Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

I currently have a reservation at the Poly for 11/10-13. I originally was trying to book at POFQ, but there were no river view or king rooms available with the discount, so I booked Poly standard with the discount. Today, both king and river view at POFQ have appeared online so I'm thinking of changing my current reservation to save a bunch of money. If my ideal room is king bed, river view, which should I book??? River view and request a king, or king room and request a river view? I really want a corner room too, which the king rooms are, but not all are river view? I would like bldg. 7 or 6. What should I book to have the best chance of getting king room, river view, corner room?:confused3

Do you know if POFQ has microwaves available for guests with medical needs to have in their rooms??

I believe they do have a few, but as they are so limited I would suggest contacting the resort in advance to arrange it.

To get a King Bed, you need to book that category and then you can request a river view. No need to request a corner room as all of the King Bed rooms at POFQ are on corners.

Would the room assignors ever "downgrade" you in order to meet requests. I know this sounds weird, but we paid for garden view since that is what was available with our FD pin. We would really prefer bldg. 4, on the parking lot side. Could we state that on a room request? My Dad really would like bldg. 4 since he has mobility issues... but we all would prefer to not have the movies going outside of our room.

If you specifically ask them to, I don't see why not. Just explain why the request, so they know you're sure about it.

We had a GV room in bldg 4 and it was no where near the movies. We were on a
The corner next to food court. It was an ideal location also close to bus. So I would request building 4 close to food court & bus stop. If your dad has mobility issues, you can request ground floor too. And be sure to state why.

We had a reservation at Poly too. We cancelled it and switched to PORFQ and saved almost 1,000 bucks!

Good to know that not all Garden rooms are by the movies. Actually, the more I think about it, the street would be in between the garden view rooms and the courtyard area, so it really wouldn't be that close anyway. Last time we were at FQ we were in Bldg 4 on the parking lot side...1st 2 rooms past the hall next to the elevator. If not ground floor right by the food court, that was about as perfect as could be for my dad.

He already has considerable pain walking at Disney from a back condition, and now has just been diagnosed with a heart issue that will make stamina a real issue. We thought about renting a scooter from an offsite company, but he thinks since FQ is so small, he can manage at the resort, and then rent a scooter at the parks.

we were in rooms 4336/7 and they faced the courtyard area where the movies were being shown. closer to the food court would have been quieter I would think. You could clearly hear the noise from the movies, they did finish by 9:45'ish but if someone was a light sleeper and went to bed early it could be an issue.

originally had booked a standard view but had to upgrade to GV to use FD PIN; standard view would probably be quieter.

Called in our room preferences today! We booked a King room so I requested a river view in building 6 if possible. We are 90 days out, and I can't stand it! :)

Both times we have been there it's been building 6 we were in we love that location.
It's a very pretty view from there over the river.

We used to go to that bldg all the time. We loved the private sitting area outside our door. But when they moved the firepit there it ruined it for us. Luckily the pit is moved again away from bldg 6 and closer to the movie

If he needs a scooter at the parks every day, he'll pay $50/day. Most off-site rentals are significantly cheaper than that. He doesn't have to use it at the resort if he doesn't want to, but wouldn't it be nice to have it available just in case? He may be overestimating his own stamina, walking to the bus stops, standing in line for the buses, etc.

We've never stayed at POFQ. It'll be our first time, but I looked at Andre's website and the new room view pictures from the touring plans website to decide on a room request location.

Can't wait - I hope we get it. We'll be there celebrating a birthday!

Building 4 is quite long. We were by food court & hot tub end.
You'd still be better off renting a scooter for dad from an off site company. They deliver to your resort and lots cheaper then Disney rental.

Definitely rent from offsite company as the walk from the bus to the Scooters is very loooong. I rent from Apple and have been very pleased with their service.

Hi I just planned our first WDW trip for me and my 10yr old DD. We are staying at POFQ. What do you think the best building to stay at would be and how do I request the specific building?
So excited to go to Disney in February 2014
