Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

That, and get you some beignets! :goodvibes

We tried them the first morning and while they are good, having had the real thing in Cafe Du Monde, I wasn't as impressed.

I did love the French Quarter though. What wonderful theming. And the boat to DD is so convenient. We had dinner at Boatwright's and the wait for the boat there was really long, but otherwise it wasn't so bad.

CBR rooms are bigger? According to Touring Plans all the moderates are 314sqft, but I'm quite happy to take your word for it.

I know we had a good 4ft of space between the second bed and the wall and a foot of that would be the narrower beds, of course. I did think the room wider than most hotel rooms we've stayed in - a lot more space between the ends of the beds and the furniture opposite, for example. But again, queen beds are 3" longer than the doubles, and that would make a difference, wouldn't it.

A lot depends on the style of furniture and whether it can be moved to accommodate: we had a round table and what I would describe as 'dining chairs' and even then there was enough room between the aircon unit and the table for the scooter, even putting the second chair on the edge of the table opposite the scooter.

Quite honestly, I'd be more than happy to stay at CBR again - I really liked the resort: we had a courtyard view in building 25, and it was lovely and peaceful.

I may have been incorrect on this! I know I've read in different WDW guides that the rooms at CBR were larger than the other moderates, however EasyWDW says the guides are not correct.

Many websites and books erroneously report that Caribbean Beach rooms are the largest of the Moderates, coming in at 340 square feet. I’ve measured several and they have all measured 314 square feet, the same as the other Moderate resorts. Unlike Coronado Springs and Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside, Caribbean Beach Resort is the only Moderate to offer double beds instead of queen beds. This may be less of a problem with two or three people, but the other Moderates sleep four more comfortably. On the other hand, there’s a little more room to walk around because the beds are smaller. Other amenities are standard: small table, two desk chairs, two bed-side tables, luggage seat, dresser, mirror, hair dryer, small safe, pod coffeemaker, small 21” x 16” refrigerator, iron, ironing board, LCD flat-screen television, and complimentary WiFi Internet.

This is my (dis)advantage, I don't have anything to compare them to. :)

Hi!! I have been to WDW numerous times in my life but have never stayed at POFQ, or even visited it for that matter. So, my DH and I are just doing the DCL this year and decided to stay at POFQ the night before our cruise. Originally we were going to stay at the airport Hyatt and visit DTD but a cab would be $110 round trip so it just makes more sense to stay at a Disney Resort and I figured POFQ would be perfect since we have never stayed there and it's next DTD. Yay, I can't wait!!!

Let me add, we will save $49 staying at POFQ. It's minimal but any excuse to stay at a Disney Resort is a good one, right??? Lol

I love any excuse to stay on site!!

We're heading back in May and I'm going to give them another try just in case we got a bad batch.

Hi to all you recent Port Orleans French Quarter travelers! Curious if there were any major changes to the Doubloon Lagoon Pool from the 7 week closure for rehab? :joker:

I would be interested in this info also. Wondering if a fence was added to the pool area as was rumored several months ago.

We had good ones in 06...but I have to say the ones we had in 2011 at Disneyland's French Quarter area were WAY better: shaped like Mickey and tasted like Cafe Du Monde ones.

I'm so sick of this weather!! 5 months and 1week can't come soon enough! So excited for our first stay at POFQ :)

Someone posted the dimensions of the French Quarter windows on here (or maybe the previous thread?) but I cannot find it. If any of you know where it is, please could you link me to it? :goodvibes

I'm headed to the FQ in 2 weeks. It will be my first trip to Disney. Is there anything I should be sure not to miss?

If you care to wait 37 days I could measure them for you :cool1:

We were contemplating a stay at the airport Hyatt because I've heard such good things about it, but an equally obsessed friend pointed out we could stay at POR instead for the night and the price was about the same. An extra day at Disney versus hanging at the airport was an easy decision to make (as nice as I've heard the Hyatt is).

Thank you so much. Your post made me smile .... a few years ago I took a measure with me to get dimensions for someone else. You'd think I would have kept a note of it :rolleyes1

I am going to decorate our window this year but don't know how long to make the strands of ribbon :)
