Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I Ubered back to MCO on my trip to WDW- NO REGRETS. One of the best decisions I made. I could not face another bus! (I had been staying at AKL...)

Good to know, thank you! I wasn't sure if Uber was allowed to pick up at Dis resorts. We are definitely going to consider doing that back to the airport if it buys us more time at the resort.

They can pick up and drop off all over WDW. We even had a CM driver once!

Uber can't pick people up at MCO?
Nope, it's blacked out on Uber and Lyft maps when entering a pick up location. Different airports have different rules governing if ride shares can pick up.

Thanks Guys! Can't wait to see the new rooms and having DTD & Park busses between only the two resorts is definitely nicer! We may drive down this year, not sure yet but would it be easier to drive to DTD rather than the busses? We did a Taxi on our last visit but I remember there was a ton of construction and it took more time to get there.
Sorry...way behind on this thread but I wanted to weigh in with my 2 cents. We typically do have a car on property, whether we drive down or rent. We have found it much easier to drive to DTD. There was in road construction in mid January that may or may not still be going on but parking was actually pretty easy and every time we have tried to take a bus we spent at least an hour getting back.

While I have never used Uber, it would appear that UberBLACK is available at MCO, at least according to this release.
Very true! UberBLACK got authorization just after my Nov trip, but you won't save any money with UberBLACK. It's the premium Uber service that is equivalent to a towncar service.

Two part question: We are staying in September, family of 5, We've never stayed at the YC before. We have a SV booked. Two questions: Should I bother doing on-line check in? I can't see the benefit (we should be checking in around 3:30pm) bc it seems it benefits the hotels, not us, when I've done it in the past. My requests never seem to be met until I actually go back down and speak with front desk. And (not at a Disney Resort) when we do not do on-line check in, and check in in person, we've been upgraded in the past. Just looking for feedback on pros/cons. Or, if I do end up doing on-line check in, should I request being near elevators (we don't necessarily need to be near an elevator, but the hike seems long if you're not). How many "secret entrances" and stair cases are there for us to use if we are on a far wing? (We're not afraid of stairs, just hate the winding hallways if we can be outside). Just wondering what to request if we do on-line check in (high floor?) . We won't need to request daybed since there are 5 of us, and I assume every room has balcony. I know with SV, it's up in the air, so just trying to figure out. Thanks in advance!!

I have done online check-in twice at YC. First time, I did not receive a room ready text.i had to go to the check in desk, but we were picking our magic bands up at the counter. I had made no requests, as I was hoping for an early check-in. Tee got an upgrade (lagoon view from standard) and room was ready early. This Dcember, I called in two requests: first floor and near an external exit. Got them both, had a wonderful location, and the room was ready and I did not have to visit the front desk!
Well I'm only a couple of weeks out from my trip to YC. I'm going with my parents and it's their first ever stay at a Disney resort, so I'm a little nervous about them liking it. I think they will given the refurbishments and the location. One question (I ask only because it's been a couple of years since I was there) - does the shop in YC sell boxes of cereal and cartons of milk? I seem to remember that it does but I can't swear to it.

Just want to say that if I was taking my parents on their second visit (they hated POFQ on their first and I have not been able to get them to return), I would totally bring them to YC. How can they not love it? Good choice!
any reviews? I have always wanted to try a tea in WDW, but we have 2 diners with food allergies, and I am not sure how much they could substitute.

It's been a while but looking into sept/October 2016... I know BC rooms have been renovated since my last trip but what about rehab at YC .. Has is started and when is to be finished?

For the most up to date rehab information, see post #1 of this thread.

I am very happy to be heading back to the BC from Aug. 14-21! Can't wait to enjoy SAB and I am also looking forward to trying the afternoon tea at the Solarium.

Hi there... getting close to our online check in date and am contemplating adding a request but most likely we won't need to because a balcony is our primary goal and we are staying at YC. With that said... there are 3 of us, is there any chance we would get a king? Do I have to request 2 queens? I'd rather not sleep with our 9 year old in the middle of my DH and myself lol

Secondly, if we do online checkin for club level.. will we still be escorted to the desk at the club level and get our awesome welcome drink? :)

Thanks and Happy Easter to everyone!!

What are the room request choices for a standard room on online check in ? I know I have seen this somewhere but I cant seem to find it.

We just got back from our first stay at the Yacht Club - and loved it!! We were in room 3001 - literally the furthest away from the lobby that you could be. Since they had upgraded us from garden to lagoon/pool view, I wasn't about to complain. ;) There were stairs + a door to the outside near us, and we just took advantage of that. Being able to watch the boats and Illuminations from our room made it totally worth it. =)

Excuse the "just checked in" mess... I should have taken photos before we let the kids in. ;) This room was on the side of the building, and had three windows that overlooked trees and a small canal to the side of the resort. It had an extra hallway up along the front too - made it feel nice and roomy!

Other than that - we LOVED Stormalong Bay, especially the lazy river (though I was glad my kids are older and strong swimmers, it's hard to keep track of everyone there!). We had dinner one night at Captain's Grille and would give it 5 enthusiastic thumbs up. I'm sure we'll be back in the future!
We stayed in that exact room on our last stay at YC - we loved all the extra room in the entry way and tons of light from the Windows during the day!!
