DISUK Book Club - Help Choosing Book Club Books

I've just been reminded that we don't have any books chosen to get us past September.

I'm not too sure how to go about getting a better mix - there was rather too much misery in our last batch.

Someone has suggested picking 6 different genres and then choosing the books. I've mixed feelings about going for a straightforward book poll, as part of having a book club is getting us to read things we otherwise wouldn't have done.

So I think we should suggest genres, then anyone can vote for the 6 most popular.

When we've got 6 genres we can pick 6 books (I'm thinking of allocating one each to the more regular contributors to the thread - if that is OK.)

Let me know what you think and suggest some genres so that I can post a poll at the weekend.

That was exactly what I wanted to suggest. As for genre, I would suggest:
Thriller
Classic
Chick Lit
Children/ Young Adult (there are some real gems out there that we might otherwise not consider)
Real Life
Fantasy
Historical

I like the idea of the regular contributors choosing on book each.
