Opening on May 28, 1994, Disneys Wilderness Lodge was inspired by the Great American Northwest National Park lodges from the turn of the 20th century. It is an architecturally grand Disney Deluxe Resort honoring American craftsmanship and artistry, and celebrates the majesty of the unspoiled wilderness.

Designed by architect Peter H. Dominick, Jr., who also designed Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Grand Californian, the theme of being in harmony with nature winds through the lodge, inside and out. Authentic décor and genuine artifacts pay homage to ancient Native American cultures and the pioneering spirit of early American explorers.

A 10-foot totem near the Wilderness Lodge Mercantile features some famous animals. Disney character Humphrey Bear stands at the base and supports Donald Duck. Lodge legend has it that rubbing Humphrey Bear's black nose brings good luck.

Step inside the 7-story lobby, the centerpiece of Disney's Wilderness Lodge, and be awed by 2 towering totems. Each reaching 55-feet tall, the hand-carved pole, one topped with a raven, the other an eagle. Draw your eye up the 4 levels of corridors that surround the lobby and provide access to sitting nooks, terraces and nearly 730 guest rooms. The various animals, from whales to raccoons to eagles carved into these totems, depict Native American myths and legends.

While looking up towards the ceiling in the lobby of Disney's Wilderness Lodge, notice 4 massive teepee-shaped chandeliers suspended from solid Lodgepole Pine beams. Authentic rawhide, hand painted with geometric designs, stretches over the lights' structural framework. Each teepee chandelier, with its bronze and steel ring of silhouetted buffaloes and riders on horseback, weighs 600 pounds.

THE 2012 WILDERNESS LODGE ROOM REHAB included replacement of most bathroom fixtures (but not the counter tops), the shower tile, shower head and shower curtain, all flooring, drapes, bedding, bed skirt and fabric areas of existing furniture, including the headboard fabric. All rooms were painted a lighter color. All hallway carpeting was replaced as well as chair coverings in the Club Level lounge. Some lobby chairs were replaced with high back chairs. The rehab was completed in the end of September 2012. VWL was rehabbed in early 2014.

STANDARD ROOMS are 340 square feet and have either two queen-size beds, a king-size bed (wheelchair-accessible rooms), or a queen-size bed and a set of bunkbeds. All rooms come with a table (with outlets) and two chairs, flat panel TV, under-counter refrigerator, keyed wall safe, iron and ironing board, iHome clock radio, and Cuisinart coffeemaker which uses pods.

THE SOUTH WING IS CLOSED AND THE PRESIDENTIAL SUITE IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR BOOKING.

    THE YELLOWSTONE PRESIDENTIAL SUITE #7123
sleeps four. It faces the inner courtyard of Wilderness Lodge and Bay Lake and is on the corner of the Club Level's seventh floor, furthest from the lobby. The suite measures 1,000 square feet and includes two separate entries, two bathrooms, four balconies (all with enclosed railings), an office, floor to ceiling windows in the living room (which are perfect for viewing the EWP and Wishes), a dining room with a table that seats eight, a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room, two flat screen TVs, a pantry with an under-counter fridge and microwave. There is a foyer coat closet and doorbell and a connecting door in the foyer to a Standard room which is not included in the suite, but can be requested. The King master bedroom has one interior entrance and a separate exterior entrance next to Standard room 7127, however, there is not a connecting door. The master bathroom has two separate sink areas, a lighted make-up table, and separate shower and jacuzzi tub and upgraded toiletries.

    YOSEMITE VICE-PRESIDENTIAL SUITE

    4-16-16:
THE CLUB LEVEL LOUNGE HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY MOVED TO THE VP SUITE. THE VP SUITE IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR BOOKING.

The suite was rehabbed in 2013 so portions of the following description may be outdated. The king bed that is pictured in the 2010 Presidential Suite photos on the previous page is now in the Yosemite Suite.

The 885-square-foot Vice Presidential Suite is outfitted in upscale cowboy style featuring rawhide curtains, branding-iron towel bars, wood-paneled walls, Native American artwork, and lodgepole trim. The living area offers a distressed leather sleeper sofa, two leather easy chairs, oversized desk, Remington-style lamp, Southwestern rug, and an armoire with a flat-panel TV, DVD player, and stereo. A wooden walk-in bar is complete with swinging doors, microwave, under counter refrigerator, sink, toaster, blender, coffeemaker, and two leather barstools. The small dining room has hardwood flooring with a circular, six-person table with rustic twig chairs.

    CLUB LEVEL
    THE OLD FAITHFUL CLUB

Due to the DVC conversion of the South Wing, the OFC lounge has been permanently relocated to the North Wing's two Honeymoon Suites. The new lounge opened 11/16.

When you arrive, let a Bellman or Curbside Greeter know you are a Club Level guest. If you are driving, most likely the guard will have announced your arrival. A CM will either instruct you to go into the lobby and check-in at the Bell Services counter, which would only occur if it is before 7 AM or after 10 PM when Club Level is closed or a Club Level Curbside Greeter will greet you outside and either check you in downstairs if it is very busy upstairs or most likely they will escort you upstairs. If someone needs to park a car, have the Bellman store your luggage (if you'd like), self-park your car, and the curbside CM will wait to take you upstairs until your party is all together.

Once on the 7th floor, you will check-in at the concierge desk between 7 AM and 10 PM.

    15.jpg

If your room is ready, you will then be escorted to your room. If it is not ready, you will be called or texted when it is ready. You will be given your KTTW card and/or Magic Band, with park tickets and dining plan loaded (if applicable) even if your room is not ready. You have full lounge access from the time you check-in until 10 PM (when the lounge closes) of your check-out day.

*ONLY THE NORTH WING (TOP) IS OPEN. THE SOUTH WING (BOTTOM) IS BEING CONVERTED TO DVC AND IS NO LONGER A CLUB LEVEL WING. THE LOUNGE AND CHECK-IN HAVE BEEN RELOCATED TO THE NORTH WING'S TWO HONEYMOON SUITES.

    TRANSPORTATION

Transportation via bus, boat and trails to Fort Wilderness and via bus and boat to the Magic Kingdom. Bus to all other destinations. Wilderness Lodge is the only Magic Kingdom Deluxe Resort not located on the monorail line. However, the monorail can most easily be accessed via Blue Flag boat launch from Disney's Wilderness Lodge to Disney's Contemporary Resort. From there, the monorail makes stops at the Transportation and Ticket Center with continuing service to Disney's Polynesian Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, the Magic Kingdom and returns to Disney's Contemporary Resort. The Epcot monorail can be accessed from the TTC.

BUS to all parks, Downtown Disney and Ft. Wilderness. The bus stop is located between WL and VWL and provides a covered seating area with a drink vending machine. Buses run about every 20 - 30 minutes. A CM is sometimes stationed at the bus stop in the morning to monitor bus frequency and guest demand. The CM reports back to dispatch, where buses can be dispatched more frequently if needed.

BUSES FOR EARLY ADRs (Advance Dining Reservations)

Buses for the Magic Kingdom and Magic Kingdom Resort Area will start running at 6:30am DAILY.

Buses for Animal Kingdom/Animal Kingdom Lodge will start running at 7:00-7:15am DAILY.

Buses for the Disney's Hollywood Studios (covering the Epcot Resort Area) will start running at 7:00-7:15am DAILY.

Buses for Epcot (Princess Breakfast at Norway) will start running at 7:00-7:15am DAILY.

This information is valid EVERY DAY, and for ALL DISNEY RESORTS serviced by Bus transportation.

These buses are for Breakfasts only, and should not be used for general park access. Always let the driver know where you are going upon boarding the bus. Most times, the driver will be able to take you directly (ie: Contemporary, for Chef Mickey's) but sometimes this is not possible. As such, you should always allow time for a connection when going Resort to Resort. Actual arrival times will vary by location.

RED FLAG: The boat to the left of the dock has a red flag and goes to the Magic Kingdom. The red flag boats operate from a half hour before the Magic Kingdom opens to an hour and a half after the Magic Kingdom closes. Normally, the MK/Red Flag boat is a yellow-covered boat. These boats can accommodate open strollers, wheel chairs and scooters.

    IMG_2962.JPG
BLUE FLAG: The boat to the right of the dock has a blue flag, and goes to Fort Wilderness and Disney's Contemporary Resort. These boats run from 6:45 AM to 11:30 PM. Passengers using wheel chairs/scooters can use the boat pictured above. Just let any boat captain know that you require a "covered" boat or handicap accessible boat.

RUN/WALK/BIKE to Fort Wilderness. Trails marked on the map below. The concrete trail is perfect for biking, strollers, walking or jogging. It takes about 20 minutes non-stop to walk from WL to Pioneer Hall at FW, however, none of the trails have any lights. Photos of the trails are in the ACTIVITIES section.

    DISNEY'S MAGICAL EXPRESS

"We walked off the airplane on a Wednesday morning at 9:36am (in January). We got on a bus (ME) around 10am. The bus left the airport at 10:11am. Our first stop was the Poly at 10:47am. Then it stopped at the GF before heading to WL. We arrived at WL at 11:00am."

    HOW DME WORKS

    1. Reserve Disney's Magical Express Transportation when you book online or by calling (407) WDW-MAGIC or (407) 939-6244.

    2. Upon landing at Orlando International Airport, skip baggage claim and proceed to the Disney's Magical Express Welcome Center in the Main Terminal Building, B side, Level 1. Disney's Magical Express service will collect your luggage and deliver it directly to your Walt Disney World hotel room within 3 hours after you check in at the resort. Luggage delivery service provided by Disney's Magical Express is available for flights arriving between 5:00 am and 10:00 pm daily. For airport arrivals after 10:00 pm, guests may collect their luggage at Baggage Claim and transport it with them on the motor coach.

    3. International Guests flying into Orlando International Airport from another country must follow the U.S. Customs and Border Protection process and claim luggage after disembarking the plane. After completing the process, proceed to the Disney's Magical Express Welcome Center in the Main Terminal Building, B side, Level 1. Disney's Magical Express service will recollect your luggage and deliver it directly to your Walt Disney World hotel room within 4 hours after you check in at the resort.

    4. Sit back and relax as Disney transports you to your Disney Resort hotel in an air-conditioned motor coach.

    5. As your vacation draws to a close, you'll receive a Transportation Notice advising you of the pick-up time and place for your motor coach ride back to Orlando International Airport. Please note that it is your responsibility to bring your luggage to the pick-up point. Please note that you cannot reserve the luggage service exclusively. You must be present on the motor coach to have your luggage transported to a Walt Disney World hotel.

    RESORT AIRLINE CHECK-IN

If you're departing domestically on a designated airline, enjoy the convenience of Resort Airline Check-in Service, which allows you to receive your return boarding pass and check luggage at your Walt Disney World hotel, bypassing airport check-in completely. If your flight departure time is prior to 8:00 a.m., you must check-in at MCO.

Visit the Resort Airline Check-In Desk no later than 3 hours prior to your flight departure time. A valid government issued photo I.D. and a room key are required. For more details, visit the RAC desk at the entrance to WL between 5:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

    LAUNDRY

WL guest laundry facilites are located on the first floor of Wilderness Lodge in the North Wing, across from elevators and Roaring Fork. In spring of 2015, WDW laundry rooms were converted from a cash payment system to a credit/debit card-only payment system. Guests now have the ability to remotely check their laundry's status and set-up alerts via the internet.

Standard-size washers and dryers cost $2.00 per load. (Helpful hint: Don't overload the dryer as it will take much longer for clothes to dry). Laundry rooms are open 24 hours. Dry cleaning and valet laundry services are also available and can be arranged by selecting Housekeeping on your telephone. For same day service, call by 8:30 a.m. for pickup. Items will be returned after 6:00 p.m. that day. Dry cleaning and valet laundry services prices are listed on the laundry card found hanging in the room closet.

Single use packets of detergent and fabric softener are available for purchase with a credit or debit card. The guest laundry has chairs, a folding table and a television as well as snack and drink vending machines. It is very close to the pool area.

THE SILVER CREEK SPRINGS POOL AT DISNEY'S WILDERNESS LODGE

Lifeguards are usually on duty usually from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. in the spring/summer, but this can change seasonally or during inclement weather. In the Winter of 2014, a fence was added around the pool, splash pad and hot tubs. The splash pad replaced the kiddie pool and it has a 48" height restriction. There are two hot tubs located at the WL pool and one located at the VWL pool. The WL pool and hot tubs are now closed when lifeguards aren't present, but the VWL pool and hot tub remain open. All guests may use the VWL pool and hot tubs. The pools are heated in the winter, but it can be chilly when getting out. Life jackets and plenty of towels are available at the pool. Showers are available at VWL in the Sturdy Branches health club. Restrooms nearby, showers at Sturdy Branches Health Club locker rooms at VWL.
