DAY 8
Friday, August 21, 2009
Today was Animal Kingdom day. It was also extremely hot – bright, sunny and clear – not a cloud in the sky so nowhere to hide.

We did Everest, some of the trails, safari, Dinosaur, Nemo, lunch at Restaurantosaurus (didn’t realize it wasn’t McD’s anymore, which was fine with us) and a few other things before running out of steam and heading out by early afternoon.

We took a break at the house for a while before heading over to EPCOT, planning to snack along the way. We went straight back to World Showcase. In Mexico, DD grabbed a churro. In Norway, DD got a fruit tart and DW and I split a potato tort, which was very good and something we’ve never had before. We didn’t come across anything else we all could agree on until grabbing a funnel cake in America. Of course, we also did the shops and attractions along the way, too. We were disappointed when we got to American Adventure and were told that Voices of Liberty don’t perform after 5pm. They are my favorite act in Disney World.

After America, we headed back to the boat dock back to FutureWorld and headed out. We stopped at Subway on the way back to the house and DD and DW got sandwiches. I heated up the leftover pizza from a few days ago.

DAY 9
Saturday, August 22, 2009
Our “first ever” visit to Disney Hollywood Studios (it was still MGM last time we were there ). We arrived for rope drop and I split off and went straight to Toy Story Mania for FPs. What insanity. I’ve never waited that long just to get a Fastpass.

Once I had those, we moved on to a variety of attractions – Great Movie Ride, Animation, etc. until it was time for TSM.

TSM was fantastic! Really a great ride, fun for all. It is great to see that Disney can still do an E-ticket ride for the whole family that doesn’t involve a thrill ride with a board full of warnings and cautions. Lots and lots of fun. Definitely something that we will want to do over and over.

DD wanted to see Indiana Jones so after lunch at the Commisary, we slipped in for the 2:00 show. It started off okay, but after the opening scene (with the rolling boulder), the stage left set piece stalled as it was moving off stage. They paused the show for about 5 minutes trying to get it going again but couldn’t. So they did a brief fight scene and then sent us on our way. We’ll try and get back there later to see the full show. We were joking that it was the 2nd time we had “broken” a show there. On a prior trip, we were watching the car stunt show and two of the cars collided and they had to cut that show short.

Late afternoon, we hopped over to MK to catch a few things we had missed there. We started with Carousel of Progress and worked our way over to Frontierland and got FPs for Big Thunder. We had to kill some time so we took a ride around the park on the railroad. DD enjoyed that as we hadn’t done it for a while.

Oh, DD also bought the hidden Mickey book so we spent some time searching for those as we worked our way out of the park. We wanted to get out before SpectroMagic started. As we left the park, we headed toward the monorail only to be met by a CM telling us that the monorail was out of service. We had to take the ferry back to TTC. Of course, so did a zillion other people. We managed to be at the front of the mob so we were first on and first off of the boat. From the TTC, we headed back to the house and called it a day.
