disposable raingear (silly question- Sorrrrrry!!)

For those of you who bring the 87cent disposable rain ponchos: Do you bring one for each member of your family multiplied by the number of days at Disney? Or can they be re-used? I like the idea of carrying such light-weight ponchos in our backpack/fannypack rather than our bulkier rain gear (especially since we'll be going during a hot rainy time), but it seems a little crazy to buy and bring 40 ponchos (5 people x 8 days) -- or is it?! (Yes; this is the level of my WDW obsession -- imagine my poor DH having to live with me! lol)

I found them 2/$1 at the dollar store. I brought 2 for each member of the family. We didn't need them, but it didn't seem like any trouble to bring them. (40 on the other hand...) I would have reused them if we'd needed to. I'd feel guilty throwing all that plastic away.

I buy a poncho for each day at Disney. When we are done with them for the day, there is usually someone in line that loves to take them from us. I really don't like to mess with wet ponchos hanging around the hotel room.

We usually take ponchos for half of our stay. I always have a gallon size ziplock handy in case we didn't bring enough (hasn't happened yet) and then I can stuff them in there in case we need them again.

Depending on the time of year I bring 2 or 3 each. Half the time we don't use any of them. Its the usual florida rain, 10 minutes then gone.
But if you are that obsessed, bring 40, this way for your next trip you will already be prepared. And your next trip and your next trip.....

I always throw them away too. If you really are willing to refold and lug around a wet poncho, you might as well get the cute Micky ones.

However, we bring enough for about half of the days. We haven't been during summer in a while, so it hasn't rained every day. Even in the summer, though, you don't always want to put a plastic sweat bag on when it rains. I would buy 20-30 if you're going when it's supposed to rain a lot.

I, too, usually bring enough for half the days we'll be there. I don't want to even attempt to get that wet poncho back in the tiny bag. You could buy 5 for each member of the family for what it costs to buy 1 at WDW and what I don't use I put in a bag of all my vacations stuff to use the next time.

Besides the cost, one of the reasons we bring our own is because they look different. Ever try to find someone wearing the same rain poncho as everyone else?

Thanks for your replies!! Bringing enough for half of our stay and carrying a large ziplock in case we need to re-use them sounds like a good compromise.

I bought a whole bunch years ago 2 for a dollar at Dollar Tree..they have served us well on vacation for about four trips now and have plenty left..and we used a LOT of them this month as it rained so much....We always carry a fresh one each day and toss it end of the day, as who wants to mess with a wet plastic poncho in the room and refolding can be a drag too....depending on what time of year would depend on how many you should take with you....

We about 15 for 3 people, but only used 7 or 8 of them. It rained almost every day, by the way. I had brought sandwich sized zip lock bags to put them in after using them. Each person carried their own. We didn't even attempt to fold them, we just rolled them compactly and stuck it in our fanny packs.

Maybe Im crazy but we bought the cheap grocery store bag feeling ponchos at Target and we reused them EVERY day of our stay. They were so cheap that the rain didnt hang on them it just rolled off. When it stopped raining we shook them off, rolled them up and stuffed them in my fanny pack. I agree with the whole looking different thing. I have NEVER seen so MANY yellow ponchos with the mouse on them in my entire life! It was incredible!! Disney makes their money on those things!The little bag our ponchos came in were about 3" x 5" and they worked great! We still have them and we are from Seattle!
