Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Maybe you or someone else can answer this for me. Do you hear the boat horn from inside rooms that are close to the dock? The horn seems very loud and some of the rooms are quite close. In 3 stays at POFQ, I have never been near the dock.

We could hear the boat horns but they didn't bother us, normally at night we put the television on before bed and that drowned them out. Once we were asleep, they didn't disturb us at all.

I've only stayed once at POFQ but never heard the boat horn. Certainly not an issue for our stay.

I just called this morning to book our first stay at the POFQ. I am so excited! We are going during my hubby's R&R. We originally planned on going to DW in December after his deployment is over and changed it on a whim.

I booked a River view room and made a few dining reservations today. We weren't able to get Chef Mickey's unless we wanted dinner at 9pm (no thanks, lol) or Cinderella's Royal Table but I did get dinner at 1900 PF in its place. I am also very excited for the Hollywood & Vine lunch with Doc McStuffins, Sophia the First and Jake. My 3 year old is going to LOVE them, I hope, since she loves their shows.

Same here. We have stayed river view in Building 5 & 6 several times. The boats stop around midnight if not a little earlier.

I just returned home from our Moms trip to WDW and our first stay at POFQ. We loved the resort. We've been staying at Pop Century the last two times and while those trips were also great, POFQ was the best. We loved the size of the resort, the boat to DTD, one bus stop, the grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed breakfast every morning without a mob of people. My only complaint would be the craziness of the bus stop. I was not aware of how the stop worked. Trying to figure out which park was which line was a little confusing. There was a Disney Transportation castmember in the vicinity each morning but their voice didn't carry over the mob of people at the bus stop. Afternoon and evenings were never an issue. It was just the morning rush. We were in building 6, room 6125, with a view of the river. It was so peaceful. My husband and I are celebrating our 30th anniversary this November with a trip to Disney with the family. I've booked our group of six (2 rooms) at Coronado Springs. I'm now trying to decide whether I should change to POFQ. Decisions decisions!!!!!! :)

That would be about right. Last boat back from DTD is around 11 pm so there should be no boat traffic past 11.20 or so at the latest.

I've only stayed at ASMo and AKL before, where there's a bus stop for each park. How does it work at POFQ? Are there rules I should know before I go...? I don't like to get things wrong.

We were originally going to stay at CSR but changed to POFQ (at DH's request) because of the smaller resort size (we have 2 young children). I'd like to go and visit CSR though, to see what we missed out on.

Glad you had an enjoyable experience. I will have to look into this resort for a future trip. It made my cut list and was one of the last to go. I ended up choosing CSR.

There are two stops at POFQ, the first is for buses going to AK, Epcot & DTD, while the second is for MK & Studios. There is no formal line for each park though, which personally I think would be a great idea.

Yes, I would love an organized line there too.

We were there in early February. Lining up for buses wasn't an issue, bit I can see how it would be when things get busy.

I was surprised how small the bus area was. Maybe it would be too hard to set up lines?

If she loves those guys don't miss the Disney Jr show!!

Can anyone who has been there is the past two weeks comment if the pool has been closed? I just read someone's review on trip advisor saying the pool was closed during their recent stay and they were mad they hadn't know. Said they were sent an email, but never got it. Thinking about switching to this resort for our trip in three weeks, but not if the pool is closed!

The pool was closed in February. It reopended the first week of March. I did not stay at POFQ. I was at POR in Februrary. But, the information was everywhere. I knew about it well before I got to disney.

The pool was closed for a refurbishment, but according to post #1251 it re-opened March 4.

We just left POFQ on Saturday and the pool was Open. :-).

AWESOME! Thanks, guys! I knew I could count on my Dis family to fill me in. We changed our AS-Sp reservation to POFQ last night and did the happiest dance we've done since booking our original trip! King Triton slide and beignets, here we come!! Will be so good to be "home" again ;)

I am taking my dad for his birthday in April. I had us booked at AKL but he called me last night and said he really wanted POFQ. Since he's the birthday boy, I made the switch. :)

I have stayed at POFQ before and liked it and I think he'll like the smaller size( he's 69).
