Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

@Wood Nymph or anyone else who is there now, are the wait boards up at the bus stop yet?? Thanks!! Three more sleeps!!!
They did not have the boards up yet at the BC.

Hi Sue, Can you peek over the edge and see what kind of mattress it is, and if there is any kind of mattress pad on top?? :):)
Okay, I pulled up the sheets and found a mattress and a label. The bed is a Beautyrest by Simmons Hospitality. I took a picture of the label, just in case. ;)

I have sort of a similar question so figured I'd lump it in here. My wife has a girlfriend who moved local to WDW a few years back and she usually meets us for a day or 2 during our vacation. The last 2 years we stayed at the Swan so there was no real issue with her coming to the pool with us (there was no checking, etc). Is there a way to buy her "day pass" access to SAB for the day or days she may come visit? She's an AP holder and would have her own magic band, etc. I'd add her to the reservation but we're staying 4 nights and she at max would be there Saturday and Sunday, so rather not pay the $25/night additional adult charge for the duration of our stay.
You can add your friend to the room but they have to be added for the entire stay. They will take the extra nights charges off if you tell them that she has checked out.

Another option I'm thinking is just going to eat on trhe Boardwalk around 5:30/6ish and wife and I can munch/have a beer while kids eat. I noticed ESPN Club and Big River don't take reservations through Disney, though - do I have to contact them directly (and where would I find such info if it exists)? Or do they just not take reservations at all (and for those with extensive "eat on the Boardwalk casually" experience, do they fill up for dinner on a given night?).
We walked up to Big River Grille around 5pm and had no trouble getting a table. We have also gone to ESPN Club before 530pm and had no trouble getting a table. As long as you get there before 6pm, you shouldn't have a problem.

How do BCV compare to Yacht Club? Was pricing various options and for whatever reason BCV was cheaper than either Yacht Club or Beach Club by about $100 a night.

I assume you are pricing a BCV Studio. It will only have 1 "real" queen bed and 1 queen sleeper sofa instead of 2 Queen beds. You will have a kitchenette with a small sink, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and small fridge. It is part of DVC timeshare and as such it is not the same "deluxe hotel anywhere USA" decor of deluxe hotel properties. It has not been updated for a while. It has started a major refurbished and may be under construction during your stay. We are BCV DVC owners & love The theme. But it is definitely due for its update. Personally I'd be happy there but some people are disappointed.

What a day! I received a text early this morning from my sister, warning me about the bad weather in Chicago. She told me to check SWA because they were cancelling flights. I checked and our flight was still okay so we went to breakfast at Captain's Grille. We got back and packed our suitcases, waiting for the ME to take us to the airport. It was a good thing we didn't check our bags early because she texted me a little later to tell me that our flight was cancelled. It was a good thing she told me because Southwest never sent an message about our flights. :(

So I quickly booked a flight and could only get one out on Friday. Unfortunately in all the confusion, I accidentally booked a one stop flight instead of a nonstop. :( Now we are going to Chicago via New Orleans but at least we are getting out of here eventually. The good thing was that the BC was able to get us another room with the bounce back discount. And the room was ready so we moved right in. I'll tell you more about it later. Right now we are going to enjoy our "almost" lagoon view from our patio. :)

We have officially booked our Beach Club vacation for August 10 - August 18. It's my first stay at the Beach Club, so I am very much looking forward to it! I adore the Boardwalk, but I wanted to try something a little different and figured Beach Club was the way to go. We will also be spending one night at All Star Sports, as it was cheaper to fly out first thing on the 19th than the 18th.

I'm so excited to be here with all of you!

Just added park hopper tickets for our trip.....I couldn't be that close to Epcot and not be able to pop over at my leisure. I also booked the Marceline to Magic tour and the Behind the Seeds tour. So excited to try a few new things. I'm still debating adding on the WP&M option but may wait until we are there and see what the weather is like. Only 16 days to go!!!!!!:yay:

I have the Marceline to Magic Kingdom booked in late March. If you remember , will you please give a quick review , ? I have done Keys to Kingdom , Family Magic, an Animal Kingdom one that isn't done anymore and Mickeys Magical Milestones so far. I like trying something new each trip ( tour , restaurant etc) . Next month will be my first Flower and Garden as well as the tour.

Marceline is awesome. You go backstage at Haunted Mansion. You learn a lot about Walt's history.

I believe you can be in the Canada area along the walkway, but I'm pretty sure you can't go into the pavilion itself until 11. I don't recall the shops or carts being open, but may have missed it because the few times we have been in the park before 11 (my crew likes to take it easy in the morning) we've been focused on getting to Soarin.

I'm not sure about Canada, but we went in the UK area and spent quite a bit of time there looking for Remy for the scavenger hunt activity last year during food and wine. Totally fine. No one bothered with us being there.

Hi, Dee!

I just booked an trip to the BC from Oct.2-Oct.7 for myself and DD16 and DD12. We have four previous YC stays, but we got a magical deal for BC. I can't wait!

For those who have asked about the mattresses - here is a picture of the label on the bed we have at the BC.

Here are the pictures that I took of the afternoon tea area at the BC.

I'm sorry about the out of focus pictures. I tend to move the phone too much when I take a picture.

This is the door near the Marketplace that is usually always open. They close it for the whole three day period of the tea.

We're staying BC at the end of April for a quick, bonus trip (three nights, four days)--first time at BC/YC after several stays at MK resorts. After I made our reservation, we asked my (almost elderly) parents to come along, as they've never been and it would mean a lot to my kids. While we are staying at BC, I could only manage to get my parents a room at YC. Since I'm unfamiliar with the size of the resorts, I'm wondering if someone can tell me how inconvenient this will potentially be, given we'll all be taking busses together and dining together, etc. My parents are not exactly spry anymore, to put it kindly, and they will be relying on me for most details. What are the chances the front desk would be able to move my parents to BC with us? Zero? Maybe? If not, am I going to drive myself nuts walking back and forth every time my mom can't figure out how to send use her new cell phone or show her how her MB works? o_O

I think you have a good chance of getting the room switched. I would keep checking back periodically. Keep in mind that the deadline to cancel a package is 30 days out and 5 days out for a room ressie. I would be checking a few days ahead and up to those key dates as some rooms may open up as people cancel. Good luck!

The resorts are large. Is there any chance of you changing your reservation over to the YC, so that you can all be together? If so, you could request that your rooms either be connecting or close to one another. The buses stop first at the YC, then the BC. Sometimes, by the time the buses pick up at the BC, they are almost filled, with standing room, only (during peak times). You could, of course, go over to their room and escort them back and forth. All of the facilities, such as Stormalong Bay and the restaurants are shared. No matter which resort they are at, I recommend that you put in a room request, ahead of time, for their room to be close to the lobby, as the halls can be very long.

There are more families with children at the BC, but that does not mean that the YC is adults, only; the atmosphere is just a bit more sedate in the public areas at the YC. The YC is much closer to the boat dock, where you pick up the boats to travel to Epcot, the Boardwalk, and Hollywood Studios, so that may be better for your parents, if they will be visiting those locations.

My personal thought is that it would work out better for everyone, under these circumstances, to stay at one resort. Both the BC and YC are equally good, in my opinion.

BTW, all of the rooms at the YC have full balconies, unlike the BC, where only about half of the rooms have full balconies. The sit-out balcony would probably be nice for your parents to sit out and relax, if they want to take a break, or to just have a cup of coffee in the morning.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. Unfortunately I can't change my reservation ahead of time, as it's booked with the "magical" agency, and the only thing I could get for my parents was a YC room with the spring special (thankfully). I suppose I'm just curious how much wiggle room there is upon check in. I would definitely consider moving to the YC if that was our only option, even though I love the idea of the refurbished rooms. Thanks for the tip about requesting a room near the lobby for them--I didn't think about that!

I'd be happy to review our experience. Have a great time on your trip! This is our third Flower and Garden festival and I know you will LOVE it!:)

The restaurants and the main pool are centrally located, so if you plan to dine in the Epcot resort area and swim at the main pool, it won't be too bad. You can walk over to the YC bus stop to meet them there. But there may be an opening at the BC as you get closer to trip date, hopefully. :)

In other news - we were able to get a nonstop flight on Friday after all. I checked the SWA website this morning and found a nonstop flight for $90, which was only $7 more than what I paid for our original flight. Now we don't have to fly an extra 1,000 miles to get home on Friday.

We have had a lovely trip with warm weather and highs in the 70's until today. It is supposed to be a high in the 50's all day - brrrr. It's a good thing we are prepared with some warm clothes. We have had a lot of experience with cold January and February Florida weather so we packed well. I'm glad I have a pair of gloves.

Just wanted to share with my BC peeps. My nephew got accepted to the Disney College Program! He got the character attendant role and should start after his college graduation in May. Hoping we can visit him with a Beach Club stay!
You will have to give us details when he starts so that we can meet him. It may just be my sense of humour, but how cool to have loads of families come up to him and totally ignore a Princess/Character :rotfl2:
