Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

We are just back 1/27-1/29. We were in a garden view room building 6.
The beds were horrible. We were only there 2 nights and I asked dh if he wanted to move and he said no it was only 1 more night.
They were very loud creaky beds when you would move. It sometimes woke me up it was so loud. Dh slept the opposite way on the bed because he said the springs were shot.

That's not good, you should have either asked to be moved or insisted that they change the mattress for you. There's nothing they can do after you've left, and until someone says something they won't know there's a problem.

Does someone have contact information in order for me to give kudos to a special CM at POFQ?

In case folks haven't read my news piece, from tomorrow there will be a $5 per item handing fee for receiving any mail and courier deliveries at Port Orleans (and all WDW resorts). This expands from the trial they ran at the values a month or two back. Garden Grocer, Owner's Locker, florist, and basically anyone who drops stuff off in person at Bell Services (including travel agent gifts) are exempt.

Thanks for the update, Andre, and for all you do to keep us up to date with this forum!

Thanks for the heads up. I've been expecting that to happen, but was hoping it would be after we were there.

On a similar note, I'm hoping to get a package from Amazon sent to me. Not Prime because I'm in the UK so don't get Prime for Amazon US. My order would qualify for the free delivery, I'm just wondering what the average time that takes is. I couldn't find it on Amazon, so was wondering about people's experiences. I'm worried about ordering too early and it sitting at the resort too long, or too late and it arriving after we leave?

We arrive on Feb 26th and leave Mar 3rd. Any advice would be helpful. I'm thinking I need to be ordering very soon.

I would place the order about 10 days before you are due to arrive. Even if it gets there a bit early, the resort will still hold it for you - especially now, you don't think Disney would pass up on the chance to make some money from you? :) I ordered something that had a four-weeks lead time last year, and then they actually shipped it a few days after I ordered, so it got to the resort two weeks before I did. [So I guess I'm one of the reasons we are being charged now]

Thanks for that. Will order later this week. $5 package fee is still way less than international shipping and potential customs fees.

I can confirm - because I called them - that POFQ will charge $5/package if you have something delivered. If it's something you really need, might be worth the charge.

What category is room 4127? I would loveeee to request it for our first stay at FQ in may!

Booked French Quarter for part of my honeymoon in October. Saw on the first page, is it still true that a King room can have any of the views such as River? Started to look at room locations on touring plans so want to make sure I wasn't overstepping my request. It's fantastic if it is but adding a note that includes what I like if that particular room isn't available. Was going to try for a corner w/River view. Non-handicapped King room most important. Am booked at the king level.

We're booked in a King at POR in April. The King category overrides any other, so you can request any location (except preferred, IIRC). Of course it doesn't mean you're guaranteed to get it! We've requested a river view in Magnolia Bend. I'll let you know if we're successful.. :)

If you look at the room layouts on Andre's site you'll get a better idea of where the king rooms are. I know for sure we've gotten King River View at FQ. I put on our request River View and put no others.
What I'm not sure about is how many Kings are not HA. We never worried about it since having a HA room doesn't matter to us one way or another. I am certain that some of our king rooms were HA, just not all.

Thanks!! I'll look at Andre's site too. I just don't want to get a room I don't need in regards to handicapped; want to make sure it's available for those that do need it. I had gotten one at CSR and one at POP on solo trips so certainly won't ruin anything should I get one.

Don't worry, they would never put you in an Accessible room if another guest needed those features - but if the resort is near to capacity and some of the Accessible rooms are still available they will sometimes allocate them anyway. Each room type is shown on my floorplan maps anyway, with any Accessible rooms identified by a red room number.

I'll be arriving April 19th and am thinking of placing an "Amazon Prime Now" order. Has anyone ever done this here (or any other) resort? I'm guessing that there will be a $5 fee.
