DisneyWorld Hot and Humid late Sept compared to Darwin, Brissie, or Sydney

If DN doesn't come with us in Sept/Oct next year we're thinking of heading to Disneyworld. I know it's "hot and humid" but is it hot and humid like Darwin in the wet, Brisbane in January, or perhaps Sydney on really bad days? Or is it 50 times worse than all of them combined? .

I've been in June/July. It isn't as bad as the tropics (SE Asia or Darwin). I would imagine it is like Brisbane in January (can't compare properly as I've never been to Brisbane in January. I usually go March - Sept).

We were at WDW for the last 2 weeks of October last year. The day we arrived was freezing, like jeans and jumpers. For the rest of the trip we had fantastic weather. Temps were high 20's to low 30's. There was humidity, but it was mild. We live in Brisbane and it was not like the humidity we get here over summer. What I found strange about Orlando weather is that the hottest part of the day seems to be late afternoon, when we were expecting it to start to cool down.

It is not that bad! Really I am here now and last night, we walked out of dinner, going in warmish and came out and we were freezing, had goosebumps. Today walking around AK we have not been hot once, infact this morning we were so cold at the bus stop we were shivering and once on killamanjaro safari we were so cool we went to the shops looking for a jumper! Back at the hotel now and it's 6pm and the breeze coming in the window from outside is quite cool, I have a cardigan on! So days can be warm and humid. Last week was much warmer. Two weeks ago it was warmer again (in the low 30's). Once day at Epcot we were so hot we went back to the hotel. But most days until now it has been just right, not too hot, not too cold and I live in QLD. Two weeks ago it was like a Gold Coast summer day, today it was more like a Gold Coast spring/autumn day. If going in October I would certainly take a cardigan or light jacket or a hoodie for the evenings (we haven't worn jeans, but a we have needed long sleeves from early evening the last few nights and early morning

Oh my goodness, this is certainly a very useful thread! I hadn't thought we would need to take any "cold clothes" except for the flights as I presumed late September/Early October would still be hot all the time. So this is great advice and thanks so much

edit:Sorry , just realised you were talking WDW. We went to DL. I've left the post in case it helps anyone looking for DL at that time.

we were there in the second week of sept. No problem with humidity. most days were mid 20's copule high 20's and 1 or two low 20. Didnt notice any humidity at all and we are from Brisbane where we know humidity! While I dont have it anything else to compare to as it was our first Disney trip, I would say we picked a perfect time to go for both weather and crowds

We arrived WDW on 28 September and left 9 October. The weather was great. I didn't really feel any humidity to be honest and I thought I would since we certainly don't get humidity here in Canberra.

I was really nervous about the weather because my family doesn't like it to be really hot and we were pleasantly surprised. The weather was warm, but not too hot at all. It was just right, although about 2 days we were there I could've used it being 1 or 2 degrees cooler, overall we were thrilled. We didn't get ANY rain either which we were surprised about as it was forecast to rain a little each day.

I felt the hottest part of each day was between 2.30 and 5pm and that was when we went back to our resort for a rest and a swim to cool off.

We arrived on the 20th September and the first week was humid, like really humid but everyone on here knows I hate the humidity and most likely felt it more than others. Like Aussietravellers said in another thread about a week after we got a big storm and then things cooled down a little. That is the day Ms.Shuttergirl arrived so a week makes a big difference or just pot luck. If I went again we would go around the end oct,nov or early dec. I have heard that March is also a good time to go?

Have been twice in the last two years - in 2009 was from Sept 30 to Oct 11 and just a few weeks ago - Sept 23 to Oct 3.

Both times I'd compare the weather more to Darwin - humid and hot. The day we went to Universal a few weeks ago it was a stinker - singlet and short shorts weather.

Nightimes are nice, we didn't need a jumper at all, anytime.

So glad to see you back Oz-kateer I had wondered when you were returning. How did your family enjoy the trip. What about your brothers kids that you have did they enjoy disneyworld. I was thinking of you just the other day and what a wonderful job you do all by yourself.

Hi Kyl - yes I'm back. Just went back to work - tried hard NOT to log in to the net from home as I end up getting sucked in and sitting online for way too long, and had a lot of unpacking and sorting and storing of suitcases and washing and finding spots for all the junk the kids bought and getting the kids back to school.... back to work for a break!

The kids had a fabulous time, WDW was great but they especially loved New York!

Oz-Kateer, why did the kids expecially love New York? I'm still deliberating whether to add it onto our trip but presumed it would be more for me and DH than the children How old were your kids?

I think the kids loved NYC so much because of how "real" it all was. They loved Disney but that's fun and fantasy - New York was full of real things they'd only ever seen in movies, like the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Times Square, Central Park etc. It's full on light and sound 24/7 and they loved it. But they may be older than your brood - they are teenagers.

Yes, mine will be 13, 10 and 6.8 so I think you are right because although I'm sure my 13 year old daughter would be over the moon to vist NYC, I'm not sure my youngest two would be so thrilled !

Travel Mum, did i read somewhere that your MIL was cruising with you, why dont you send the children home with her and have a weekend in NYC for you and DH-
I am trying to tack 3days in NYC on to our trip (DH doesnt know) when else will we have a weekend in NYC so cheaply (would also like 3 days in washington and 3 in San Fran, but might have to plan another trip for that) we have to come home some time.

Oh yes Battymum, that would be lovely but my in-laws are doing it differently from us and starting their U.S. trip with the cruise whereas that will be the end of our holiday. I think that the reason (as well as reading all the fantastic recent trip reports there on this board!) that I keep wondering whether or not to add New York before we go to Orlando is exactly how you are thinking. We will be so close and would have to pay almost the same airfare again to get there on a separate trip. However, I must remind myself that, where others have added New York onto their DW trip, we have already added the cruise onto our DW trip so I'm probably getting a bit greedy and wanting it all
