Heidi, you need to look up Palmetto Cheese. I'm a Southerner(by the grace of God), and have had about a million different homemade versions of pimento cheese, and Palmetto is still the best. They sell it in 36 different states, so go to their website to see if it's in your area.

So, I have to ask...as a person who has never enjoyed pimento cheese...would it still be worth trying? I see it's available pretty much everywhere here.

Well, I might be the wrong person to ask, because I've liked about 90 percent of all the pimento cheese I've ever had. Palmetto is the best, IMO. My hunch is that if you try Palmetto and don't like it, then you and pimento cheese were just never meant to be.

It's funny because the episode inspired me to do special burgers tonight. The one with chorizo seemed the most appealing, but I keep coming back to wanting to see if a good burger could make me like pimento cheese. It says Kroger carries it, so we'll see. At the very least...I'll post pics and a heavily biased review!!!

@KingLlama I am sad to report that my Kroger did not carry Palmetto. There were a couple of other "inferior" brands as well as Kroger brand. The quest does not end here...but I'm just going to have some pepper jack cheese and avocado on my burger and call it a day.

My family went to Destin, Florida every summer when I was younger. My grandparents and great aunts too. And every beach trip we had to have a large supply of ruffles potato chips and pimento cheese. To this day I associate the beach and Florida and Destin with ruffles and pimento cheese. So. Good.

And pimento cheese on white bread? Yum.

Grilled pimento cheese sandwiches seem to be all the rage around Georgia lately. Haven't tried one yet though.

The name pimento cheese is probably what keeps me away. It just reminds me of something you deal with after four days in Iraq without a shower.

My burger is made from ground veal and ribeye mixed with mozzarella and pieces of crisp bacon in the patty, topped with cheddar and more bacon and frank's red hot. I don't see that on the menu, but fries with gravy and cheese curd sounds amazing.
