Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Thanks to all those who have given resent LIVE updates!!! 9 days til our first time at BC!!! I am absolutely freakn' out with excitement. I'm already struggling to sleep and all your photos and posts aren't helping the situation :hyper::laughing:. But keep them coming, they are feeding the adrenaline:cheer2:

Fridge works fine. I think the AC doesn't seem so bad because it was so horrendous at the Marriott I stayed the night before.

Guess just goes to show it's all about perspective!

Ariel's seashell bra is an absolute toddler magnet. I wonder if the photopass photographer uses a clicker to count the number of times Arie gets groped.[/QUO

i really want to meet your kid-she seems like a scream! How is she handling all the handling?

Anyway, we think we are going to book a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas on the Disney Dream then move to the BC to do F&W and MNSSHP after. Has anyone taken the bus or would you suggest getting a car service? Just wondering on the travel time from the ship to the hotel. We thought about trying the GF but DH said we know we love BC so guess we'll save GF for another trip!
We used the bus a few years ago and it workd just fine. We went to POFQ and spent the day in DTD before flying home so we weren't in any rush to get to parks or ADRs or anything like that. Just wanted to relax and transistion back into reality.

39 days and counting until we are at the YC!!!! :dance3:

Has anyone entered the International Gateway for an EPCOT breakfast ADR? We booked the F&WF Parisian breakfast at Les Chefs de France, it starts at 9:00 AM, but the ADR says to arrive a little early. I know the EPCOT front gate lets people in early for ADRs. Will the CMs at the IGW also do that? Granted, it's a short walk, but I'll be with my parents, so we will be walking slowly. :-)

Looks like we check in the same day only we are at the beach club!!! Woo Hoo!:jumping1:

Since you're fishing....here you go.....

The resort did an awesome job in a difficult situation which was out of its control:

There were characters in rotation in the lobby of the YC and the lobby of the BC at all times.

They set out large quantities of cold water out in the lobbies.

We were told a convention center room over at the Boardwalk was set up and a bus ran back and forth all night long for guests who wanted to relax in airconditioning. With characters, complimentary beverages and food over there too!

We were given the options of moving to another resort, either temporarily for one night or for the rest of the trip, with travel vouchers included.

I would say the resort stepped up!

We chose to stay since we felt the resort would continue to treat us well.

As far as I know some of this information was relayed to guests via an automated voicemail. I overheard the front desk as well as the lobby staff answering questions and fielding complaints and concerns. As always I am very impressed by Disney and the Beach Club rocks!

It seems to me they handled things very well. Many of the problems reported at the Poly (like when the power was out at the newly-opened DVC units, a two-month-old hot tub that malfunctions regularly, etc.) seem to be related to a refurb being rolled out sooner than it should have been. But this seems like more of an out-of-their-hands sort of thing. I'm glad they handled it well!

And I'm not bashing the Poly. I love the resort and can't wait until I can go back. It just won't happen until the main construction mess is over with.

One of my favorite memories of a short trip that was full of great times!

:grouphug:

We rode it again today. Aria finally stopped demanding I not sing!

She's cute but also a complete tyrant. I think being the youngest of four has had a great part to play in that.

That's good to hear. DH would prefer we stick with Disney transportation that trip. We will be just enjoying the resort the first day off the ship so no hurry for us either. Just wanted to hear if people had an easy transition from ship to shore!

I call my six year old granddaughter a tyrant. She orders her older brother around like she was his master or something. I don't think it has crossed her mind that she is not in charge of everyone. :rotfl:

By the way, I am loving your trip updates. :)

I will definitely update the thread.

I've always loved the poly but the beach club has always been my dream resort. MK is my favorite park big there's just something about the BC.

We were initially booked for 10 nights at the BC but with the magical deal I just had to try the poly too. Who knows if I'll ever get that rate again.

Please post in this thread when you return and compare the two resorts. We love BC/YC, but the Polynesian is on my bucket list. It's the one resort I have never stayed at, but always wondered about.

Have fun on your trip!

That sounds like Aria. I'm always amazed when they listen to her.

After spending two days at the pool, I have to say, my home resort is BC/YC. I love AKL. We stayed at POR once and it was nice. I do want to try the Poly again. And the WL is very nice in many respects But no pool can come close to SAB for me. I remember the first time I got in it, I was just overwhelmed by the size of it. I couldn't imagine keeping track of my kids. Not because I was worried about them going into a "common area" to get to the pool slide. I know some folks are very uncomfortable with that. But it's just not something I worry about. But it just seemed so big. Once I got used to it, thought, it was great. I love the lazy river and the sand bottom the most. And I can't wait to enjoy it in a few days! Not to mention a Sunken Treasure or two!

My staycation at the BC is over and my family has returned home! I'm sad to have to return to work tomorrow! We had a great time!

Thank you for the great review of your trip and the pictures. If you get a chance, would you be able to add the pictures or room description to the Beach Club View thread. Or if you would rather, I can quote your post.

I also will add your info and picture of the GF Kitchen Sink to the Dining Post on Page 1. I am trying to have some helpful info for people with food allergies or other intolerances.

:thumbsup2

Hi! I'm sure this has been asked and answered before but I can't find the answer. Is there a way other than walking or waiting for the boats to start running to get to DHS early for rope drop? We went to a morning EMH last year at rope drop and waited for the boats. By the time we got there the lines were huge already. Do the busses run at all early in the morning? Or is my only option to walk if I want to get there before 7:45?

:welcome:

I see you posted recently with your dates. I will be adding you to the Be Our Guest list with the next update I do in a day or so.

:goodvibes:

What do they do with Aerial's? I remember eating there years and years ago. Why did they close? To me, it would make sense to have another restaurant available at YC/BC.

Ariel's was the site of a high school prom, when I was there in May. It was so much fun to see the kids all dressed up.
