I am helping a friend plan her trip around Halloween.

Most hotels are full!!!!

She has a princess loving little girl.

I was thinking about stearing her towards Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside and upgrade to the princess themed room.

I would love to hear some reviews!

How is transportation from this hotel?

I love PO my go to resort. I never had any issues with transportation. I highly reccomend Boatwrights! sooooo goood!!! popcorn::

There are several threads on the Resorts Board that describe EVERYTHING about the POR. There are two very helpful posters who work and/or frequently visit that resort and have set up some great info threads.

Riverside is s great. It's very nice and relaxing. I can't speak for the princess rooms specifically, but I love the grounds and the buildings. It seems to have some of your better food offerings. There is also the marina with boats and some carriage horses that are nice to see.

Transportation from teh moderates can be frustrating because of the multiple stops, but it's not that bad if you plan accordingly (i.e. leave early).

Hope it helps!

We stayed in a Royal Guest Room last August. The room was great. Princess touched were really cute BUT they are a long walk from the main building. The furthest building away. I'm sure it didn't help they we had one of the last rooms(closest to POFQ but we said we wouldn't book one again. After you walk all day long in the parks the walk to the room was just too far.

I certainly did. I found it rare for a bus to my destination park to show up within 20 minutes and it was usually more like 45. As someone describes in another thread, multiple buses heading to the same destination would stop during that time with no passengers to pick up.

You might try posting your question on the Resorts forum instead of the Theme Parks one.

You'll probably get a better response in the Resorts forums...

We do love POR. We also love the Pop Century and probably AoA.

POR has a more laid back feel, very lush, and doesn't have a lot of STAND-OUT Disney theming.

The value resorts on the other hand have a relaxed, but also higher energy, bright, Disney feel.

The deluxes are beautiful and offer their own special touches, but again aren't in your face Disney themed like the values. The location and convenience of some of the deluxes are top notch.

To be honest, we've visited (but not stayed at) almost all of the resorts, and our kids still love the vibe of Pop Century and are asking to go back there, and probably would feel the same for Art of Animation (which we haven't seen yet).

All in all, Port Orleans Riverside is a super popular resort for a very good reason. It's beautiful, relaxing, and has good access to both DTD, and the parks. I do prefer the bus system at POP though, mainly due to only having one stop and direct. The four stops (and sometimes sharing with POFQ) at POR gets old, but isn't horrible.

We really enjoyed our stay there in March. The resort was nice, clean. Busses were great.
However, I personally would not pay extra for the princess rooms again. My girls loved them, but by the 2nd day they didn't care anymore. I would spend the money on something else. Would stay at POR again, just wouldn't upgrade to the princess rooms!

Thanks everyone. I think I posted on the wrong board in error. I apologize! I do not know how to move it!

Not a fan of POR. LOVE POFQ. The main difference for us is the size of the resorts (POR is twice as big at POFQ), and the buses. At POFQ there is one bus stop. And you are the first on the bus loop for all PO resorts. If it fills at POFQ, they skip POR and head right to the parks. At POFQ, the longest we ever waited for a bus was about 15 mins. At POR, we waited anywhere from 20 mins to 45 mins. And this was in the first week of December. I don't want to think of what it's like during peak season. As to the size, at POFQ you are within about 5-10 mins from everything. At POR, it can take 20 mins (with small children) to get to your building from the main building. As to the princess rooms, I've never seen them. We considered trying these rooms the last time, but my kids chose POFQ instead.
