Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Ok so here is a recap of our first day here at the Beach Club!

Hockey mom and I met at the magical express area at the airport. Using my special skills I imitated a Chimpanzee call to alert her to my presence. We hopped on the bus and made our way to the resort. Check in was a breeze with a very helpful CM who worked hard to make sure our requests were matched as close to what was available room wise.

Our room was not ready but that was fine with us because we stashed our carry ons at bell services and hit the marketplace for some goodies. Then we UBER-ED it to Walmart so we could stock up on wine, pool noodles and room snacks.

Next we Uber-ed it back to the BC. We found that using Uber cut our trip cost in half! Bye bye Mears taxi as we are now Uber converts! :thumbsup2

We stashed our booze with bell services and we were off to the pool! We floated around the lazy river occasionally screaming out the names of the missing members of our group to see if they had finally arrived. This is how we found Nannette! Now we were off to Hurricane Hannah's to drown our sorrows in Sunken Treasures and Pork sliders with a side of flies, or was that fries? It was hard to tell because this is when Buzzy the fly did a drive by to say hi.

Nannette, Hockey Mom and I finally got the text that our room was ready. Off we went to get settled in but we were still missing Dee who was ditching her family over on the dark side (Universal). We were being mean to her and making her puzzle out the room number from the clues we were texting her. Never fear because Dee is one of the sharper knives in the drawer and she soon figured out where we were!

Much yapping and clucking occurred when the 4 of us finally got together. After a quick shower to rinse off the remnants of Stormalong Bay we were off to Blue Zoo for dinner over at the Dolphin hotel. This was a lovely meal with Dee whipping out her camera to capture a full spread of food porn. Look for those pictures in her next trip report (hopefully).

We had planned to watch the fireworks from the Beach Club beach but it was thunder storming when we left the restaurant so we explored the Yacht club instead. Then it was back to the room for jammies and bed time stories before we hit the hay after a looong day. As I type this report I can hear the soft snoring of my 3 little monkeys. The monkey typing this report isn't far behind for that trip to the land of nod so I will end this report here.

For those of you with trips coming up I am happy to say that all is well in here at the resort. The pool water was wet, the Air conditioning was cold and the decor in the refurbished rooms was lovely. You really get the feel of the room evoking a clean modern feel. No more tired Beach Club rooms! I am also happy to say that ALL of the CM's that we encountered at the resort were lovely and had helpful positive attitudes. Special thanks go out to Bell services for being so accommodating and the concierge staff who checked us in. :grouphug:

Until later....

This was a GREAT post. Are you a blogger?

I love Uber! I used them at Disneyland in June, and I plan to use them at WDW in less than 4 weeks! :flower1: So glad you all had a great first day!

My room's MagicBands have arrived!!! :rainbow: Only 26 days to wait now!

Question - can we get birthday and I'm Celebrating buttons at the YC front desk when we check in? Also, related but kind of off-topic, but what are your opinions about how long to wear a birthday button on a birthday trip? My dad's birthday is the day before we all arrive. Since the trip is for my 40th birthday, he says his birthday isn't a special one to celebrate, but I'd at least like him to wear a birthday button and we will celebrate his birthday on our arrival day. My birthday is on Day 3 of an 8-day trip. Would it be weird to wear my birthday button on Days 2-8? Also, not to leave my mom out (because she did give birth to me, after all! :P) - I'd like to get her an I'm Celebrating button to wear. I really want to make this trip special for my parents - they haven't been to WDW in 18 years, they just moved to Florida, and they bought FL season passes and are quite excited and are already planning to come back in early December to see all the Christmas decorations. Thanks for any input! :goodvibes

Oh great question! My birthday also happens during our trip and my daughter's birthday is at the end of the month, a couple weeks after we leave. I'd love to let her celebrate her birthday while we're at Disney!

They should have them at the front desk when you check in. I say wear the buttons as long as you want to! We are celebrating my 30th Birthday there in November and its 2 weeks after my birthday. I don't think its weird at all to wear your button for the most of the trip.

Since the trip is specifically happening because you want to celebrate your birthday, I'd say wear the button the entire trip! We are taking our son to great wolf lodge over labor day weekend (going to be more expensive than beach club...). He's been asking to go forever and since it's a lot of money we said he could have it as his birthday present and it would mean he wouldn't have a big party. His birthday is not until Sept. 20 but since it's his birthday present we're celebrating! It shouldn't matter the exact day of your birthday, you're still on a birthday trip. Live it up! :bday:

For those still looking to purchase a good quality, inexpensive rain poncho, I just purchased one at Walmart for less than $4.00. Though it's marked as a "Kid's Poncho," its dimensions are 48" x 62". Trying it on, it reminds me of the ones sold at the parks, but without the artwork. The kid's size came in clear, blue, and pink. An adult version is also available, for just slightly more in cost. I first looked in the camping area of the store, but there was nothing that I liked. The one I purchased was in the same area as umbrellas. It even comes with a pouch.

It's only sold in stores, not online.

Couple of questions..... How much was the Uber each way to Walmart? How far of a drive was it? And you mentioned pool noodles but I thought those were available for use at SAB?

Dee, is that a new refillable mug design, or a really old one?

Don't know about Uber but the pool noodles.... They have clear tubes avaiable at SAB for free. You have to purchase noodles at the Marketplace or bring your own.
