Does anyone know if the Hawaii building has had the updates to the stairs ( or roof, balconies) and things that are happening currently to other long houses?

Actually now that I think about it what I said is incorrect - there is a second exterior staircase by the elevator - it's more 'built in' to the building under the roof though, not like the fully exposed exterior one on the other end. (Plus of course the interior lounge staircase)

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort Boat Dock Gets Full Decking Replacement Before Reopening Tomorrow

Work at the Disney's Polynesian Village Resort boat dock is wrapping up, with the dock set to reopen tomorrow following routine maintenance that included a full replacement of the decking.




Photos from the dock show the completed work, with brand new timber decking running the full length of the boardwalk out to the covered boat landing. The dock was closed from May 11 through June 5 as part of the maintenance window.



Signage at the dock currently directs guests to use the Walt Disney World Monorail as boat service remains temporarily unavailable, but that changes tomorrow when boat transportation to Magic Kingdom resumes.



The dock refurbishment is part of ongoing work at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows that continues through 2026, which also includes a reconfiguration of the front entrance roadway and bus area.

The new bus stop at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is complete and looks ready to open. Buses are still using the main Port Cochere for now, but that's expected to change shortly.




Construction on the replacement bus stop facility has wrapped up, with the new structure sitting alongside the monorail beam near the resort's former main entrance road. Seating, covered waiting areas, road markings, and landscaping are all finished.

How Traffic Will Flow Once It Opens​

The new bus stop is part of a full reconfiguration of how vehicles access the resort:

• Disney transportation buses will use the former main entrance road to reach the new bus stop
• Guest vehicles continue to use the recently opened new main entrance at the front of the resort
• Cars and buses are fully separated into dedicated routes

Right now, Disney buses are still dropping guests off and picking them up at the main Port Cochere. Once the new stop opens, that will change and the Port Cochere returns to standard guest arrival and departure use.





No official opening date has been announced, but based on how the facility looks, it could open any day.

Refurbishment of Dock at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Complete, Service Resumes

Boat service to and from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has resumed following an almost month-long refurbishment.



The dock is at one of the resort’s beaches at the end of a concrete sidewalk. It transitions to wood planks, which have all been replaced.


The railings and netting were likely refurbished, too.


There are metal benches available at the end of the dock so guests can sit before they board.


Construction work continues throughout the resort on its new bus loop, Great Ceremonial House, and more.

This is the exact wording posted by Disney, posted on the DVC site. I guess we will have to wait and see if anything new is posted after this section is complete:

“From mid‑April through late June, Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be temporarily closed due to refurbishment work at the Grand Ceremonial House. Guests may see or hear refurbishment work during daytime hours until the work is complete.

From April 23 through late June, updates will be made to the exterior roofing at Wailulu Bar & Grill in the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Wailulu Bar & Grill will remain open for service during the work. Each day from open until 5 p.m., the bar will offer walk-up service only, and seating will be unavailable. Seating will resume from 5 p.m. to close. While construction activity will be noticeable during daytime hours, efforts will be made to minimize disruptions.”

Tokelau stairways are completed.





Some equipment is being stored and used around Hawaii Longhouse. Not sure what is going on with that yet. Some had commented on it being used on the lagoon side of Hawaii during the day.

Oasis Pool Cabana Update

I need help with the cabanas. I’m hoping to rent one in August but I want one of the end ones. We will have my granddaughter who naps in the afternoon. Which one would be in the shade afternoon? We are switching rooms so we may not have a room yet when they arrive, that’s why I’m getting a cabana. Thank you all.

Well it’s tricky! Seasons change the direction of the sun. The 3 cabanas do sit next to each other. Only picture I found was December. However it did show the center one is slightly back and has more shade so i would choose that one.

I did have the center one in Oct one year and liked it, it also had a place to plug in on pole behind which was nice.

Also furniture can be moved so move something towards the back if needed.

Unthemed Directional Signage Installed on Seven Seas Drive in Front of Polynesian Resort

Construction on the new Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort entrance began in May 2025, and work continues at the resort, on Floridian Way, and on Seven Seas Drive. In front of the Polynesian Resort, we have spotted new black and white unthemed signage on Seven Seas Drive.



This unthemed sign in front of the Polynesian guard shack directs drivers to turn right to reach golf courses, Shades of Green, Grand Floridian, and the Wedding Pavilion.



Ongoing refurbishment around Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

The bus stop is now finished, but still not open; buses are dropping off at the Great Ceremonial House’s porte cochere.


The new bus stop is complete but still not open. The resort’s dock was also recently refurbished and has now reopened.

I have a 1-bedroom resort view villa in the Tower booked. This will be my first time staying at the Poly. Any advice for making a room request? I ask because sometimes people who are familiar with a resort know about room locations which are unusually noisy, smelly, etc. I tend to keep the drapes closed, so I'm not as concerned about what I see when I look out the the window.
