Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

we are going to French Quarter in May... do you all think that bld 5 will be finished????

Probably, but they are running quite a bit behind the original schedule. Building 5 is not even closed for work yet, although I'd expect that to happen any day now.

Is building 5 the last building with the old rooms where they are putting guests currently? Are they closing off entire buildings for the renovations?

We just got back from our vacation and spent the first 5 days at POFQ. Loved the room renovations except for a few quirky things. Did not care for the bench seat. It wasn't comfortable for sitting but was functional for a quick bite at the table. Wasn't prepared for how tall the new toilets are! :rotfl2:It's a good thing they have that moveable step stool for use with the toilet and the high safe above the tiny closet area.

We had maintenance come right after we checked in as the HVAC unit wasn't working properly and our beverage cooler was barely cooler than room temp. They fixed the HVAC unit but the beverage cooler stayed the same. :confused3 We ended up putting our drinks in our daughters' connecting room cooler which was working fine.

For anyone keeping "score" of which rooms have showers or tubs, we had rooms 2307 and 2308. Both rooms had walk-in showers that were great!

The bench seat was definitely uncomfortable. They could have put a loveseat there which would have been much more inviting. Also, my safe was in the dresser. (This may have been in the so-called handicap room I was first assigned. I moved from a room with a tub that had no grab bars to a room with a much-safer step-in shower stall on the date this picture was taken.) Toilet was perfect height for me but I could not get into the bed, so I pushed the stool beside the bed and used it to safely (and painlessly) get into the bed. 1737931053545.png

Does anyone know if you can request a microwave for your room?

You can ask, and if they have one available they will bring it for you. There is only a very limited stock though, so it might be best to only ask if you have medical or baby feeding requirements. There are microwaves for guest use in the food courts though.

Thanks, Andre

Ok, so for our upcoming vacation I requested building number 5, now since it's closed, what else would you request? My husband and I have a river view room booked.

Thanks as always!

Building 6. The river view rooms face the bridge to PO-Riverside and are surprisingly close to the resort center and the bus stop. It was one of the best rooms that we have had in WDW in close to 25 years of visits.

Have all the buildings besides 5 been renovated? Have a trip scheduled in mid March so will be putting in a request soon.

No, a couple are closed for renovations. So all buildings are either fully renovated or closed.

Building 7 is currently closed too, but expected to reopen any day. There are no pre-refurbishment rooms available any more, and the last building 5 will re-open in a couple of months.

Thank you. I appreciate it. I’m going to call today and request 6. Let’s see what happens! Lol. Last time I think we had a regular room, in building 5. This time, all that was left was River View rooms.
