We currently have annual passes that expire Sept 29th. We have a 3 day trip planned in November, a 7 day trip in January, plus several days prior to PC 2.0. After some number crunching I had decided that the best plan was to purchase 2 10-day non-expiring hopper tickets use them for the 3 days then convert them to APs (with DVC discount) in January. Cost ($1000).

With the price increased they announce APs were good for 15 months. This means I can renew our APs ($344 x 2) and they'll be valid for all three trips.

Never mind! However, you could not have upgraded to AP's in January after first using the tickets in November.

Yes you can. When I got my AP in March, I upgraded a 3 day pass that I last used in November. As long as its within the 6 month period it can be upgraded. :)

You have to upgrade within 14 days of first use of a ticket. How you got to do it - I don't know! (Did you have a FL resident "play" pass?) The expiration date of the AP would also be one year from the date of first use.

Yes I had a FL resident play pass. I didn't realize that there were different rules between the two type of passes. But the FL resident play pass can be upgraded within the 6 month period and will expire on the day of first use.

The FL resident play pass is an exception and not the rule. MYW tickets have to be upgraded within 14 days of first use. It also doesn't make sense to buy a ~ $482 ticket now with the intention of "upgrading" it to one that costs considerably less @ $366 after tax - because you aren't going to get a $116/ticket refund.

If they keep doing this price increase stuff at the worst possible time, I will save thousands! I'm about ready to give up on them and vacation elsewhere. Enough is enough.

Well, Disney just lost four annual passholders here:mad:mad:

Can this be listed as price gouging? And not all that smart during these tough economic times. Disney just priced us out.

Prices of AP's went up $20, and with a FL resident AP you pay about $100 less than non-residents. How is that price gouging?

Well prehaps not price gouging. That might be too strong a word. But in these times with us when every penny counts, $20 difference can still hurt maybe not as much as the 449 but still. Not the smartest of moves and we are going to not have the annual pass anymore. Plus one of our members just lost her job. So Disney just became a luxury for us.
