Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Has anyone ever stayed ground level at POFQ and had issues with noisy rooms? Either from outside or above you? We are booked in a standard view room. Originally I had asked for top floor but our trip is just a few weeks away now and I've injured my foot of all things! I'm thinking it might be really nice to just be able to walk in/out and not worry about any extra steps, elevators etc.

We stayed ground level at POFQ for 13 nights and never heard a thing.
:goodvibes I love ground level no matter where I go!

Stayed ground level on 2 of our trips and didn't notice any additional noise. The room we had the most noise withwas 3rd floor overlooking the pool in Bldg. 2 and even that wasn't an issue for us.

February this year I was in Bldg 2 on the ground floor, facing the pool area (it was closed for rehab at the time). I had no issues at all with noise. I wasn't sure I wanted a ground floor room, but I ended up very pleased - it is nice to just walk out and go.

That sounds exactly where we were (when the pool was open) and still no noise. :thumbsup2

I stayed once in a 2nd floor room and had major noise issues from the folks in the room above me on the 3rd floor. Ever since, I always request a 3rd floor room near an elevator when I stay at POFQ.

We were in Rm 5101, ground level directly across from the entrance to dining. If you look at Andre's site, you'll find maps of every room. If you look at the overall lay out of the resort, you will see that EVERYONE staying in Buildings 5, 6, or 7 is going to have to walk past Rm 5101. It is a corner room with people traffic on two sides.
The noisiest times were at night when families were coming back from the parks. Either the kids were tired and whiny or wound up and loud. But you know what? I thought it would be really annoying but it was sort of an "atmosphere" noise that didn't really intrude. I don't know if that makes sense or not.
The worst noise we encountered was mid-day when they spent two days powerwashing the walkways between us and the doors to restaurant. We could not hear ourselves talk in our room.

I spent 12 days on a ground level room pretty close to the bus stop and the only noise I heard were the cleaning staff walking past the room around 11AM on our off day. Other than that, not a peep.

I actually prefer ground level rooms, as far away from the staircase as I can, where you're more likely to hear the noise of people climbing up and down and children running on the steps like their life depended on it.

One more question: For those of you who have recently stayed at POFQ, Do the new fridges at POFQ have a small freezer section or are they the same as before the change-over with no freezer section??

Nope - no freezer section.

My husband uses an ECV so we prefer ground floor (no worries about crowded elevators) and we've never had noise issues.

I would think groundfloor in building 2 or 5 facing pool could be noisy?

I am requesting ground floor (I have gardenview) since I have a stroller and it would be so easy not to have to fight getting on and off elevator. I am thinking of requesting building 3, 4 or 6.

I would have thought that too. But we were in building 2 facing the pool and I heard no noise outside. :)

Same here, except we were in building 5 facing the pool. The only noise was toilets flushing in other rooms, and the kids next door through the adjoining door. Otherwise, quiet as a pin.

The Port Orleans doors are pretty solid, and you don't generally hear too much noise from outside anyway (apart from the wheels of cases on the concrete floors outside the rooms).

The ground-floor rooms in 2 and 5 that face towards the pool are Garden View category too, so a great location without the premium price of the official Pool View rooms above you.

No kidding! We were in our room one afternoon getting ready to head for the parks and we opened the door to the biggest downpour and storm! We did not hear any of this until we opened our door.

We stayed in Room 4127 last May, which is the first room across from the dining area. Noise was not an issue at all. Really liked being that close to food and the bus stop.

I was in that room in Feb. 2014. You can't get any closer to the food court. We only heard noise a few times late at night when people walked past our door talking like it was the middle of the afternoon. 4127 is a connecting room but that wasn't a problem for us because we had both rooms.

So, I did it!! I booked our trip for October!! I was gonna wait for later, but figured that POFQ is normally excluded from most discounts so I would get it now and change it to BB in 17 days when we are at the WL! We booked two standard view rooms and I am wondering where the best location is for being close to the food court/bus stop. Any advice? Thanks in advance!
