Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Hi All! I am a looong time lurker, occasional poster. My DH and I are celebrating our 30th anniversary and will be at YC Garden View from 9/17-9/25. Here is my question: We are doing a tour that starts at the MK, and we need to be there by 8:15 AM. The MK does not open until 9:00 that morning. What time do the busses start in the morning? If they do not start until 8:00 (one hour prior to park opening), I don't think we will make it, what with travel time, getting through security, etc. I certainly don't want to be worrying the whole way there. Is it possible that the busses start running at 7:30? We are doing the VIP Ultimate Day Of Thrills tour. Someone on the transportation board said that the hotel would arrange transportation, but I don't know about that. I am just hoping that someone will know that the busses start at 7:30 AM and then we will have no problem.

Thanks!

Congratulations. Lots of 30th anniversary celebrations. We will be there right after you leave celebrating ours.

I would call back the number you booked the tour through and ask them about transportation. I know they transport you between the parks but I am not sure if they do the transportation to the starting point.

Also where do they have lunch for that tour?

We checked out of BCCL last Thursday. I miss it so much! We were treated to a magical upgrade to a water view room - room 5687 - we had reserved standard view. The club level staff could not have been more accommodating and helpful.

Upon arrival at the BC, we were greeted with that lovely lobby smell - puts you right in the beach mood. If you love it too, buy the anthology candle - its awesome. We were escorted to the club level by a greeter from the main lobby. The concierge staff member was so friendly and offered us a drink of our choice while we checked in. She also gave us a tour of the refurbished club level lounge. It is beautifully done - so much room now!! We were given Happy Anniversary buttons without asking. Our room was right next the Nantucket Suite. Great view to SB, although there was a tree partially blocking the view, we didn't mind, it was still gorgeous. It has one of the small balconies but we don't spend a lot of time there so that was ok too. The room did have a rather funky smell on check-in. If you have a teenaged boy, you might be familiar with the smell - eau de gym locker. We had packed some fabreze and some essential oils so I went to work spritzing and sprinkling. We left the room smelling better than when we got there! Also, this room must be directly over the Cape May Cafe and the hallway smelled very strongly of fish each evening. Yucky! I wish they piped in the smell from the lobby to each hallway. We could not smell it in the room though. The food in the lounge is plentiful. Breakfast has a lot of variety. We only had dinner there one night but it was amazing - gazpacho and empenadas. Desserts also very good. My one complaint is that the selections are the same every day, except for dinner. I wish they would change it up a little. Even if they alternated stuff every other day. We were there 9 nights so we kind of got sick of the same thing. Everything was very good though. We were surprised to be able to see and hear the Star Wras Dessert Party from the room. Pool was dreamy - we had no trouble at all getting beach chairs on any day - at different times throughout the day. The whirlpool is broken and the lazy river is running very slow. Nothing beats that pool though! Warning - the cement at the pool gets SERIOUSLY HOT. Like burning coals! Watch your little ones feet! The pool closing at 10 pm is a huge bummer. Its one of the biggest complaints we had. It will be going in my survey for sure. Bus transportation was fantastic. The signs are helpful and accurate. The late boat back from DHS after the Star Wars show was a nightmare. We waitied over an hour for a boat. Took a taxi on our second DHS night as th eline was LONG for the boat again. The need to work on that. Quiet pool was lovely on laundry day - just a heads up - the laundry room washers and dryers are credit card only. That was a surprise I had not read about. Cheese flatbread at the marketplace was very good. This is our thirs stay at the Beach Club and I can't imagine staying anywhere else!

Here are a couple of pics of the view. From the outside, our room was the onein the middle under the peak.

Checking in to see if there is any more news on the post about relocating the YC bus stop back to the convention center this week? Thanks!
There is a thread on another website's forum discussing the upcoming expansion of the YC Convention Center, with a building permit pulled for work to be completed by August 2017. It appears as though some parking at one and maybe both (YC and BC) parking lots will be taken away for construction and rerouting of traffic.

:welcome:

Last August, I spent a little time early one morning to see what time the buses were rolling. I was there from 6:30 am to a little after 7:

On this day, Animal Kingdom opened at 8 am and Magic Kingdom opened at 9 am.

As I walked up, a bus was just pulling away.

6:30, MK

6:52, AK

6:54, MK

7:06, AK

I wasn’t able to stay and be a bus monitor any longer because it was time for me to leave to get ready for breakfast with the gals!

:car:

Checked into Beach Club today :woohoo:. We left Contemporary and arrived at Epcot at park opening. Managed to ride Soarin' (loved it!), Living with the Land, Spaceship Earth, SOAT, Test Track, Canada Pavilion show and a breakfast at Garden Grill (first time here for breakfast and it was incredible). After all of this, we checked into BC at 1:00. We ended up being given a room in the perfect location (2nd floor, right above lobby) but ... only 1 bed and a pull out. So, we went back to lobby and had to wait until 3:00 to get a room with 2 queen beds (no day bed, but we are ok without it). Still in a great location - third floor, a couple of doors down from the elevator to the main lobby - just as we requested - near elevator by lobby:-) Ate at UK fish and chips and walked World Showcase (kaki gori from Japan, caramel from Germany Karamel Kuche), and used FP for FEA. Walked back to BC at 9:00. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the location of BC and I FINALLY found the 'secret way' by room 1501!

Bummer, I wasn't aware there would be construction going on for the convention center, hopefully it isn't too loud or disruptive. Most of the time we'll be out or by the pool anyway.

image.jpeg DH's surprise sunken treasure I purchased today at the pool. He's hooked now! I agree pool pavement is hot! Saw the pirate at the top of the slide. He was dressed in a purple shirt and waving his pirate flag! Not sure if he takes over the slide at the top or not?! Used IG to get into EP this morning at 9 (they let us in beginning at 8:50) and had no trouble making our way to frozen with a five minute wait. After lunch we were back in stormalong bay for a swim. Only way to do Disney in this heat!

As far as noise, there should not be any problem. Of course, when you place your room requests, you can always request "away from construction."

If there will be any inconvenience due to the Convention Center project, I imagine it will be the more limited parking for the resorts.

OK, I need some help. ( FYI, I am posting this on BW thread as well)
So, usually I book a RO as soon as I can. After staying in a 2BR villa on our last trip, I knew that I wanted to do that again. I also know how difficult it will be to book that during F&W. So I am getting anxious that we may end up shut out of anything in the Epcot area, so I am thinking I should book 2 standard rooms now at either BC, YC, or BWI.
My question is, is there a significant difference in the standard rooms at each of these locations in terms of size, views, or anything else besides the pools? Also, why is the WV so much more expensive at the BW? ( approx rack rates for my dates, without tax, weekday/wknd: Y&BC SV: 422/490, GV/WV: 429/495, LV/PV: 509/561
BWI: S: 423/467, WV: 544/600
Any input on this choice is much appreciated! After hanging out here for a while, I know most of the differences, but I was puzzled by the difference in the cost of the WV. I have also been paying more attention to the info on the villas, so I need to get more info on the rooms.
Thanks!!

I think ( but can't completely confirm) the WV is more expensive at the BWI because it guarantees a view out over the boardwalk and lagoon as opposed to the others where it may be view of pool or SAB or lagoon

Just saw a thread about recently released Free Dining bounceback.

For guests who are there now- is there a bounceback offer in the room? If so, can you snap a picture of the brochure and post here or get it to me by email when your trip is over?

Thanks!

I just checked the folder in my room and it still has the 2016 bounceback offer.

Hi all. Time for a quick room review as my boys are still snoring and I've been awake nearly 2 hours!!

We checked in on Sunday at 4pm. I'd had an email with my room number but we needed to collect our magic bands from the desk. We had spent the day at universal but wanted to head out to MK as it was the last day IASW was open and it's my youngest's favourite ride. The room is great - 2520. I had requested low floor, full balcony online and phoned in a day bed request. We got the low floor and day bed (I was surprised by that as there is only 3 of us, but my 10 year old is a pain to share with as he moves a lot in the night!) but only a small balcony - to be honest it's so humid I doubt we'd spend much time on it anyway. So, we are just a few doors away from the secret entrance, we walked to Epcot last night and I couldn't believe how close it really was. The room is beautiful, love the decor. I think it's a shame the Mickey and Minne picture isn't in the main room but that's a small thing. I wasn't overly impressed with the guy on reception, I know we checked in on line but he basically gave us our bands and pointed out the elevators and that was it. Also it took bell services an hour to bring up our bags when they told me 15 minutes which was frustrating as we wanted to get to the parks and I wanted the water that was in one of the bags.

We checked out stormalong bay yesterday afternoon, struggled to find even one chair at 3pm even though most were only occupied by a towel! Eventually I saw a family looking like the were about to leave so we lay in wait and pounced! Had lots of fun there and looking forward to spending more time. Off to MK for the day soon so I'm going to get up and grab some pastries from the marketplace before waking the boys.
