Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Thank you so much. Your post made me smile .... a few years ago I took a measure with me to get dimensions for someone else. You'd think I would have kept a note of it :rolleyes1

I am going to decorate our window this year but don't know how long to make the strands of ribbon :)

I haven't got my notes to hand, but I seem to recall the windows are 5ft by 5ft, broken down into smaller panes - in the case of FQ four across by three down.

When we get to POFQ (116 days and counting!!) it will be about 8pm-ish. Is it worth going straight up to the room and ordering pizza, or will it be quicker (and cheaper) to pick something up and take it up to the room with us? I don't fancy lugging the suitcases into the restaurant though, with 2 little ones.

We're on the QS dining plan, but I'd rather save those credits for our last day.

I'm headed to the FQ in 2 weeks. It will be my first trip to Disney. Is there anything I should be sure not to miss?

Welcome to the DIS. I assume you mean what not to miss at POFQ. Take time to stroll the property. I get up early and love walking along the water. It is so quiet and serene. You can walk up to sister-resort Riverside and be back to POFQ in less than a half hour. My dh says to not miss the beignets.

I started a thread asking this same question but thought I should ask here. I am going to POFQ over Thanksgiving week :goodvibes but have a few concerns :confused3. We have several pool days planned I our schedule and I am worried since there are no quiet pools like the other moderates that It may be super crowded the week I am there. Has anyone ever been to POFQ during a busy week and experienced over crowding with the resort or should I stop worrying? Thanks!

Port Orleans French Quarter is our favorite resort! The carriage ride is nice, I agree do it in late afternoon or early evening. We live near O.C., NJ and have seen plenty of surry's at home so I can't say Ive done this at Disney. I did price it 2 years ago and it was very expensive. On our first day, we usually have dinner at another resort (last time was Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at the Beach Club Resort); they have the best grilled cheese and tomato soup!!! The kids enjoyed watching the servers make the "kitchen sink" dessert! After that, we go back and explore our resort grounds and guest shop. This time we were luck to arrive early enough to enjoy the pool before going to dinner. I always pack a change of clothes, bathing suits, and shoes in our carry-on's. Hope this helps and you have a wonder trip!

Can't answer you question exactly, but if you're looking for quiet pools, you can go over and use the ones at POR too. They're considered "sister" resorts, so guests at either can use the amenities at both. Maybe that will help ease your mind!

It would less expensive to order it in the food court. Room service is going to charge you 18% gratuity, 6.5% sales tax, and a $3.00 delivery fee. Maybe one member of your party could stop by the food court to order pizza while everyone else heads to your resort room.

The current room service menu is located here: http://allears.net/dining/menu/sassagoula-pizza-express/dinner

Thank you for your response! :) That sounds great. I always do this when planning...over think everything!

I don't go to WDW at 'busy' times any more, but I suspect that the Disney resorts always run at a high occupancy rate, especially POFQ. So I suspect that the resort itself will not be much more crowded than usual at Thanksgiving.

That said, as a senior, I find the lack of a quiet pool at POFQ is the only negative for POFQ.

Just bought 'Memory Maker' (yaaaay! :cool1: ) but it says in the confirmation email:

Will Call - Pick up your order at any Walt Disney World theme park ticket sales location on or after Mar 31, 2014.
The Guest named on this confirmation may pick up the Will Call order on or after March 31, 2014 by presenting a valid government-issued photo ID and confirmation number. The Guest will also need to present the original credit card used to purchase the order.

Will I be able to do this at POFQ, or will it need to wait until I get to a park (we're going to MK on our first 'wake up;' day)?

Thanks :)

It is my understanding that you can't do this at the resort. During my trip in Feb I stopped at Guest a Services at Downtown Disney and picked up my card. Memory Maker should also be linked to your account and thus it can be accessed with your Magic Band.

When I checked in at POFQ, I asked the CM about this exact same thing, and she said I would have to go to a Guest Services location. I was going to Epcot that afternoon anyway so did it there.

The April 2014 Recreation Activities and Movie Schedules for Port Orleans French Quarter are now available. See the main Recreation Activities Schedule page for full-size PDF versions, or click on the image below.

The outdoor movies will start at 8:30pm and the daily campfires commence at 6:30pm this month.

There will be extra activities on Easter Sunday (20 April) including Character Meet & Greets, Jelly Bean Guessing Contest, Easter Candy Scramble, Cupcake Decorating and Family Games such as croquet, egg races and tug-of-war.

Thanks to you both.

I did wonder why it wouldn't automatically be on my band, like the tickets are. But it can wait until we get to MK. I was just hoping to go straight to a ride rather than Guest Services.

I'm still hoping that BA will bring our flight forward to the original time of 11:20, and then I'd have time to go to DTD on arrival night, but not holding my breath ;)

Joining in the fun!

DH, DD and I will be at POFQ 9/9-9/15! Cannot wait!

Joining in on the fun as well! We are booked for Sat 9/27 - Sat Oct 4th right now. I would like to add a couple more days.....here's hoping! :cool1:

When you order from the Sassagoula Pizza Express Delivery Service it says an 18% service charge is added to all orders. Is that the gratuity or do you still tip the delivery person?

Also, how big are their pizzas? It says large, so I'm guessing the standard 14" pizza you'd get from Pizza Hut?

The large pizzas used to be 16", designed for two to share. I've not heard that they have changed that recently.

I assume the 18% service charge is considered the tip (especially as there is already a $3 delivery charge added) but you could always ask when you call.
