Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

What buildings can you hear the boat horns in the river view rooms? I'm assuming 1,2,5? Does that seem accurate?

Depends on how good your hearing is I guess. Inside the room, even if you hear them at all, they are very muffled.

In 2013 I was in a river view, first floor room in building 2. So I was steps from the dock and I don't remember hearing the boat horns.

Just booked our first stay at POFQ Pool view. Got the pool view because it guarantees central location close to food court and boat dock. We plan on hitting DTD a few times for food and shopping. We stayed at Riverside last November and loved it. This year its just me and the wife and its our first October trip so we are going to get to do our first MNSSHP. We've done several of the Christmas parties and loved them. We also want do some things we haven't been able to do before.

Fri 10/9 Arrive at 2:00
Sun 10/11 Keys to the Kingdom Tour
Mon 10/12 MNSSHP - Parades and Shows, Villains Soiree if they have it
Tue 10/13 MNSSHP - Rides and Meet & Greets
Thurs 10/15 Hoop De Doo - Haven't done this since the 90s - One of the wife favorites

We are doing some ADRs we haven't done before like Tokyo Dining. Get to do the ADRs on April 12th.

Wife and I are very excited. Spent the evening watching some Disney and POFQ videos on Youtube lol.

Does anyone know how late the foodcourt is open until?

Thank you...we are arriving at 7:30 pm and taking ME so I wanted to see if we might be able to grab a quick late dinner.

Excited to announce our first POFQ trip this coming October, staying Oct 1-9th. It will me, DH, DS 8, and DS 5, and my mom. Although my mom has visited MK and EPCOT in the past, this will be her first on property, all 4 park visit. We almost had a change of plans with some unexpected medical bills and was going to switch to a value but after watching YouTube videos we kept things as is. I think being my mom's first trip she will love this resort. DH and I stayed at POR in 2004 and 2005 for our honeymoon and anniversary trip, it will be like coming home. My husband likes to joke when he retires he wants to drive the boat to DD. My 8 year old can't wait to try out the slide. It's the little things for my family. Can't wait!

Well, our husbands may be working together one day! Mine always says he wants to retire and work at Disney and that driving the boats would be the perfect job! You're going to love POFQ. We started working our way around and wanting to stay at each resort--then we came to POFQ and this August will be our third time. I can't convince the family to go anywhere else!

I am so glad to hear that. We are big POR fans but it was unavailable when we booked so we are at French Quarter this time. We arrive in 7 days! So excited:yay:

We've actually been lucky enough to get it with Free Dining the past two years and again for this coming August. The first time was on a PIN code that actually worked for POFQ. Then last year and this year were on the bounce back offer.

That would be one HUGE piece of advice I'd give anyone! Even if you're not sure you'll be back the following year--or whenever the bounce back is good for--go ahead and book it while you're there. It's only a $200 deposit and it's completely refundable up to 45 days before your next trip. AND you can change dates or resorts (but who'd want to do that?), as long as there's availability within the offer. We just moved ours a week later and it worked fine.

We booked while we were there last August, before we had a clue whether we'd be able to go back this year. Luckily, we're able to and I'm SOOOOOOO glad we did the bounce back. With POFQ being excluded from a lot of discounts, this is the best way to get a really good deal there.

Good idea on the bounce back.

I am hoping for free dining, even took my child out of school 2 days early for fall break to keep dates similiar to last year, but also being realistic knowing POFQ is not always included.
We just got a Disney Visa with a recent promotion they had, anyone know if that helps to get POFQ included or not?

It's either included or not. Having said that, they release Free Dining to Visa holders first so IF it is included it will help because there won't be many rooms included.

the only advantage with the Disney Visa is an advance booking window of a few days if there is that window. Sometimes (Fall 2013 FD) FD goes straight to the GP Offer. If POFQ is excluded from FD the only way to get FD there would be a PIN code assuming its was included.

The ticker is ticking down, checking in a week from Saturday. :cool1: I think I am going to do Online Check-in this weekend and take the plunge and try the "direct to room" thing. I know the resort, I'm not going to be super-picky about where my room is, so this is a really good opportunity to give it a go.

I've thought about the bouncebacks, but I'm sure I'd have to book something in 2015 then move it later, since I figure my next trip after this one would be Feb or April 2016. I REALLY miss the AAA room discounts!! :(

I'm 43 days away and cannot wait! I opted for the online check in so if you do it, I would love to hear your experience. It will be our 1st time in POFQ and will not fax a request because it's such a small resort that I can't imagine being placed in a bad location. We went to POR 2 yrs ago and gave me a better location than my fax request.
