Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

We're at the Yacht Club now after having spent the second night of our three night stay before moving to the Polynesian. Weather has been great. Some afternoon/ evening thunderstorms, a little hot midday and very humid after the rain, but not bad at all. I was worried about some reports of the Yacht Club rooms being run down but our room is beautiful; not at all worn or tired. I booked a standard view and was upgraded to a garden view overlooking the quiet pool. We can see Hollywood Studios Frozen Fireworks from our 4th floor balcony. Staff has been very friendly. Great stay!

6 more days until our first stay at Beach Club! I'm getting very excited. My Mom decided to join us so it's no longer a mother/son trip, but she plans to mainly hang out at SAB and visit the BW and DTD. She wouldn't do well in the parks all day in the heat. She saw pics of SAB online and asked if she could come with us, lol! My son still doesn't know about the trip. I kept it a secret at first because there was a good possibility I would need to cancel due to some family things but now we are able to go and he doesn't know so I think I will just tell him the morning of when he needs to get ready to go to the airport. Thanks for all the updates and info!

Sorry for your loss

So sorry for your loss. We lost my FIL, who was a true lover of Disney, to Alzheimer's last October. But we have great family memories of our trip to WDW with him and wouldn't change it for the world.

Thank you BC friends!

@scottygirl - that sounds wonderful, being able to share Disney love with him, and having those memories! It is a sad disease and unfortunately you don't notice the changes - the losses - as they happen -- it is so gradual, that all of the sudden it has happened.

I have a memory of my grandparents taking us to Magic Kingdom -- I must have been 10 or 11. They had been living in Florida on the beach and we split the vaca bw their condo and Disney. One day they took the 3 of us kids to Magic Kingdom to give my parents a day to themselves. Only now do I understand what an undertaking that was taking a 10, 7, & 4 year old to MK for a day!

Heading to SAB shortly, I am so happy for all who will be arriving soon. Alas I am leaving Thursday and already sad.... That said I get to spend my birthday here tomorrow (how awesome is that??) We had a delicious Captain's Grille breakfast this morning. My family actually preferred it to Cape May. I am STILL FULL! We all had the buffet! YUM. Dee hope you are continuing to get better, because I can't wait to see pics of the DISMEET!

Happy early Birthday to you! Enjoy SAB and your remaining WDW time. Great to hear about CG breakfast buffet. I may have to eat breakfast there one day. I've been drooling over the lobster omelet, though - might be hard to pass that up instead of the buffet! :-)

51 hours (give or take) until we check in at YC... Getting very excited, we will have a rental car, is there a covered area to park to take out the luggage if it's raining? How far is parking from an entrance? I'm starting to really over think "the little things." Thanks for any advise.

Its official! Airline tickets have been booked and the trip has been paid for - my girl friends and I will be checking in at the BC Nov. 10 for a week long girls trip! We are so excited! :yay:

I just want to thank everyone for adding to the excitement with their glowing reviews and oh so pretty pictures of the BC! :thanks:

You will have no problem at all.

I love the name for this architectural feature...porte-cochere

Continuing to catch up... I have updated the Be Our Guest list through Page 168, but I will add everyone else once I get caught up.

I'm feeling better every day. I'm no longer wheezing when I go up and down the stairs. Made my first venture out to the real world today, taking Nate to the dentist. It went fine. I have a lot more energy and I am getting antsy, but I am still pretty mostly following doctor's (and husband's) orders to rest.

Need to get myself back to normal for my Darkside and Beach Club escapades in about a week.

Hello all,

I will be at the Beach Club next week and have a quick question for the experts! If you had the choice of taking a Disney bus or driving your own car to blizzard beach and typhoon lagoon, which would you choose and why? I have never done the water parks before or stayed at BC before, so this is new to me. I have all the other transportation issues worked out but this one.
Thanks for your help!

:welcome:

I believe your trip has already started, but I wanted to give you an official hello!

Hope your trip is fantastic!

:cool2:

Hello to you too, and thanks for the tips! I am trying to plan my next Disney trip to go as smoothly as possible (my last trip in '09 shall be nothing compared to my next one!)

:welcome:

Do you have an upcoming trip booked? Where and when?

:goodvibes

Has anyone ever requested beach view at BC. Our first choice, BWI boardwalk view was not available. We have a water view room reserved at BC, but in the past had a quiet pool view and didnt love it...we really want a full balcony too!

:welcome:

When is your trip?

I think I would word the request "Full balcony, please with Crescent Lake view"

:cool1:

I'm so excited! We just booked a Disney cruise for next June, and we're planning on a few days at Universal and a week at WDW afterward. Since we're flying all of the way across the country, we figured we'd make the most of it. :D

I went to book a resort at WDW, and was shocked to see that BC standard and garden views were already all gone for our June 2016 dates! But YC was available in a garden view, so I snapped that up. Last time we were at WDW (2014) we stayed at YC and loved it, so we're looking forward to doing it again. Maybe even the same room...

Anyhow, I'm glad to be back in the BC/YC lovers' thread, and planning a WDW trip!

So, what's the skinny on YC refurbishment? I see a lot of stuff in the OP about the BC and BCV, but nothing about YC refurbishment dates?

:welcome: back!

Sounds like a fantastic trip! We will be heading to the Dark Side for the 4th time in about a week. Are you staying onsite?

:cheer2:

Others have responded since you posted, but to recap- we keep the first post of this page updated with the latest info about the resort rehabs. Unfortunately, we haven't heard a start date for the Yacht Club work yet.

:)

Got our magic bands today, so exciting! 26 days out!

Was a very nice package to come home to, after a long day / weekend -- my grandfather's funeral today. It was a beautiful memorial service and merciful end to his battle with Alzheimer's, but it is a very hard thing, always, to say goodbye.

I'm due to refresh my memory of all the BC details on this post!!
SORRY for your loss.:grouphug: Alzheimers is such an AWFUL disease. :scared1: NICE to have a beautiful vaca to look forward to!:thumbsup2

You don't have to choose between the lobster omelet and the buffet. At the Captain's Grill if you order a breakfast entree you can also get food from the buffet. It is really nice. :)

hi all! leaving for BC in 10 days!! Anyone think the wing closest to epcot will be done by then? A few questions, I would read the first post because I know its probably there somewhere but I have a baby who will probably only give me 5 minutes of computer time lol. Do all rooms at BC have balconies, I cant remember? And can babies go in the pool with swim diapers or do they have to stay in the kiddie section? Thanks!

Hard to say about the wing closest to Epcot being done.....

Right now, they are in the process of doing those rooms, plus the rooms around the pool and the rooms on one side of the volleyball court.
