Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

I was excited to find that availability for my dates next month opened up, I switched over from CSR earlier this week! I've stayed at FQ twice before, but never stayed here around the holidays before, I'm excited!

I would have been happier to find a discount as well, but it is what it is, discounts seem to be few and far between for early December!

As we're into December now, this revised overview map from the updated Room Categories Page on my website might help give a clearer understanding of how the new room categories at French Quarter will work as from 1st January 2026. There are no "view" options any more, just these simplified categories.

Brown: Standard Location
Blue: Preferred Location
King Bed rooms have not changed and can be located anywhere around the resort (and all of them are on corners)

There seems little point in paying for Preferred at such a small resort to be honest, buildings 1 or 6 seem pretty much perfect to me.

We just got back from a wonderful stay at French Quarter! All the staff we interacted with were super helpful and kind and we loved being in Building 3, even though we didn't request close to the lobby :)

I know we're not DVC members but we now think of French Quarter as our "home" resort!

Yes, it does not make any sense to me that there is now a preferred category for POFQ. I'll be staying there this coming February and have requested river view. I reserved preferred as it was the only category available with a discount. Going forward, it appears that there would be a greater chance of getting river view with the standard catagory.

Got back home 12/10 from a wonderful, as usual, stay at POFQ. We had two separate reservations since we added on a night at the beginning long after we'd made the rest of the reservation, and the first night was for a standard room--a different category from the rest of the stay.

To our happy surprise, our first night was upgraded to the same category (I believe it was garden view) as the rest of the stay and we were able to keep the same room for the entire trip. Very nice.

Yesterday, I realized we had only one more day to book our bounceback and weeklong stays starting at the beginning of December were not available at all at POFQ. We booked the second week instead and will keep checking to see if anything shows up for the first week. But if you're just back or there right now, don't wait to book your bounceback if you intend to come in December 2026.

ETA: The only rooms available at POFQ for the bounceback starting the 2nd week of December 2026 were either preferred or king.

We just returned from our first (very short) stay @ POFQ! We flew down Sunday morning 12/14 for MVMCP that night & then did some resort hopping before flying out Monday evening.

We were SO impressed with this resort! It's right up there w/ some of our favorite deluxe resorts! We were in Building 1 Room 1118. I couldn't get over how compact the resort is and it just felt like home. The room was so nice. We enjoyed the boat ride to Disney Springs. This is really such a great resort & while I feel like BWI & Poly have my heart, FQ is right up there!

You actually put in your statement why I think they added the MORE EXPENSIVE category. The standard rooms are going to be swiped up first and that will force people to pay extra for the preferred rooms.:guilty:

Also the Preferred Location option is now an option available across all the Moderate Resorts. So they had to add it to POFQ in order to match with the other offerings.

I do think it's hugely over the top to define more than half of the resort as a premium category though.
