I just got back from a fun filled week long trip to Disney. Our next trip is in February staying at the new tower. It was fun seeing the progress as we went by on the monorail. Still seems like they have a lot to get done before December 17.

In the past with new hotels opening did they always make the date they say or did any open late due to delayed construction?

Any updates on the Aotearoa roof construction? We arrive 2 weeks from today in a standard view room and I am paranoid we are going to get bumped to a different resort as it seems that’s the room category getting moved. I haven’t read much about people getting bumped this week.

There is still a lot of time - a month is a long time in construction.

Given that they are likely sold out and Dec is one of their busiest times, they will likely have their "must be done" list to ensure that those are done to open and a "we want to but can open while still working on this" list. The first will take priority on completion.

I just read that guests are getting letters upon check in that some buildings are getting painted and balconies can't be used during the refurb.

Does anyone know what buildings are completed? Specifically if the DVC buildings are done being painted? Thank you.

Like everyone else will be interested to see what the actual final look of the tower will be. Saw the concept art and it looks pretty good but still a box compared to its' neighbors.

Nothing has been specifically posted here in the thread but the General Painting has been an ongoing effort since May. The colors are meant to align with the new Island Tower. Where did you read about the letters that Guests were receiving?

Following this with interest. Having a balcony is pretty important to us and was one of the major reasons we decided to splurge on deluxe.

Just be nice and when arrive ask for what you want. If they can they will . Poly is good with requests.

Oh, definitely! As long as there is a lake view studio with a balcony available - I'm conscious that there aren't that many of them and they're all in the one building, so not sure if they would all be impacted at once.

Oh I have the lake view studio booked for 12/08. At least all 3 floors have a balcony or patio so should be ok.

When is your trip? I can post current stuff next week. I move to Poly CL/Hawaii 12/9-11 so I will still be able to see painting areas.

Thank you, I'd definitely be interested to see where they're at by your trip.

Our trip is end of Jan. Hoping it'll all be done by then but it's so hard to know what the realistic timeframes are for these things!

FWIW, Disney's South Florida Water Management District filing regarding the main parking lot reconfiguration was finally approved on11/21. That's not a Notice of Commencement, but presumably that will happen sometime soon. Fun times ahead.
