Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

It's The Final Countdown (play song from Europe here)....

This is it! Last week of work and we leave this weekend for our first stay at YC/BC and our first visit as DVC owners! I can't thank everyone enough for all the information (and humor) on this thread.

I especially want to thank my fellow Bay-Stater Dee for all her hard work!! :worship:

I promised DH I would "unplug" while we are away but if I get any good intel on BCV rehab, I will post as soon as we return!!

Awwwww!!! Thanks! I hope you have the most magical of trips!

And thanks for bumping up our thread. We were on the 2nd, or maybe even 3rd page of the Resorts board!

I got my letter from the Beach Club Itinerary planning office for our February trip on Saturday and I only made my reservations on Thursday!! I had already booked all my dinning on line, I like playing around with it. I did request a small cake for our anniversary to be delivered to the room the evening of the 18th, and they took care of it!! Sent the request at 8am yesterday and 10:02am I had an email from Kaitlyn confirming the order for me!! Very impressed with the prompt response.

The IPO office is fantastic at the YC/BC.

Oh my goodness what is happening to us?? Have loads of people jumped ship on the newly reorganized thread or are we all just not as "social" as we used to be??

Well done on bumping us up again :)

Hi everyone! I'm thinking of splitting my March stay and ending our trip at the YC. Are there any renovations/pool closures I should be aware of? SAB is the main reason I'd pick YC so having it be closed/partially closed would be awful.

Soo....I started with a standard view for my vacation in March. A week and a half ago I upgraded to a garden view with hopes that I could get a good partial view of the lagoon. Tonight, I just upgraded to a lagoon/pool view and I'm going to pray to the disney gods that I get a nice view of the lake! I have nothing really to plan at the moment since I'm 62 days away from FP+ selections...so now I keep messing with other parts of the reservations. SHHH, don't tell the husband! hehe! Disney is getting me in trouble with being able to modify my room views via the website.

10 days until our 15th anniversary BC CL trip! I have two questions, and they both are about transportation. (I know there is a transportation board but this one is so much nicer! I read all the time but just don't post often.). Our flight does not get in until after 10 pm. I just got travel docs and they say something about luggage delivery for flights landing before 10pm. Does anyone know if this is something I should worry about? We have had late flights before, checked our bags and just packed pajamas in our carry on. Luggage was there in the morning. Second, has anyone used Uber for a party of five? It is not legal in upstate NY yet, but I dread the downtown Disney bus. Thanks!

I tried searching for some answers to they but didn't find exactly what I was looking for...we have a reservation for a garden view room, are there any special room requests that I should make that would maybe get us a "better" garden view than others? I've never stayed at the YC before and am not really familiar with the layout of the rooms. We are a family of 5 with a couple of really light sleeper so I usually request upper floors and corner or quieter rooms...but would trade those for a cool view from our room if I had to pick :-) TIA!

Magical Express will not pick up and deliver your luggage if you land after a certain time. 10pm. You would have to handle your own luagge.

Ask for a room near the wedding gazebo. The rooms are close to the lobby and have a sideways view of Crescent Lake. I think it is the best view you can get in the garden view category. :)

We were really spoiled in July when we ended up with a water view for our 1 night standard view booked reservation. I am hoping not so much for the view for our December stay (3 nights prior to Poly), but would love to request a similar location... Namely next to the "secret" Door that exits towards the wedding gazebo. Online check-in doesn't exactly list that as an option. How would you phrase this request and how would you present it? (Call. Fax, what is the norm?) Thank you!

4 months from today I will be checking in to the YC! And then it's straight to France to get the orange slushie! :drinking1

We used Uber for 6 people multiple times, just make sure you pick UberXL. The Uber XL cars all had 3 rows of seating. If others in your party have not used Uber make sure you send them an invite from your app, we used Uber 12 times any only paid for it twice we had so many free rides. The majority of the time it was cheaper than a cab but at least once it was more expensive. Sometimes they increase their fares due to high demand, they will alert you to the fare increase so it won't be a surprise, still worth it to us.

I'm leaving in 3 weeks for my first YC stay -- do you request when you check in, or call or fax ahead of time? I've also got a garden view room booked. TIA!

So terribly behind, sorry friends :grouphug: Very excited for my DHs 2016 call schedule to come out so we can request vacation time and I can make my summer trip dates set (well for me that may not be too set LOL). Right now we have July booked at Poly CL with a special rate. After a lackluster GF CL stay, we are rethinking Poly. I want to come back to the BC. I have rates for late June and early August (my AP exp. 8/13), so I am definitely hoping for one of those. Not that I would mind the Poly, however last week we realized how much more we enjoyed staying on Crescent lake. There is always the possibility of AP rates trumping my TA as well. Next month I'll be at BWI, and I plan to run over to give Teena a big old hug!!! Back to my homework :)

I always call them to add the request to the reservation. You can ask them to try and switch your room to a better location once you check in if you don't like what they gave you. But they do try to honor your request when they do the room assignments.

I second the gazebo view. Thanks to @Katesdad for the tip, we had a beautiful view in May!

ETA: I can't get the photo of the actual gazebo to post, but this is the view you are hoping for by requesting "gazebo view"!!

Room number 2648 is a corner room that faces the parking lot side of the resort. I can't find a room 2649 on the map, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. :)

Our room was definitely a corner room but due to the pitch of the roof, we had no view of the parking lot at all but our side view from our large windows was that of the Villas and the courtyard which was pretty. We also had a partial view of some of the higher Illuminations fireworks :).
