Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

My DH has been drinking tea lately. He drinks the caffeine free varieties. Is Twinings chamomile, peppermint, or green tea available at the resort? I never paid attention before. I need to figure out if I need to bring some along. Thanks.
There is a difference between decaffeinated tea, and caffeine free tea (decaffeinated tea will still contain some caffeine, while caffeine free never had any to begin with), so I don't know if he would be interested but they did have decaffeinated English Breakfast tea last I was there and that was the only decaf/caf free available (it's been awhile, but seemed like they did have at least one decaf/caf free available perpetually).

Staying at Riverside, but my son really wants to do a Mickey tye-dye shirt and the days offered at FQ work much better on our schedule. Any restriction of us walking over to FQ for that activity? I assume no, since we are allowed to use the pool area I think.

Not a problem at all. Have fun!

It's Disney, they'll take anyone's money. :)

And yes, you are also allowed to use the POFQ pool if staying at Riverside.

I'm going to be down there in a couple of weeks and was wondering if anyone knows if there are still resort Christmas ornaments in the stores are POFQ or POR?
I was there two weekends ago and there were a few for POFQ, didn't go to Riverside.

What’s this about a Mickey tie dye shirt? I must have! Is it some sort of workshop? How often is this held and do we need reservations ?

Has anyone done the carriage ride ? POR, I know...how far in advance do I need to book!

My trip is in less than a month !

Thanks!

Having see some negative reviews about FQ - though not nearly as much as positives, I have to ask...what negatives should I prepare myself for.

I hope I won’t regret not considering Swan or Dolphin..

I think those two allow you to have extended evening hours?

Thanks!

FQ is a family favorite resort of ours, and we've stayed at a lot of different Disney hotels. The only negative thing I've ever "felt" toward FQ is if you catch eating just wrong and the small food court is picked over as far as grabbing quick serve items is concerned. Riverside is just a quick walk or ride away, and their food court is larger, so there's an easyish solution to an almost non-existant problem.

Why would I ever consider Swolphin over FQ? If I wanted quicker access to EPCOT and/or DHS. I think everyone should consider their hotel choice if there's several they want to try.

Thank you! I do LOVE EPCOT, and I love the idea of Extended Evening Hours…but a huge appeal of FQ is the boat access to DS.

I probably will keep FQ and consider Swolphin for next time - especially as MK EEH are in sane night as my HS AH

I was browsing the resorts forum and saw the thread you were posting in. lol I have to say it made me smile to see people call FQ "boring." One of the best things about FQ is that it is peaceful. The river, the carriage rides (listening to the horses clip-clopping along), the theme and music, the smallness of the resort. There is nothing like going to a busy park and then returning to calm. I've always said that the different resorts totally have different energy. There are trips where I want noise and excitement, kids running around being loud and hyper, if that's what I want, I go to Pop Century.

You also have Scat Cat's at FQ, and the boat to Disney Springs, where it is plenty busy and hoppin'.

Yeah, I started to worry for a bit…but I’m glad I decided not to change. Everything I loved about FQ when I booked, I still do. I’m likely to have more resort time than I usually do - not a LOT, but being an AP holder now, I don’t feel the need to spend 24/7 at the parks. I plan to reserve a carriage ride and definitely take advantage of the pools. The boat to DS was a huge plus - and yeah, the food and Scats for sure!

I totally agree with this 100%. I love the "boring" quietness of this resort, which is why I have booked this resort 4 out of 6 trips. Arriving on 4/30 for my solo trip so that will be #5 and then in Sept with my adult grandson for #6. I just cannot bring myself to book anyplace else.

I actually love and need quiet - I don’t like tons of noise and activity. There‘s plenty of activity for me - pools (including POR), carriage ride, Scats...

I‘m excited all over again!

I was shocked to be in building 7 as far as possible from the middle of the resort because I was expecting less walking. I have some mobility issues, but it actually ended up not being too bad. I did enjoy the peace after pool view at Pop the days before. Lol

Can anyone confirm if the Scat Cat's Club still has a live band that plays on Fri, Sat, Sun evenings? When I look at the location's entertainment calendar on the Disney World website, it doesn't show anything for the months of April or May. It showed times back in Jan, Feb and Mar, but now nothing for Apr or May . So I'm wondering if no band is playing at this time.
Thanks!

Thank you for confirming that Building 7 is far. I got stuck there one time when I had a super late arrival (I still think that someone had been assigned that room - literally the last room on the far side of Building 7 - and whined so they were switched to what had been assigned - but not yet sent - to me) and everyone made me feel like I was weird for saying it was super far. I don't have mobility issues, but as a solo female having to walk all the way back there in the dark was not super fun.
