Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Long time lurker but first time actually posting here. DH, DD and I will be checking in to the Beach Club next Friday, Oct. 28th until Monday, Oct. 31st. This will be our 3rd Beach Club visit and we absolutely love it there! And we're super excited for our first Food & Wine Festival as well as seeing Hanson for Eat to the Beat!!!!

My boyfriend and I will be checking into the YC on January 21 until January 23rd! We added a few nights onto our trip (staying at Poly for the first 5 nights) and decided to use the opportunity to stay at an Epcot area resort for the first time! We love walking around the BC/YC and the Boardwalk after our Yachtsman dinners and cannot wait to spend the last 2 nights of our trip there :goodvibes

We saw them setting up for the party this afternoon. So sorry to hear that it is disruptive to guests.
We noticed on our walk back from Hollywood Studios another party is setting up now for this evening, a wedding reception with a band in the same area according to the front desk so a double-whammy for us on our two "early nights" despite the front desks insistance yesterday evening that nothing else was on the agenda. Doh!

Try to ask the front desk for a box fan. This helps to drown out noise. We used them at GF and kids slept through the fireworks and the ELWP every night.

We checked into the BCV about 12:15 and our 1 BR Villa was ready. I like the new update but I do miss the unique Disney feel of Pre refurbishment. Our Villa overlooks the canal & pool area. I was sitting out & saw a MK bus drop off in the Villa parking lot. I thought the bus stop was back at its usual place.
We saw them setting up for the wedding on the beach as well.
Off to Cape May Cafe for dinner in a bit.

Sunday October 16-Friday October 21
Yacht Club, Room 5152

Check back here- I'll add more pictures as I find them.

I'll try to get caught up here in the next few days, but of course I have pictures from 3 cameras to go through as well as fighting through a ginormous photopass account. This is my favorite picture of the trip, from the morning of our pre-open breakfast at Be Our Guest.

I typically stay at the Beach Club (5 past trips). Here are some comments from my first Yacht Club stay and for the resort overall.

I booked a YC CL GV room. Room 5152, overlooking the Wedding Gazebo, tiny view of the Boardwalk and Crescent Lake. Two queen beds and a chair and ottoman. Room was at the end of the hall, next to the Presidential Suite and was very quiet.

Condition of our room- fine, but dated. I look forward to a chic upgrade like the new Beach Club rooms. The paint on the very bottom of the bathroom door was peeling. Shower was not draining properly when my husband first took a shower, so he cleaned out the drain to fix it.

Clocks- none in the room. I asked someone at the club desk if there was a clock I could have for my room. He told me it was a common request, but they took the clocks from the room because they were too difficult for guests to set. Which I will confirm, I think we had trouble figuring out that one year. BUT. If many guests are asking about clocks, perhaps you should find some that are simple and add them back to the rooms.

Yes, you can use your phone but the rooms prior to renovation do not have convenient outlets at the tables next to the beds for charging overnight. One night this week, I accidentally pulled the cord out during the night so my phone was not fully charged the next morning.

Phone books- none in the room and I survived.

Fridge dimensions- I have been meaning to get the stats for YEARS. Remembered a tape measure and finally did measured a few minutes before we left the room for good. Now I just need to find my notes to post it. It was something like 14" H x 14" W, 15" L from back to door. Theupper shelf measured 8".

Ale & Compass- I was told the lounge opens at 6 am for breakfast and coffee.
Menu: will post here and on Page 1, Post 7 Dining

Pool News:

SAB Closed at 9 pm this week, I believe. I think it opened at 9, but it could have been 10. We were never around at that time.

I had heard that the indoor shower room and changing area near the arcade was going to be completed by the end of October but I didn't see any sign of the work, so I asked. I was told that things were just starting to be moved out of the arcade area that week in anticipation of the construction.

When I was floating around the lazy river, a lifeguard commented that I looked very relaxed. We talked a bit and I asked him if he knew how long it took to make 1 trip around the lazy river without paddling, just letting the current move you. He guessed 5, but 3 years ago, I timed it to be 7 minutes. So he told me to make a revolution and he would time it.

This years time: 7 1/2 minutes.

Bus News: Bus boards at BC are working. The ones at YC were not.

For the most part, the wait for the bus to AK (did this once, 7:30 am) and to MK were less than 5 minutes. We had one wait to the MK that was around 15 minutes, the night we were meeting friends at Kona at the Poly. We mostly use the monorail to get back to the YC during the day from MK through EPCOT so we can spend some time there. We never had to wait very long for the bus back to YC from Magic Kingdom at night, after Wishes Monday night, when we left the Halloween Party around 11:30 on Tuesday or when we returned back after Hallowishes on Thursday night. We never had to stand on a bus to or from YC. We had to stand once on a bus from AKL to MK after our dinner at Boma, 7 pm.

Early morning Breakfast Bus: We had a pre-open breakfast on Tuesday. We were out at the YC bus stop at 6:40, but there was nobody there, so we walked to the BC stop. One other woman who needed to be at MK for a tour joined us at the stop. I think the bus came around 6:50. The driver asked where we were going (all MK), but he said if our breakfast was at one of the resorts, he would be able to drop us off.

OUr Magical Express to the airport from YC was at 4:40. So perhaps the pickup time is on 10 past the hour and 40 past the hour. But not positive.
Stops on the way to YC: Airport - Caribbean Beach-Boardwalk-Beach Club-Yacht Club
Stops on the way from YC: Beach Club - Boardwalk- Caribbean Beach- Airport

We liked the Yacht Club a lot. I would not hesitate to stay at either the YC or the BC. I like that all the YC club rooms have full balconies, but to be honest, we were so busy, leaving the resort early and getting back late, with pool time in the afternoon, that I didn't have much time to sit out there.

The club level food was very good and there were lots of choices. The lounge is large and was never crowded while we were there. I have lots of pictures- Shocker- from 3 different cameras so it will take me a bit to get organized.

That's the report for now!

It did not suck!

Wow - that Category 5 sounds YUMMY! Can't wait to try it and the famed Sunken Treasure in a mere 19 days!

Thanks especially for the detailed bus review. We are driving down and I'm torn about using Disney transportation (which we've hardly used) or our own...

Yum, I can't wait to have a Sunken Treasure next week! And that Category 5 doesn't sound too bad either!! In all of our other trips we would always just walk up to Hurricane Hannah's and order a drink, but are there servers who walk around the pool area to take drink orders? That would be stellar!

Just remember- if you are going to the Magic Kingdom, it is usually faster to take the bus because it will bring you right to the entrance gates. A 15-20 minute ride, plus the wait time for the bus to arrive. If you drive, you will be dropped off at the TTC and will have to take the monorail or ferry to the entrance gates.

Depending on what you are doing after a visit to AK, driving might be better and driving between resorts is definitely the way to go.

There are servers who walk around and take both food orders and drink orders. It is very convenient. :)
