Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

pixiedust:I know it's waaaaaay in advance but we've finally booked to return to the BC 14th October 2016!!!
2 weeks of heaven!
so excited, hope the next 15 months fly by!!!

I've never stayed at yacht or beach club, but we're desperate to try it and I came in here to read up as I want to book tomorrow over your dates lol,
We just did a akl adult trip in may! And wasn't going to go back until may 2017 but that's far too long so we agreed on October 2016 instead! Its far off but I need that time to save.

Hubby and I are going in mid-September (no kids, woohoo!), and I'm wondering when/how I should request a room near Epcot? TIA!

Well, we have been back home for about a week and I still haven't removed my magic band...and it doesn't even open the front door of our house or work at the Wendy's down the street...huge complaint to Disney coming up!!! I mean, seriously, I can't use my Magic Band off property? Come on...smh. Make a note of that, @ninjamom and add to your list!

We had a fabulous trip and have satisfied our WDW fix for another five years. Next summer we will get back to Disneyland at the tail end of the 60th anniversary celebration and probably the Tokyo parks again in 2017...but holding out hope we will be able to visit Disneyland Paris for the first time. Anyways...the Beach Club was wonderful, despite all the work going on...it didn't distract us one bit from enjoying all the amenities. At check-in the bellhop quickly helped me unpack the car putting everything on a cart and handing me a ticket with a phone number to call once we were satisfied with our room location. We met the concierge in the lobby, but first...the smell of the lobby...wow!! I've read it about on here, but once that blessed fragrance penetrates your nasal cavity you are instantly transported to vacation bliss!! We were ready to begin our adventure! We were whisked up to the fifth floor by a wonderful cast member who spoke fluent Japanese (she was Filipino, but spent most of her life in Japan) and so she talked with my wife for a bit and we reminisced together about the parks in Tokyo, too!

Check-in was smooth and fun! We were given the choice of alcoholic or non-alcoholic refreshments and enjoyed them and my daughter received her happy birthday button that was all blinged up with Mickey heads and glitter...it was nice! The kids went to lounge and got some food (it was around 4:30 when we checked in so the appetizers were out...bacon wrapped scallops...yum!) while we checked in. They went over our itinerary with us and asked if we needed any additional reservations, but we were all set. They did schedule us a fourth fast pass for June 7th...our EPCOT day...over at MK to ride Pirates before it closed down for the summer. We didn't really need the FP+ for Pirates, but it was a nice gesture on their part to reserve it for us! They also provided the texting service so we could schedule reservations for dining and FP+ via text. That turned out to be the greatest benefit in terms of time saved during our vacation. We made quite a few changes to our itinerary over the course of our stay (cancelled some dining, made new ones for the Spirit of Aloha dinner show, numerous FP+ changes...all via text). The service is available every day from 7am - 10pm.

Brittany met us on the 5th floor and personally escorted us to our room, 5652 which was literally a 5 second walk from the lounge!!! It is definitely the closest room to the concierge area and the lounge! We got all of our room requests: close to lounge, daybed and full balcony. The room overlooked the solarium and the courtyard between BC and BCV...we also had a decent view of Spaceship Earth and the crane building the second theater for Soarin'! LOL!! It was perfect for a SV room. Brittany asked if everything was to our liking and when we said yes, she called the bellhop for us and our luggage arrived two minutes later. We unpacked everything into the drawers and closet (we felt there was ample space for all five of us even for a 13 night stay), freshened up a bit and decided to stroll around the resort before our Beaches 'n Cream reservation that night. We found the laundry room by the quiet pool, the "secret exit" by 1501, checked out the solarium, marketplace and peeked inside the Sandcastle club. Then we walked over to Cape May Café to sneak a peek at the buffet we’d enjoy a couple nights later…it looked great and tasted even better!! Highly recommend everyone visit there for dinner, not to be missed! We headed over to our reservation and got a great look at the pool, arcade and fitness center. We were finally here!! It was all so wonderful and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Everyone on this forum hypes up YC/BC so well and we were not disappointed! Had a great dinner with equal parts burgers and ice cream then headed back to our room to change and then enjoy the pool until it closed. We got a couple hours of swim time enjoying the waterslide, lazy river and some beach ball volleyball! We even hung out at the beach for a bit and watch some scenes of Big Hero 6! By the time we got back to our room the super comfy beds were very inviting and we had a great night’s sleep!

Well, that was check-in day and our first experience of the Beach Club…I’ll save the rest of the details for the trip report my daughter and I working on…the title of which will probably be something like, “The Dapper Dans need a fourth? Well, I sing bass!!”…a memory I’ll never forget!!

Here are some other Beach Club highlights: Loved the quick walk over to the Boardwalk and the jogging trails between HS and EPCOT; Transportation was very convenient whether we used the boats or walked. We had a car and we used it a few times, but the busses were wonderful…EXCEPT…we had to wait 45 minutes for an MK bus one day, and wouldn’t you know it was the day we had our Keys to the Kingdom Tour with our just turned 16 year old. Luckily we gave ourselves 1 hour and 15 minutes and made it just in time! Looking back, we should’ve just drove and took the ferry from the TTC. Oh well…live and learn. Construction was apparent on the second floor and the area next to Solarium and the Marketplace, but was hardly distracting and the noise was kept to a minimum even during the day. We spent a couple afternoons in our room to escape the heat and you could hear it, but it wasn’t too bad…some hammering and power tools was all we could make out. The laundry facilities were nice and clean. There are vending machines for detergent and fabric softener ($1.00 each)…wash cycle and drying cycle were $2.50 a load I believe and all payable via credit card at a central kiosk inside. The pool, well, its SAB…need I say more! I didn’t know there was a pool table on the second floor above Hurricane Hannah’s, but there is…out on the open air deck up there…that was nice! SAB is just a wonderful place to spend a few hours relaxing…the games are a lot of fun! My son and I enjoyed some of the trivia games in the pool by the volleyball net...”name that TV show based on the theme song” and “Disney name that tune”. Good times.

Well, it was a wonderful trip…we caught the last Star Wars Weekends and the first couple days of Frozen Summer Fun. Let me just say that the fireworks displays for both of these events were life changing. Boy does HS know how to put on a show! Wishes and Illuminations are great, but wow…SWW and Frozen are amazing!!

The Partner’s Statue in the hub was covered at the beginning of our trip, but our second to last day it was uncovered and the hub area was really starting to take shape…it’s very open with lots of grass areas to sit on. The areas to the left and right of the castle as you are looking from main street still have screens up and the moat between the castle and tomorrowland is still being worked on.

Any questions just ask away!!! In summary…if you are thinking about staying at the Beach Club…stop thinking…and just book it!! It’s great!

I was so torn on a stay here or back to akl or ssr that we just love! However after reading this my mind is made! And I'm going to book Bc for September-october 2016 with 3 boys aged 11,11,14 at time of next trip there going to love it! They love water and the pool sounds like just what we will need after a few hours at the parks

You won't regret it...we made a quick stop over at AKL (well, the villas) to eat at Sanaa and were very impressed. But we are glad we picked the Beach Club...it was nice being in the middle of the EPCOT and HS magic as well as the Boardwalk. The pool was the real highlight...we had so much fun there!

Ichabody, I would imagine your house will be in turmoil on Sunday evening with the woman's FIFA final. How do the kids split in matters like this, USA or Japan? GO USA WOMEN!!!

Will the Brazilian Tour Groups (BTG's) be gone by the second week in August? I booked 8/6-10 to try to avoid them, but now I'm getting nervous that there will be some stragglers! I know it'll be crowded regardless, but I've been in July and just couldn't take it.

Bumping this up. I have not traveled during this week so I'm not sure. You could try searching for BTG in the Theme Park subforum. I wouldn't suggest actually posting there, because I think those threads can get nasty quickly, but I'm sure you will find some info if you look there.

:sad2:

GREAT mini review!!!

If you don't mind, I am going to put a link to this post in the Trip Report and Resort Review section on Page 1.

Please post the link to your trip report when you get started. I will try to follow along. When I get caught up here. And on my 3 trip reports in process. And all my subscriptions...

:rolleyes1

I would like to hear your opinions on club level at BC. We are doing a split stay between BC and universal, and I'm considering club level this time. It is my husband, two daughters ages 17 and 11, and myself. It's about $660 more for us, and I know we won't really break even, but I just wondered about anybody's experiences. The convenience seems nice. Would you recommend it? Was it a decent value? Thanks so much!

Subsequent posters have given some great info. There are lots of pictures and info on Page 1 about club level (Post 12???) and if you google "Disney's Club Level. What is it and Do I want it?", there is a blog posting with some helpful analysis. I can't post the link because it is from one of the forbidden websites.

So Aria has now decided she's turning into a werewolf next week instead of a mermaid. Let me tell you, there will be fur flying if she can't swim at SAB in her full-body werewolf costume, come August. What kind of place promotes a movie like Into the Woods and doesn't allow a child to live out her dream pretending to be Johnny Depp/Big Bad Wolf with not-so-hidden agendas? Be prepared, NM, be prepared...

This one had me howling with laughter!

:rotfl2:

Since Aria is my "Mini Me" in training I have decided to stop shaving my legs in solidarity with her and her Werewolf aspirations. By the time I hit Stormalong Bay in August it's entirely possible that I too will be mistaken for a Werewolf! Will Dee, Rebecca and Nannette join me in my hirsute pursuit? It may be true that the hairy legs will cut down on The Stormalong Bay Synchronized Pool Tube team's hydrodynamics but we will more than make up for that decrease in our performance with an uptick in the hairy legged aesthetic department.

And this one scared me!

:scared1:

Good Morning!

I'm sure some fortunate soul is getting ready to enjoy the fabulous SAB :teeth: These are a few of our pool pics from our June trip.

GORGEOUS pictures!!! Thanks so much for sharing them.

:goodvibes

Our stay at the BC has been wonderful! Today we move over to the Poly for the second half of our split stay. Weather has been better than I expected. We had rain yesterday for about 4 hours while at Animal Kingdom but we trudged through and did everything we wanted to and had a great time. Last night was a beautiful evening for walking around World Showcase. My kids loved SAB and we spent a lot of time there. It never felt too crowded and we were always able to find seats (at like 3:00 in the afternoon when we returned from the parks). If you've never gone on the slide I'd highly recommend it! We also dinned at Cape May Cafe and Beaches and Cream while
here and both meals were great.

Thanks so much for letting us know about your stay. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

PS- I would love to post any comments you have comparing the two resorts when you return. It is very helpful for guests who may be familiar with one resort and are contemplating a stay at the Yacht & Beach for the first time.

:cool2:

Our last day at the White Castle ...pool and then dinner with Cindy at 1900 Park Fare, then the 3 ladies are off to MK for some night time fun and PopPop will get some good sleep. Only complaint is the weather ...way too hot! Jeanne and I both said we will never complain about the cool-cold weather in December and January again after this week.

Looking forward to catching up with all the Disers at the Y&B on Sunday and Monday!

Just got back from a six night stay at the YC. Great room and great service. The pool was really incredible! For anyone that is on the fence about this resort - stay here, you wont be disappointed! Would love to answer anyones questions about the current state of the resort or anything else about it if you have them!

I did take a walk through the BC lobby and heard quite a bit of construction noise during the day. You could also hear it walking by the front entrance at some points as well. Just a side note if people were curious.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and especially the info about where you could hear construction noise. People are really curious to get first-hand accounts!

Last year I was able to "rent" points for a stay at the Beach CLub. Oh mi gawd-- I loved every second of every day. I want to plan my birthday trip for next year and think I want to book into the resort directly instead of going to the villas. Can you tell me if there is any MAIN differences between a standard villa room vs a standard resort room??

:welcome:

Thanks for posting this question. A lot of people wonder about the differences between the resorts so I will compile the responses into a post and link it onto the front page. I may have another link there with a similar comparison as well.

:)

Thank you - it really would be a pain to be on opposite ends. Can this request also be made when doing online check in?

I don't think this is an option for online checkin. You can call and place the request. See phone number in post below.

:thumbsup2

What is the phone number I should call to add a room request to our reservation? I searched the thread and couldn't locate it. Thanks in advance.

It is the Central Reservations Office where you call in to make a reservation. I do have a list of important and helpful telephone numbers on Page 1- I think in Post 13 (FAQ) or Post 14 (Other Useful Info). I'll check it out in a minute.

I currently have you penciled in for May, so I will change that to October.

:woohoo:

Hello BC/BCV - we have switched resorts for our 12/11-12/19 stay. Hope to be back to BC next year!

Where are you headed? Have a great stay!

:)

This time next week we'll be staying at .....wait for it.......BWV's with a Boardwalk View. Only way I could ensure that I could have a view of the Beach Club, StormAlong Bay and the Yacht Club all at the same time. :sail::sail::sail:

:cool1: Have a great trip!!! :cool1:

I'll be doing my usual live report so it will be picture overload! ;)

YAY!!!

:cheer2:

Checking in on Saturday for 2 nights!! Can't believe we were able to get BC CL over 4th of July weekend on short notice! Do all the CL rooms on the 5th floor have full balconies??

Unfortunately, no. But a large percentage do, like 75 to 85% of rooms.

Have a fantastic trip!

:cool2:

Your boys will LOVE the pool!!!

Hubby and I are going in mid-September (no kids, woohoo!), and I'm wondering when/how I should request a room near Epcot? TIA!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list. Beach Club?

:cool1:

You can add your request to your reservation now, by calling the phone number listed above. "Room near EPCOT, please."

:thumbsup2

This time in 6 weeks we will be on a plane to Florida. Its our first time at the BC and I'm so excited. Stayed on site many times but never here. We will be there 13th -28th August.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the list.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Can someone help with Magical Express times? Our departure flight is at 7:45pm, what bus will we need to be on? I think I've seen it here before more specific times than the 3 hrs. TY and happy *friday*!!

Beach Club Villa Studio vs. Beach Club resort standard room

All Beach Club Villa rooms have a full balcony. Around 50% of regular Beach Club rooms have full balconies, the remainder of the rooms have a one-person "Juliet" balcony.

My rented studio villa had one bed and a sofa. I see in pictures that the regular resort room has two queen beds.

does it have a refrigerator? microwave or toaster?

2 Queen beds and some have daybeds also. There is a refrigerator and coffee maker. I have been told you may request a microwave, not sure about the toaster, however there is a toaster and microwave in the Marketplace.

The BC resort room has two queen beds and many of them have a daybed, too. The rooms have mini refrigerators and single cup Cuisinart makers, but no microwaves or toasters. The Marketplace has both of those for guests to use. The furnishings are nicer - a little more upscale - than in the villas building and the BC rooms are a little bigger than the studios. But only about 50% of the BC rooms have a full balcony while all of the studios have them. If I was given a choice between the BC resort and a BCV studio, i would choose the BC resort every time. The rooms are that much nicer. :)

If I was given a choice between the BC resort and a BCV studio, i would choose...

the BCV studio. The villas feel like home to me. I like having the couch. I like the kitchenette. I like the 1 bedrooms even better. I don't care about the choices made by the decorators.

I haven't stayed at the BCV, but I can at least compare how I feel about the regular rooms at one resort versus staying in a villa. We've stayed at AKL three times and at AKV twice. For our next trip, my family overwhelmingly voted for the villas. Now we've stayed in a 1 BR villa versus a studio. But I love the villas. The laundry facilities, being able to nuke leftovers or a hot dog if my son is being silly about food. I didn't miss mousekeeping one bit. Actually realized how much I like not having someone else in my room each day.

I could have written this. I love the Villas as well and would always choose them over a standard hotel room. I agree that they are a bit worn and outdated, but with the refurb beginning now, I expect they will once again be beautiful. They are getting all new furniture, drapes, linens, upgraded electrical and new stainless steel appliances

On your last day, you'll packet from Disney about Magical Express that includes your pickup time. Generally, the pickup time is 3 hours before your flight departure, so in your case, it will probably be around 4:30pm.

Also, if you're flying on a participating airline, you can use resort airline check-in. It's wonderful! On our last trip, we were able to check our bags and get our boarding passes before we left for the park that morning. It saved us a lot of frustration at the airport.
