Okay, so for us technically challenged individuals (I still use a flip-phone). will the Mouse give us a cell phone to use during our stay so we can download the app? Hey, don't laugh, that phone has been very good to me over the years and I have no intention of replacing it.

Very sad about this... our DS will be 12 by the time this happens but we have regularly used the the kids club previously (and we go yearly and have used the kids club often) he had a great time each and every time .... I think this just makes it that much harder for parents who want to have a night out while making sure our kids are nearby and well taken care of. To a certain extent this works against the pay for play options they've offered which don't work for kids --- we're doing Highway in the Sky and the Savor the Savannah on our trip in March ... had the kids club not been available I doubt we'd have done either.

On one level I understand but I guess if people used them enough this wouldn't be an issue but I feel bad that this option will be gone in July.

Not to pound this issue to death, but with all the walking-dead in the parks today (who hasn't had to jump aside to avoid someone fixated on their texting while walking?), I can see the logic why Disney wants to go to this option for opening doors to rooms. There will probably be some kind of maintenance and security option making it easier for staff to remotely gain access to a room when needed. On the other hand, I have a neighbor who is now 18 and has been in trouble for a number of years for hacking into computers that he shouldn't have been snooping around in. I would think this technology will be something easily broken into by those with the technical skills and the nefarious intentions to do something they shouldn't be doing.

Sometimes I hate mobile phones! I mean I love mine for lots of reasons but I hate that sometimes people are permanently engrossed in their phones while not being aware of other people/things around them.. I too would worry about the ability of those with less than honest intentions being able to hack their way into a room

Had a great stay for marathon weekend, despite it being the most crowded I’ve seen the parks in any of my recent trips.

I really enjoyed YC and don’t have any complaints about the room, aside from noise. As others have mentioned, I don’t know if the new flooring is to be blamed but if someone is out in the hallway, it sounds like they’re in your room. Yesterday finally warmed up enough that I was able to finally get into SAB. On my previous 2 stays at BC, I never found time. I enjoyed a few loops around the lazy river section. I did use the hot tub at the quiet pool quite a few times to soothe my legs post marathon. I did not see any dogs at the resort. My sister left yesterday morning and texted saying she saw one small dog being checked in.

If anyone has any questions, I’ll be happy to try to answer them.

Wrapping up marathon weekend 2018 and happy to report that we just received our DME voucher for tomorrow’s departure and as announced they’re back to the approximate 3 hour window! The weather for our trip was a tale of two cities; brisk and cold for the races, but not necessarily waiting around before the start and now it’s warm and muggy. Park time was scaled back this trip due to post race chest colds and coughing. We’re in room 531 of the BCVs which has a great long distance view of the Star Wars fireworks as well as the higher fireworks from illuminations. Dunes Cove pool is down for renovations effective today. The flyer did not indicate the duration. I’ll try to get a sense of that today. We’ll be back again for marathon weekend 2019, but before that we have F&W trip to take care of in October.

However, I noticed we could upgrade to a standard view CL room for $250 and I'm trying to decide if we should go for it. We are rope drop people, so unfortunately I don't think we'd be able to take advantage of the breakfast most days. We are planning on taking afternoon breaks on at least 3 or our days and also have a resort/pool day planned (though we will need to leave for a 5 o'clock reservation at 'Ohana). We will arrive around 10-11 a.m. on our first day and will be at the resort all night, and we also tend to get back earlier than most since our kids are young and can't make it too late. And, we'd be downgrading our view. In your opinion, is it worth it? How bad are the standard CL views? This would probably be the only trip I'd consider it since it's such a small amount above what we're paying for a regular room.

For me, I just think about all the other things I could do at Disney with that additional $200-$250 -like dinner at a signature restaurant .

My DS 14 is almost 6"2 and he was quite happy on the pull out. I laid down on it once and found it very uncomfortable but he didn't mind. It was definitely a queen size pull out.

We got home a couple of days ago so I will talk more about the room. It was 2522 as I mentioned close to secret exit, very far from lobby. Was queen bed and pull out. My one big caution about the room is it is a joining room which is great if you need or want one, however we could hear the people next door talking clear as anything. I could easily follow along with their conversation. It made it very difficult to sleep a couple of nights. We left the tv on to drown them out. I am sure they do not appreciate our early mornings either! The last two nights I think the room as empty because we didn't hear anything.
BC was great as usual but the chilly weather the last couple of days closed the pool on us! That was a disappointment. The smell of the lobby and decorations were amazing. I am not sure we will be back for a few years. Going to travel to other locations for a while. Thanks again Dee for an amazing board!

Looking forward to staying at BC in May! It’ll be my fourth trip there. My kids were pretty young the last time we were there in 2011, and we were only there for two nights. We were in a BCV with an amazing corner balcony.

Our room category is standard. Looking at room views, it seems like we’ll have a nice view of a roof to enjoy, lol. Our last stay was at BW. Our standard view was practically a BW view. We’ve always been spoiled with upgrades or “non standard” standard views but I have a feeling our luck may run out there. On the plus side, it looks like we’ll be close to the lobby?

Hi, DH and I will be staying at YC for the first time 3-3 thru 3-7 for a short stay. DD and I usually stay at the BW, but I could not get an AP rate there, so decided to give YC a try with DH (who is not a big Disney guy). I appreciate all the good information provided and noticed the same thing that @OneinThree commented on. I actually think that DH will be glad that YC is a bit quieter, with fewer families. (DD is 23 and an only who is now in grad school at Ohio State.) I booked a "garden or woods" view -- mostly don't want a few of a roof top. I like higher floors, but if anyone has a suggestion for room location, I'd love to hear it.

People often request a view of the wedding gazebo in the Garden View category. A lot of those rooms have sideways views of the lake.

We were at BCV from 12/29 - 1/1 and then AKL from 1/1 to 1/6. 12/31 was also our only pool day, as the rest of the time it was either raining or "near" freezing cold days. So glad we took advantage of the pool when we could.

Luckily, our entire vacation is paid for, including dinner at Yachtsman, CRT, BBB, etc. I'm trying to make this an extra, extra special trip - my oldest daughter has had an incredibly tough year - hospitalizations, major medical issues, etc. Over the span of 9 nights, it works out to $27 total so not too bad and I think we'd easily eat/drink that. But I just thought it might be another way of making her feel a little special.

The difference is only $250 TOTAL? If it were ME, I would switch, but that's because I am not a rope dropper and would totally take advantage of the food options. You need to look at what will benefit YOU best. Do you put the kids to bed and sit on the balcony enjoying a glass of wine ? If so the better view might be your best option. Would you get back to the Resort early enough to partake in dessert and adult beverages in the club level? Mid day breaks at the resort? How much time do you spend on the balcony? Choices!!! I know whatever you choose you will have a fabulous time.

I just looked at opening times for our dates (which I absolutely know may change) but it looks like we'd be able to hit up the lounge on 5 of our 7 park days for breakfast. We will watch 3 night shows, so we will most likely be back earlier the other 4 nights. And thank you, she's definitely looking forward to a break from life right now!

I'm looking at it this way - we could not get a discount on our garden/woods view room for 9 nights so we are paying rack rate for that. However, there is a discount for standard CL. The difference between the two is $250, so $27 per night spread over 9 nights. If we could get a discount on our standard garden this wouldn't even be an option!

After many years of staying in Mods and Values, my DH and I are staying at BC for Christmas 2018!!! Ahhh, the joys of traveling without kids, my "kids" are 25 and 21 so its just us now.

Our exact dates are 12/25 to 12/30.
