Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

For those who have been waiting for Southwest to extend their flight schedule, reservations may now be made through Nov 3, 2017, as of early this morning.

It appears as though nonstops, in some markets, are being reduced, as the older 300s are removed from the fleet, and newer aircraft with greater capacity are being added. So, if you intend to book travel on Southwest, especially for peak travel periods, it's suggested that you book as far ahead as possible.

Booked my first Beach Club stay today! I'll be there this October! I have stayed at BWI and Swan, but have been wanting to finally get to experience Stormalong Bay! Any special tips for a BC newbie. Last year we stayed at the Grand and I loved it!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:woohoo:

The easy access to EPCOT/Food & Wine from the Beach Club is great! My favorite tip for staying at the resort is about the "secret" entrance/exit near room 1501. Depending on where your room is, it may be a quicker way to get to it. Even if you have a room elsewhere in the hotel, knowing this entrance can be helpful if it is really hot or raining because it gets you under cover quicker when returning from EPCOT. You can read about it and many more tips and helpful tidbits about the resort in Posts 13 FAQ an Post 14 Other Useful Information on Page 1 of this thread.

I know everyone entering Stormalong Bay needs their magicbands. My cousin might be in Disney for a few days while we're there. She's either staying off-site or at a value. If my DH decides one day to nap & not go to the pool, can she use his magicband to go to the pool with me & the kids? Also...is this really frowned upon? I wouldn't want to do it if it is.Thanks!

These were taken October 2016 BC. I only took a photo of half the closet- was showing off my luggage! This was room 2600. Hope it helps at least a little.

Thanks!

Yes, that helps.

Except now I want that luggage!

So cute!

Not a comment about whether this could or should be done, but I believe this would be considered "getting around Disney rules" which we are not supposed to discuss or encourage here on the DIS.

I appreciate you asking for clarification in trying to follow the rules and trust that nobody here will criticize the question.

ETA: You won't have a problem if you all go to one of the 3 quiet pools at the resort.

Re: the luggage-

American Tourister has them under collections on their website. They are often on sale for -20-25% off (depending on soft to hard side). I just checked and some are on sale now. And they are much less expensive than if you bought at Disney. (Also they were less than the luggage we were going to get to replace 15-20 year old set!)

Thanks for the reminder! I had it on my calendar for this morning but then got busy with work & forgot to check. Prices for me in Oct out of PVD are quite high. I wonder what they were like at opening? Oh well too late now. I'll wait it out.

I was on SW website at 6:00 and dates had not been released. I kept refreshing and still at 6:15, no dates. I checked back at 6:30 and they had posted. The flights I selected were $156 and $135, which I thought was great. However, I was buying 4 tickets and by the time I typed in all the info and double checked it, when I clicked to complete the transaction, I got an alert that said the rates on flights selected had changed! I've only flown SW twice before and never had this happen in the middle of a transaction. I thought if you were able to select flights, that's what the price would stay until the transaction was completed. So I went back and was able to choose the same non-stop flights and they had jumped to 195 each way! Instead of paying $1165 for all 4 flights, I ended up paying $1560. I was not a happy camper, but I've just now looked and those same flights are now $220 each way! I searched for 1 and 2 persons instead of 4, and prices were the same. There were only 3 non-stop flights, so I guess I'm just lucky I was able to get the non-stop flight I wanted. I will keep checking to see if the price comes down later on.

14 days and a few hours until our first BCV stay! I have a couple of quick questions:

If I need to purchase the extra towels/washcloths package, do I do this at the Beach Club resort or at the Villas?

We plan to use Uber to get to a couple of early morning dining reservations at other resorts. Do they pick up directly in front of the BC resort or is it near the bus stop?

We are on the dining plan, where do we get our refillable mugs, the Marketplace?

Thanks for any input, this is our first onsite stay, so trying to make sure I have everything sorted out before we get there! So excited!!!!!!!!

Where did you find this info? I am stalking prices for Nov 4-11 and would like to know when the next booking window will open up.

From the main Southwest page, scroll to the bottom and click on Flight Schedules. They usually have there when the next block will be released.

I have to say, the Standard View we had on YC's CL was actually rather pretty. We were in 5170, overlooking the bus stop and front portico, plus lots of trees and that little pond. The noise from the buses was MUCH lower than I'd expected, and it was a really nice place to enjoy my morning coffee. I'm planning to request it, or one nearby, again, because it was also REALLY convenient to the lounge.

Unfortunately the only pic I have is a bit blurry because I was photographing my kiddo and my yummy yummy welcome beverage. :drinking1

Hi Jenn - front portico sounds like a nice peaceful view. Although both my kids LOVE the pool I would definitely request a room away from it since the noise can sometimes distract my two year old from taking his nap! we will also be at the YC in a CL standard view - last week of June. I'm curious to know where the club lounge is located on the 5th floor - is it the room a few down from your room, 5170? Also, is there an outside sitting area? thank you for any additional infomation!

That happens a lot with SW unfortunately. Just choosing the flights doesn't hold the prices until you pay for them. Definitely keep checking for drops. I fly SW almost exclusively to MCO. I don't always purchase my flights on release day even for busy travel periods like Columbus Day weekend & Christmas. If I don't like the price I'll wait it out. 99% of the time the price drops over the next few months. You just have to be a website stalker.

And just a FYI so you can find it in the future. Go to their website, click Flight at the top of the page, you'll see Flight Schedules under the drop down menu, click that. That's where you'll see the next release date.

Oh, wow, I am so glad we didn't wait..! It would have cost us $1319 to fly from PDX apparently and that is with stops both ways... we booked with Alaska on a nonstop for $872 back in December...!

Makes me more comfortable with booking flights for our cruise on United yesterday... I keep having a nagging feeling I should wait on SW & JetBlue but its not always the best deal. I wish they would just release on a normal schedule.
