This is my first trip to WDW, though I'm very familiar with DL in CA. Can anyone who's been to both tell me if the distance from the entrance to Splash Mountain is about the same. I've heard differing reports on how big MK is vs. DL. Some tell me MK is bigger (and more spread out) others say DL is bigger.

Thanks.

I think it is about the same...
I have been to both
Magic kingdom is bigger than DL...but it is about the same distance, I think.

I have been to both as well. MK in WDW is approx 105 acres, and DL is only 85 - so MK is a bit bigger and more spread out. Slpash Mountain is at the very back of the park but it's only about a 10 minute walk from the entrance if you have no distractions. ;)

I have been to DL more times than I can count growing up and still living in Southern Cal. and have been to WDW once about to be twice.
MK is definately bigger than DL but DL has many more rides than MK so that is proabably where the conflicting stories came from.
Splash Mountain is farther at MK than at DL but not by a huge amount. If you look at a MK map you can see the layout difference and Splash is "tucked away" more than at DL.

Thanks for the info. My main reason for wanting to know is so I can estimate the time I'll need to get from the SM area to the entrance to take the Monorail to GF for our DDR at 1900 Park Faire.

Cinderella_Mom -

Since you are trying to time a Dining resie I'll give you an additional 2 cents.................

My estimate of a 10 minute walk was assuming that you wanted to head for Splash first thing after park opening.... so there would be little in the way of crowds and such to navigate. If you trying to leave the park from there to make a dining resie at the GF there is NO WAY that 10 minutes is enough. At that time it will take you atleast double to make it to the front entrance and then add another 5 or so ontop of that to make it to the monorail platform (it is not right in the park like at DL) Then add 5 or 10 min to wait for the monorail - then I believe the monorail does the loop in the opposite direction - CR - POLY - GF - so add 10+ for that. Exit Monorail then make it downstairs to check in - add another 5.

So what I am trying to tell you is it will take you much longer than you might think - and believe me we learned this the hard way - by doing it. I would leave an HOUR to be safe. The GF loby is a wonderful place to cool off and take in the surroundings, you wouldn't be disappointed if you have a few extra minutes to hang around and explore.
