Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Hi all. I don't post often but really enjoy all of of your trips reports and useful information so I thought i would share too. We just arrived home today from 8 nights at the YC. So sad. :( This was our third year at the YC (magical labor day deal) and we are more in love with the Yacht Club every year. We originally booked the Poly to switch things up this year but got nervous in the spring of the construction there at the Poly and switched back to our trusty YC. We were in rooms 1548/1550/1552/1554, right behind the elevator bank with a view of the gazebo. It was so great not to have to use elevators and also be so close to SAB if you wanted to run back to your room. Things I learned from staying on the ground floor for the first time is that not all balcony lights are on. Only random balcony lights come on (not ours) and the gazebo had lights on it but never was lit at night. We did love being able to walk out our patios to each of our family members patios as we were all next door to each other. PLUS, we could walk like 20 steps from our patios and see epcot fireworks to the left by the marina little building and then Frozen fireworks a few minutes after to the right. There was a few benches right behind the marina building in front of the lagoon that was like our own little secret to view the fireworks. We loved it! This was our favorite YC trip as last year we had record heat and a terrible view of garbage on the roof all week and this year our rooms were so perfectly located. We had terrific mousekeeping but the rooms are ready for a rehab (our tv cut out on our last night after acting up all week). Our patio and closet doors sounded like someone was doing demolition when opening any of them but still we love the resort! When we checked in last Friday, August 21st, Magical Express dropped off at the convention center and no one with an ipad or anyone at all was aware we arrived. Because we knew the resort (having stayed for two prior years there) we found our way to the front desk and they seemed mortified that no one escorted us from the convention center. They originally told us at check in that the bus stop would be at the convention center for the duration of our trip but a few days into the trip one morning a little magic happened and we were informed that the bus stops at the front door of the lobby were up and running again. Love how things happen overnight in Disney!

My granddaughter dropped a Stitch stuffed animal purchased earlier from her stroller in a dash to the bus stop at MK one afternoon and my daughter called me to ask me to check lost and found on my way out of MK (I was a few minutes behind). I decided to just grab a new Stitch in the Emporium on Main STreet as I didn't think a random Stitch doll (not in a bag even) would be at lost and found and when the CM asked me at checkout if I would be taking Stitch with me, I explained to him that my granddaughter just lost her Stitch between the gate and the bus stop and I was replacing it and he called over his manager and explained I was ready to pay for a new Stitch but could they just replace it for me and he cut the tags off and told me to it was taken care of. I NEVER expected not to pay for the new Stitch and only explained the story because he asked if I was taking Stitch or sending it back to my resort. Totally amazing cast member! I will contact Guest Relations to make sure he gets a shout out for that! So kind. Stuff like that only happens in Disney.

Anyway, in total depression that our trip is over and will continue to live through all of your trip reports and useful information to get us through until a new labor day deal comes out to book for next August!

I hope everyone there now and with upcoming trips enjoys themselves.

Would you say the beach club is fairly full or not? I am seeing lots of posts about upgrades. We are checking in Thursday in standard rooms which are just fine for us but I am dreaming...of course...

Our reservation on MDE 'my reservations' page shows
Check In: Thursday, September 3, 2015
Check Out: Monday, September 7, 2015
Room Type: Standard View

Is that where people are seeing the room type change? When did it change to show the upgraded room type?

Hoping for some pixie dust for you! I too have been stalking our reservation as well for an upgrade. Lol. We don't check in until 9/5 so I have a couple extra days to stalk. :)

I think the resort is pretty full right now

I noticed last night that my reservation had changed which was the night before I checked in. If I understand correctly they assign rooms approximately 3 days in advance so you could start looking when it gets close to your checkin day.

We requested connecting rooms with our daughter, we each got connecting rooms but hers was on the 3rd floor and ours is on the 4th floor. Lol.
Oh geez. We requested connecting rooms too. Knowing they aren't guaranteed I am at least hoping for adjoining or my mom will be really disappointed. Our TA told her there is a good chance they would honor the request, but I am on the edge of my seat.

When we were there in June we were upgraded from standard view to garden view and it never showed in MDE until after we checked in.

If the weather channel just read this thread they would understand things. Erika is very much afraid of what will be happening when NinjaMom and her monkey friends arrive at the BC, so Erika is running away!

Darn tooting that wimp of a storm is scared of us! I huffed and I puffed and I blew that storm AWAY! The only problem is that we are back to our regularly scheduled Florida thunderstorms. It's a good thing my Disney poncho is opaque so my drip dry nekked butt is tough to see.

:banana::angel::thumbsup2Y

Erika is/was a tropical storm heading towards Florida.....the storm is named Erika. I think her last name is Storm...

:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Ohhh.... I get it..... FINALLY!

Ok so here is a recap of our first day here at the Beach Club!

Hockey mom and I met at the magical express area at the airport. Using my special skills I imitated a Chimpanzee call to alert her to my presence. We hopped on the bus and made our way to the resort. Check in was a breeze with a very helpful CM who worked hard to make sure our requests were matched as close to what was available room wise.

Our room was not ready but that was fine with us because we stashed our carry ons at bell services and hit the marketplace for some goodies. Then we UBER-ED it to Walmart so we could stock up on wine, pool noodles and room snacks.

Next we Uber-ed it back to the BC. We found that using Uber cut our trip cost in half! Bye bye Mears taxi as we are now Uber converts! :thumbsup2

We stashed our booze with bell services and we were off to the pool! We floated around the lazy river occasionally screaming out the names of the missing members of our group to see if they had finally arrived. This is how we found Nannette! Now we were off to Hurricane Hannah's to drown our sorrows in Sunken Treasures and Pork sliders with a side of flies, or was that fries? It was hard to tell because this is when Buzzy the fly did a drive by to say hi.

Nannette, Hockey Mom and I finally got the text that our room was ready. Off we went to get settled in but we were still missing Dee who was ditching her family over on the dark side (Universal). We were being mean to her and making her puzzle out the room number from the clues we were texting her. Never fear because Dee is one of the sharper knives in the drawer and she soon figured out where we were!

Much yapping and clucking occurred when the 4 of us finally got together. After a quick shower to rinse off the remnants of Stormalong Bay we were off to Blue Zoo for dinner over at the Dolphin hotel. This was a lovely meal with Dee whipping out her camera to capture a full spread of food porn. Look for those pictures in her next trip report (hopefully).

We had planned to watch the fireworks from the Beach Club beach but it was thunder storming when we left the restaurant so we explored the Yacht club instead. Then it was back to the room for jammies and bed time stories before we hit the hay after a looong day. As I type this report I can hear the soft snoring of my 3 little monkeys. The monkey typing this report isn't far behind for that trip to the land of nod so I will end this report here.

For those of you with trips coming up I am happy to say that all is well in here at the resort. The pool water was wet, the Air conditioning was cold and the decor in the refurbished rooms was lovely. You really get the feel of the room evoking a clean modern feel. No more tired Beach Club rooms! I am also happy to say that ALL of the CM's that we encountered at the resort were lovely and had helpful positive attitudes. Special thanks go out to Bell services for being so accommodating and the concierge staff who checked us in. :grouphug:

Until later....

@mi*vida*loca. So glad to hear you finally arrived!

@hamilkm :welcome: Not sure about distilled water at BC marketplace. I'll check on Sunday. I have heard you can order from turner drug for $7.50 fee. Check info in post 1 and call them if this is a good option
Thanks so much for offering to check but no need now. My mom decided that this trip she also must have mountain dew because she gets too tired of coke products, so I just placed a garden grocer order! We are now 4 days out and can't wait for our first stay at the Beach Club!!!!

We will be at the yacht club this November and are booked in a standard room. What request would you pick when checking in online? This is a new resort for us so I am unsure of what to request.

Quiet room is not a priority but it would be nice to be closer to the lobby
:welcome:
Call in a request for "close to lobby" to disneys central reservations office or have your travel agent do it. I think the yc online checkin options are mostly floor related. Do you have a preference?

Sunshine11. Sounds like such a magical trip!! Sorry it's over....but you can always start planning the next trip!!
Thanks. That is my plan as soon as the Labor Day deals for 2016 come out. Though waking up at home is always nice, it's not the same as being on vacation at the YC. Fingers crossed the rooms at YC are started and finished by late August 2016! Wishing everyone still there or leaving soon a wonderful vacation!

Dee you really do go above and beyond for us all so, many many thanks :worship:
Finally managed to catch up on this thread today after a crazy, busy few weeks with much laughter and many tears thrown in for good measure but sure such is life. Cant wait to hear all about this years dismeet and here's hoping you orange banded monkeys make much fun and mischief for the rest of us to enjoy from afar :rolleyes1
Enjoy yourselves. Hope everyone there is having a brilliant time :flower:

Excellent first day update! Thanks.

Here is the tag from the daybed for the person who asked. Hope this helps.
Good detective work, Dee!

Flexsteel is a very large manufacturer of furniture for the contract (commercial) market.

According to the tag info, here is the model of sleeper sofa, which is manufactured for hospitality and senior living resident rooms:

Specs: http://www.flexsteel.com/flx/spec_sheet.php?sku=CB002-44

Flexsteel has always manufactured very comfortable sleeper sofas.

OK, I need the Uber info for using them at Disney resorts!!! I LOVED them in Atlanta, but had heard conflicting reports here on Dis that some guards weren't letting them in to pick folks up???

NM....Give me the scoop please???
