Disney's Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella

I have never figured out why ABC and Disney debuted a remake of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella for The Wonderful World Of Disney series? But I remember hearing about it because I was a fan of both Whitney Houston and Brandy and the way Brandy was cast as Cinderella was flawless and Whitney Houston was perfect as the fairy godmother and that role was made for Whitney in my eyes. But how Bernadette Peters was cast as the stepmother i'll never figure out because she actually made the stepmother nice and that also played a role on how this movie performed on TV. But the one flaw I had with the movie is that instead of using the original songs from the original Rodgers And Hammerstein's Cinderella they put five but the other songs came from other musicals but Whitney sang the finale song. Another thing is that Disney did NOT release a soundtrack to this movie considering it was a huge hit. This movie may be well done but the original Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella is better in my eyes

The original idea for a remake of Cinderella came from Whitney Houston in 1993 (after a successful TV production of Gypsy, starring Bette Midler). She had originally intended to play the lead, but the project took so long to develop that she no longer felt right for the role and suggested Brandy play the lead instead.

i absolutely love the movie version. And Paolo (correction: Paolo Montalban ) and Brandy were fabulous together.

Is Paolo Montalban the son of Ricardo Montalban of Fantasy Island? I remember when he played the prince named Christopher in Disney's Rodgers And Hammerstein's Cinderella and that role was indeed his first ever TV role. And I do agree that Paolo Montalban and Brandy made a perfect pair in the movie and they sing well together in the song Ten Minutes Ago

My mom was also impressed with Disney's Rodgers And Hammerstein's Cinderella and she thought Brandy was superb in the role of Cinderella. Mom saw the original Rodgers And Hammerstein's Cinderella when she was a teenager and she watched it a lot because she had a crush on Stuart Damon as the Prince. And I think the reason why this movie became a hit for ABC was simply because of Brandy and Whitney Houston's performances and this was the film that made Brandy a bigger superstar in the world. I wonder why a soundtrack wasn't released to the public?
