a baby I realized how often I used them for things besides the baby and they are a staple at home and esp on the road.

:thumbsup2 Baby Wipes.....not just for butts anymore!! :lmao:

I think that the BBQ is the best meal deal in the park. My BF and I eat there now every time we go. All the food isreally tastey! We've done dinner there, it's $5 more but you get sausage and corn on the cob too.

I really enjoyed your trip report. I didn't take very many pictures this year but I love looking at everyone else's!

The BBQ is one of the better deals!! During our summer trip, we did do the dinner.....the sausage & corn are really good too!!

I know when they first opened the bbq, the prices were up there with the character meals, because they had some characters there....not going table to table but for meet-n-greets....problem was.......outside people kept trying to come in & see them. So actually I'm glad they removed the characters & brought the prices down.....just wish the price included the drink.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!! I hope more people from our trip post pictures.....I love looking at the stuff I missed out on!!!

I think I might have to revamp my whole dining list for my next trip (and I partially blame you, Laurie, because of your BBQ photos!)! I tend to stick with the places I like - Carnation Cafe, Storytellers, even Wine Country Trattoria to an extent.

But I now have a new interest in eating at the BBQ place. Also, the Hungry Bear just changed its menu and added some tasty-looking items. River Belle Terrace has some yummy-looking sandwiches I would like to try. There are BBQ chicken baked potatoes at the Troubador Tavern that are calling my name...

I'd say there is some good eatin' to be had on my next trip!

Great trip report, Laurie - tons of pics :thumbsup2 Looks like you all had a really fun time.

I was going to say, Capri - is that your dinner?? Two margaritas :thumbsup2

Thanx Theresa!! It was a lot of fun!!

2 Margaritas seems like a great dinner!!! :lmao:

I was disappointed that the Hungry Bear Restaurant didn't open when Critter Country re-opened.....I thought it was supposed to....but it was still baracaded up on our last day.

My older boys had the sandwiches at the River Belle & they LOVED them!!

I meant to get over to the Troubador & check it out, but I missed it. I heard they have some yummy desserts!!

Day five for me, Day one for Mike (Monday, March 7):

We were up early to get our stuff all packed up. Jessica came back over to get all of her stuff.....we said our goodbyes. I had prearranged for a taxi to pick Mike & I up to transport us over to the Paradise Pier Hotel. Our pickup was at 8:30am. We arrived at the PPH about 8:45am. We went to "pre" check in & found out our room was already available!!! Well hot dog!! We breezed thru check-in, stopped at bell desk to tell them we were heading up to our room & grabbed the elevator to the 9th floor.

We had a DCA view room. Here's our room!!

Next up will be breakfast with Mickey Mouse!!!

I'm not sure what happened on the last installment, but the pics changed sizes & I even tried to re-do them & still different......very weird!

Oh man, I love Paradise Pier! I am so jealous of that DCA view! We didn't have that, only the pool. Very cool!

Okay, I can tell from your view from the PPH room, as well as the photos you took by the windows along the hallway to the elevator, that you were on the same exact side of the PPH that I was on. You look to have been on a much lower floor. I was on the 12th floor. (I also got into my room at check-in - in time to watch the sunrise! - so there is good luck to be had at check-in with those rooms on that specific side of the PPH!:rotfl2:)

I can tell you what the differences in your room vs. my room are (since I did not have one of the refurbished ones): The beds! Your room has the new comforters and bedding - probably new mattresses, too. Also, the daybed/pull-out bed is different. It's a dark color - not like the faded color of the pull-out in my room.

The other thing that is different is the wooden surfboard over in the corner, by the window and the daybed. My room did not have that. That's a cool touch!

I see they are kind of getting rid of the pastel color scheme that was present in the older rooms and making them look more modern.

Oh, and no one here on this board is going to wonder why you are taking photos of the room, the carpet, the hotel, the hallways, etc. - we all do that!:rotfl2:

In fact, we would probably wonder if you did not take photos of all that stuff - 'cause that's just what we DIS-folks do!! In fact, even when I didn't feel like snapping photos of the hotel room itself or the hallways, lights, etc., I made myself do it because I know it's almost...'expected'!!

I always love that flower bed by the Paradise Pier sign. I think the colors in the flowers seem to complement the PPH sign very well.
