Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

That thing right there is a good reason why I hope calorie counts stay away from Disney menus. :-)
There are no Calories at Disney! :goofy:
One time (years ago) when I called for a dining reservation, I asked about this. The phone agent actually told me the calories don't count because they add pixie dust to everything.

I figure this is a good time to share the official science with everyone.

Way behind here again- but wanted to give some recent posters a hello!

I'm sure I have missed other new folks in the past several pages, hope to catch up later tonight, during football.

9 Days till DH and I arrive at the Yacht Club, we are only staying for 3 nights.... getting a SW:GE first look.... FINALLY!

Seems like a good number of things are still available at the resort.

~ Can anyone been there lately that can tell me where I buy my refillable mug, and is it the Halloween one yet?
~ Any word on the Steakhouse opening?
~ Is the transport still limited to walking, buses or Sky-lift to DHS?

Thanks in advance for anything you can fill me in on.... we are far from Disney Newbies but this is the first time we have stayed at this resort.

:welcome:

Wishing you a magical trip!

I think you have received answers to the questions you have posted. If not, we are here!

My daughter and I are driving from NC on Oct 10 for our mother/daughter trip and it will be our first stay at the Yacht Club, hope you have a great time and can't wait to hear about your stay!

:welcome: back to the thread!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

How are they handling SAB as far as how many can be there? Are there long waits to get get in?

:welcome:

When is your trip?

:goodvibes

There was a wait to get in to SAB over Labor Day weekend. If I am remembering correctly, it was only a short period of time before guests were permitted to enter after being held up.

I think most of the time from now until the holidays- Thanksgiving and Christmas- should be fine, especially if the weather is cool. I'll be interested to see if there are waits to get in over Columbus Day weekend.

Here’s the progression as I’ve observed it.

*snip*

Hope that is helpful!

Thank you so much for this info.

Yes, very helpful!

I will write something up, sometime, to add to the FAQ post about how guestscan provide feedback about their stays.

:thanks:

I also got an email from the GM which takes you to that same website, although you have to have location enabled on your phone so it can tell you’re actually there. Twice it told me I didn’t meet requirements for sending a message, so I went and changed my settings not realizing that a very specific one was off (and I had to google how to find that after the message I got). Most of my time during my stay the channel with the QR code was having some issues, it was really digitized and the code just couldn’t be read, but thankfully that email did the trick.

I appreciate you sharing this experience.

:thanks:

I am so excited, we have reservations from Nov. 10-15. We have never stayed in a Deluxe Resort, so it feels a little extra special. Thank you everyone who has contributed to this thread, it's fun and helpful to read through!

:welcome: to posting on this thread!

I see from a subsequent post that you will now be staying "across the pond" at BWV. Wishing you a most magical trip!

This is one aspect we didn't think about when we made our AKL to BC to YC move. We like animals as well (we have our own menagerie including a dog) but the one thing that drives my wife nuts is dogs barking uncontrollably at night. I know the chances are slim that we would encounter this, but if we do I will be the one in the doghouse!

:welcome: to this forum!

When is your trip?

Just got moved to the Yacht Club due to our resort (Animal Kingdom Lodge) being closed. Very excited to spend a long weekend here. It will be our first time staying here. Quick question: how have the crowds been around the pool?

:welcome:

When is your stay here?

Over Labor Day weekend the pool hit capacity a few times and there was a (short) wait to get in, I believe. Recreation Cast Members have been escorting guests to empty seats, distanced from other parties/families at the pool.

Dee, as feared, I have to ask you to please use your eraser and move our October trip. The border isn’t reopening yet (per our airline, which canceled our flights) so we’ve rescheduled...again.

Was Oct 8-12, now Feb 19-24 - still YC GV

Sigh.

Got it!

This offers a very complete picture of both BC & YC, including some comparisons between the two.

Thanks for posting this. I'll add the link to the section in the first post comparing the two resorts.

Could you find out the nearest place to purchase bottled water in cases? They usually have it at the YC gift shop but wanted to check. ty :flower3:

I don't have the answer to your question, but I'll mention a couple of things I do when I am staying at Disney or other hotels:

I bring along resusable bottles for my family. If the the resort store has gallons of water, I'll buy that to use to fill the bottles. If not, I fill the ice bucket with ice from the dispenser and let it melt and use that to fill the bottle.

Yes. I AM that cheap!

Last Day - Late Afternoon Flight: I estimate that DME will pick us up at YC around 2:00 for our 5:00 flight out of MCO. We would like to enjoy the pool that morning and I'd like to know if there will be facilities in which to change at the resort once our room has been released. Are the public restrooms open at the resort at the moment? What are our options these days? Thanks!

Before they installed the locker/shower room at SAB, I would change in the large restrooms just outside of SAB. I think others have said these are open.

::yes::

Ok...Just moved our reservation from BC to YC for Nov 14-18. Frankly I hadn't been paying attention to the fact the BC never opened and started to do ADR and park reservations....so now for the 3rd fall in a row we are in! BCV in 18, Pop in 19 and YC now in 20. I am sure this one will be way different than the other 2

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

:cool1:

I would walk to HS. It's almost the same distance to the skyline as it is to HS from YC side - maybe a 1/4 mile longer to walk if that

:welcome: to posting on this thread, and thanks for the input.

When is your trip?

If you have room....we bring our zero water pitcher to refill our water bottles and use for better water in our coffee maker.

Intrigued by this.... we live in the country with our own well and have a osmosis filter on our sink for drinking water and cooking.

Does this pitcher take the weird taste out of water from the bathroom taps? Might be a good thing to try to squeeze into that suit case.... could always pack stuff inside it so it doesn't take up too much space.....

Yes! I'm in Fl and use it at home. Literally, zero taste and they come in different sizes. The filters are pricey but well worth it.

Thank you!!!!!

Jumping off the question posed by @NanetteG is the shower room by SAB closed now? We used that shower after our check out day swim pre-Covid. We aren’t back until January, but I was wondering. Thanks

As others have indicated, it looks like the shower rooms are closed throughout the entire Disney resort properties.

I don't have you on the Be Our Guest list so I will add you for January.

YC or BCV?

:cool1:

Is anyone there now? How have crowds been at SAB today?

:welcome: to the thread.

Do you have an upcoming trip?

:goodvibes

Just getting ready to check out before heading to the Poly. No lines to get into SAB midday Friday or Saturday. Plenty of room to social distance. It Looked a little more crowded Friday night after the parks closed but still plenty of room. Last night started raining around 8, no lightning so pool was still open but pretty empty.

:welcome: to posting on this forum.

Thanks for the info!

27 days for us! We are doing the same exact thing! I've never taken a trip with just myself and daughters and we've never stayed at the YC. Very excited! Hope you have a great trip!

Just Back From First YC Stay. We spent Monday-Friday at YC and I thought I'd make a few notes keeping in mind that we have no prior experience at this resort, so no way to compare to pre-COVID days. So, in no certain order:
* We chose the YC resort mainly due to its location with just a quick walk to WS, our favorite park. The Friendship boats were not running when we left today but we got a news alert as we were leaving that the FL gov was expanding capacity guidelines so maybe that's about to change....
* Our flight landed at 11:30 a.m. Through the My Disney Experience app I requested a King room with the notation that early check-in was our priority. Both requests were accommodated and we got the notification that our King room was ready about 3 minutes after we walked into the lobby
* I love the My Disney Experience app BTW
* We were assigned room 2109 which is a garden view room and very convenient to the lobby.
* We found the bed to be rather uncomfortable, especially considering this is a deluxe resort.
* We also found the room became stuffy during the night, but began to cool off again around 5a every morning. An energy saving measure?
* We had breakfast at Ale and Compass 3 times during our stay and enjoyed it very much. There is a smoked salmon bagel sandwich on the room service breakfast menu, but not on the A&C menu, but I was able to order it at the A&C without a problem.
* We ordered room service breakfast once. I'm not sure what Disney deluxe room service has looked like in the past, but ours came in a paper sack in disposable dishes and serving ware. It was promptly delivered and delicious, but if you're expecting a cloth-draped dining cart, that's not how they are doing things at the moment.
* Our second reason for choosing YC was SAB. Typhoon Lagoon and its lazy river is another of our favorite places but is it closed at the present time. I work in a hospital and DH works in the the chemical industry so neither of us has had a break since all this started and my priority for a vacation was to sit by a pool and have someone bring me drinks. SAB with its large pool complex and lazy river was just the ticket.
* Admission to SAB is limited to YC and BC guests and your magic band is scanned prior to entering and you're given a wrist band to wear for the day. Once within the pool complex you are permitted to remove your mask. The entire staff is very accommodating and we spend much of our time relaxing and enjoying the complex.
* Not knowing what to expect, I originally reserved a cabana for Wednesday when we planned to spend the entire day at SAB; however, once we realized how light the crowds were and that we would not have any problem finding lounge chairs in the shade, I canceled our reservation. The cabanas are nice and if we're ever there in a crowded summer I will definitely reserve one in order to have a dedicated shady spot to spend a day.
* Floating devices (both seated and inner-tube) seemed to be limited at the moment - I guess in an effort to regulate capacity? The blue sitting floaties are wonderful BTW! . ........ Rant Alert ---- There are only 9 sitting and 5 inner tubes. It is very selfish and very rude to take a floating device to stash by your lounge chair so you can have it available when/if you decide to get into the lazy river. At one point, when several of us couldn't find any floating devices but saw a group with a stack of floaties piled up behind their chairs, we simply walked up and took them and let the selfish SOBs deal with the attendants. Please don't be that person. And, if you can't find a floatie when you want to get into the lazy river but see someone with a floatie stashed under their lounge chair as they're reading their paperback, you have my permission to take it and enjoy the lazy river. Rant Over.

Those are the highlights. It's been a long day so I'll post on the "Just Back" thread tomorrow about our other experiences. Overall we really enjoyed or stay at YC and look forward to visiting again some day. Let met know if you have any questions. Thanks to everyone for all of the great info on this resort!
