Ok, I know another stupid question from a non-flyer. Bear with me!

I just bought underwater disposable cameras for my kids (Typhoon Lagoon!!) and I see they are 800 speed. I have read here that 800 speed film should be hand checked. My question is....these cameras are sealed. Should I un-seal them before we get to the airport?

Other film is ok, right?

Also has anyone heard any updates on Northwest? I've been searching the net and can't find anything recent!

Here is a link to info from Kodak.

I wouldn't remove it from its original packaging before arriving at the airport. Be prepared that they may request that you remove it from packaging at the airport (but I doubt it.) I would leave it in its original state as much as possible.

Have a great trip!

(For all airlines)

I beg to differ. If you are going to request hand inspection I recommend that disposable cameras be taken out of the box and also out of the foil wrapper. Film cassettes should be taken out of the little plastic cans.

I haven't made up my mind whether to use the so called x ray protective bags for cameras and film in carry-on baggage. By the time they are detected (and the carry on x-rays can't be turned up that high) the baggage is already through the machine and will likely be hand checked on the other side.

(Never allow film or film cameras, exposed or not, in checked baggage)

Thanks! I checked out the web site provided and it did say this:

So I think I will bag the camera in a ziplock and have it hand inspected. Maybe all of my film.

Other things I've read....they don't want me to wear my underwire bra! Egads, that will be sight. No metal at all. I wonder if rivots in jeans cause a delay? I think every pair of pants I own has some kind of metal in it!

Rivets in jeans are fine, unless you are selected for hand wanding. They will set off the hand wand alarm. I know, from personal experience.
